The initiative means the country is made to go through IMF/World Bank programme which includes among others debt forgiveness and a structural adjustment. Merely having a relatively high debt portfolio does not make a country HIPC. For instance , the US has huge debt of close to $20 trillion far more than 100% of her GDP but she is not HIPC.
Ghana's debts are about 70% of her GDP. This is mainly the result of past debts and the loans taken by the current government to undertake massive infrastructural developments to expand the capacity of the economy. Going for loan for development is choice available to every country. There is wisdom in it because it helps you to ambitiously expand your infrastructural base of your economy. The alternative is to wait for your own revenue to accumulate before you undertake such projects. If this option is adopted, you can be sure some projects can only be done after several years such as 40 or more years. The economy will be stifled as a result. Rapid infrastructural developments through loans give a boost to the economy. In other words, the investments resulting from these loans will be able to pay for themselves. This is why the government is not thinking of declaring itself HIPC.

It is so significant the president-always stands up for the citizens of Ghana; not jus members of NDC. On the other hand he is there for all Ghanaians(a father for all Ghanaians)and must be free from all sort of biases. He had demonstrated a good sense of leadership and must be applauded for it. Excellent leaders always devoid of actions of divisive in nature. They wholeheartedly embrace honesty as is the key to good leadership. Honestly speaking, the actions of the Ghana police force is very appalling! Ghana is not under the military rule any longer so the police must abide by the democratic rules of law in the country. It is about time our leaders begin to hold accountable all police brutalities-that are contrary to the rule of law in the country. The police should not forget the fact that if they continue to take the laws into their own hands without being addressed by the authorities, the citizens could retaliate in various means. May God help the police! I challenge the authorities to embark on vigorous training exercise so the police would acquire all the necessary skills needed to serve the nation.
