This novelty idea had been killed by NDC and now being buried by the same people who killed it. Poor NHIS. The same names everywhere mean while the country is at the same poor state. Those names what experience do they have about health insurance? Nil. But according to a similar minded person called Segbefia, it must be burried now. What a country being ruled by brainless human beings

How do you sustain NHIS when NDC politicians and NHIA registered foreigners to join the scheme so they can use their NHIS cards to register to vote for NDC.
Secondly, when you force people perceived to be NPP out and replace them with inexperienced NDC footsoldiers, the scheme is bound to fail.
Finally, when you destroy what Kufuor built, you hope NPP will retain anything any changes you make? Your rebranding rather has destroyed the NHIS.

Medicines account for 50% of claims and you don't include a rep of the pharmaceutical sector. And where are the private providers whose claims are contributing to the sustainability challenges of the scheme?

That is National Destroyers Congress (NDC ) for you. The plan is to remove or destroy whatever Kufuor built and in their place build some ramshackle agencies and tag them "made by Mahama"

When will we stop this NPP-NDC nonsense in Ghana. Did NPP (or any one political party) invent health insurance? I doubt that some of us read articles/news items on Ghanaweb before commenting. Good old Chris Atim is nobody's lap dog. A world-renowned expert in health ecnomics who, as the news report correctly stated, works on such crucial issues, and a Ghanaian I might add, is tapped to chair this technical review committee, and all we are talking about is NDC-NPP nonsense.
Health Insurance schemes all over the world undergo reviews to better service the purposes for which they are/were established, and the NHIS is no exception. Does it mean only NPP people can run the scheme?
Let us be open minded and help better institutions/schemes in place, no matter what political party is in power. We have Ghanaian brains all over the world and my suggestion is to tap these experts to help mother Ghana.
By the way, how many of those commenting know who Dr. Chris Atim is? Does the name ring a bell? I guess most of you are too young to know who he is !!!

Secondly, when you force people perceived to be NPP out and replace them with inexperienced NDC footsoldiers, the scheme is bound to fail. Finally, when you destroy what Kufuor built, you hope NPP will retain any changes you make? The NPP will have their own plans to restructure the NHIS when they come to power in 2017.
This whole restructuring thing is politics. They know NHIS will be a campaign issue that is why they are doing this.
NHIA had 10th anniversary and some these same people spoke on reforms. NHIA followed that with policy fair and some of same people spoke on reforms. NHIA had a conference on the stupid one time perium payment; Chris Atim was there and he contributed. What has Z NHIA done with the ideas shared by Experts during the events stated above?
My brother nothing new will come this meeting. It will be another Senchi. Has Ghana's economy gotten better after Senchi?

The NHIS is vital to health care delivery in our country.
It is a victim of its own success. It is not easy to run such a scheme anywhere in the world, let alone in a developing country. It requires proper planning, accurate forecasting, collection of relevant data, economic analysis, operational research, proper and reliable accounting systems, efficiency and effective management.
Happily there is cross-party involvement in reviewing the scheme - some of our best medical brains are involved.
May this political co-operation long continue for the betterment of our country.

Even the NHS in the UK is still undergoing restructuring after 100 years so if NHIS is being re-structured after 12 years as an on-going exercise this is surely not a bad thing abi?
