And how do you expect those importing the ink to get their 10% cut?In Ghana nothing goes on unless the person In charge will benefit, officials put their personal interest before the Nation. That is why our situation will get worse and worse. The President himself said,Ghanaians have short memories,so we don't hold people responsible for their actions,so we always vote for the highest bidder, even though we know, the money they bribe us with was stolen from us.

This was the vision of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for the establishment of The Nkrumah university is science and technlolgy. To do research, manufacture and feed the various industries. Back in the 70's every yearthere was science fair and go see the students have done in research in various faculty, how they made a car called oboafo before even Korea started making hyundai car, No support from all the past govts bunch of fools, Soil been used to make roofing slate. Great memories of Dr, Baffoe of Atomic energy and the rest.Govt should pump money to the university for research and stop the mental attitude of importing. Those daysTech was maufacturing drugs, Agric department was excellent. Now fifi kwantey as minister talking shit. Go to tech and get knowledge and good blue print which will move the country to the highest and self reliance and stop the cassava theory.

Kudos to Bretuoba, sometimes when I'm watching Ghana TV stations and I come across ministers talking about we should wear what's made in Ghana,it looks like I want to throw up.we have people like Apostle Safo Kantaka who has been bless with such a great knowledge by making a cars right from the engine to the entire body and who is searching for inverter to partner with him to boost employment just 5million$.no the government refused to do that all because of tribal gimmick.Apostle Safo who can even produce tractors for the nation consumption but however what's do we see Fifi kwatey preferred to help an Indian tractor company to Assemble their weak farm tractors in Ghana rather then giving the chance to his fellow Ghanaian. now even to allow knust to manufacture would be a big problem because the university is in Ashanti region period.

A commendable suggestion inasmuch that it is eminently sensible and patriotic to engage organic national resources in the production of a more cost effective alternative to reliance on importation from abroad.
That said however I find it hard to believe that the cost of importation of indelible ink for elections is likely to represent a realistically significant chunk of the Nation’s annual budget.
So, if claims that the COST BENEFITS TO THE NATION AND ITS ECONOMY WOULD BE ENORMOUS then that argument really needs the back up of some representative figures.
Let’s see the sums Dr Darko.

EXCELLENT! THANKS FOR THE CRITICAL THINKING LINE OF BRINGING AWARENESS TO THE TRIVIAL SQUABBLE MADE BY THE PROFESSOR. HEY READERS WE CHERISH INNOVATIVE IDEAS, BUT IT GOT TO BE RESOUNDING ENOUGH FOR ANY INVESTOR TO INVEST THEIR CAPITAL INTO IT. CALLING ON THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. THE ANNOCEMENT LACK PERSUASIVE REASONING, THEREFORE, IT SUFFICES TO SAY THAT THE INDELIBLE INK IS A CYCLICAL PRODUCT. BECAUSE THE PROFESSOR TARGET AUDIENCE IS THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE, IF SO THEN IS THIS A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS FOR SOMEONE TO INVEST THEIR CAPITAL INTO IT. WE DON’T KNOW THE LEAD TIME FOR THIS INDELIBLE INK. WHAT PRODUCTION CONCEPT WILL THEY BE USING? IS THE INDELIBLE INK THE ONLY PRODUCT? SEND YOU PROPOSAL TO INNOVATORS TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE THE BUSINESS ACUMEN AND ALACRITY TO EMBACK ON THIS PRODUCTION.

Sammy’s comments show the sort of intelligent forward thinking mind-set that really could perhaps take this initiative forward to a commercially successful conclusion.
There are still lots of basic questions to be addressed though.
I note that Dr. Darko said “The ink was of high quality and comparable to those brought in from abroad”. What feeble and meaningless words they really are.
Of course it’s comparable - the crucial questions are:
“How does it compare”?
“Is it superior in terms of efficacy & technical specification”?
“Does it run up against any patent hurdles”?
“Can it be produced sufficiently cost effectively so as to have a chance of displacing other already proven and established products which already have a foothold in the market”?
Way to go yet!

The don's call is in line with the President's own Made-in-Ghana campaign and must be heeded. Ghana needs more of such visionary academics, prepared to contribute toward capacity-building.

WHAT OFFER ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? THE PROFESSOR MADE ALLUVIAL STATEMENT WITHOUT ANY QUANTITATIVE FIGURES TO BACK HIS LITTLE INNOVATIVE IDEA HE WAS SO PASSIONATE ABOUT. I CAN SEE YOU ARE ALDREADY DANCING WITH THE MELODY, EULOGIZING HIS COMMENT. AFTER 70 YEARS AREN'T WE ABASHED THAT THE ONLY LATENT MUCH-ADMIRED INNOVATIVE PRODUCT IS INDELIBLE INK. THE UNIVERSITY LOST IT FOCUS DUE TO POLITICKING WITH SSUES WITH GREAT IMPORTANT. TECHNICAL UNIVERSITIES MUST STAYED TECHNICAL TO SUPPORT GLOBAL INDUSTRIALIZATION EFFORTS. BUT WHAT WE SEE IS A CLUSTER OF EMPTY HEADS COMING OUT WITH A LITTLE TECHNICAL KNOW-HOW. I AM NOT AGAINST INNOVATION BUT INNOVATIVE IDEAS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY BASIC FACTS. JUST WAIT AND SEE, POLITICAL RIVALRY AND UNNECESSARY POLITICAL COCAPHONY WILL KEEP THIS LITTLE MOVE INTO POLITICAL LIMBO BECAUSE THE UNIVERSITY HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BE MORE BUDGED TO RIGHT MORE THAN THE LEFT. SO I THINK WE CAN DRIVES THIS CONVERSATION BETTER THAN NDC AND NPP. THANKS

as a matter of fact, this ought to be a great business opportunity for the students in the department to step into business right away after school. it must not always be govt govt...it tends to make students too dependent on govt for jobs that may not be available...hey u guys go grab this chance....shine ya eyes small an be BOLD an Courageous...kudos, anyway....
