Oko Vanderpujie could not have had dual citizenship of Ghana and US for 30 years. Ghana allowed her citizens to have dual citizenship only after the Constitutional (Amendment) Act 1996 (Act 527) which came into force on December 16, 1996. He lost his Ghanaian citizenship the very day he acquired US citizenship even if US allows dual citizenship. If he did not go through Ghanaian dual citizenship acquisition between December 1996 and May 2012, then his Ghanaian citizenship was legally restored to him on May 12, 2012 by the Supreme Court decision in the case of Prof Stephen Kwaku Asare v The Attorney General. In other words, he has been a dual citizen of Ghana and the US for only three years and not 30 years as he claims.
CORNEY, I agree with you that the exclusion of dual citizens from certain public offices is nothing but madness, when the Ghanaian national football coaches are foreigners. Again, dual citizens are allowed to play in the national football team where only 11 players can play at a given time. If the question of divided loyalty is valid, then one player out of 11, especially the goal keeper is capable of being disloyal to Ghana in a game of football than any other national issue. Was the Serbian Black Stars' coach disloyal to Ghana when he coached the Black Stars to beat his country's national team at the World Cup in South Africa?
The Supreme Court made a mistake by affirming the exclusions. It's very unfortunate. In most advance countries including UK and USA, dual citizens have been ministers, MPs and Ambassadors.

We Africans are the people who NEED all the talent, skills, education, resources and can-do attitude that we could muster to develop our continent but, alas, we're at the epitome/apex of FOOLISHNESS, Skin-Pain, Selfishness, Greed, etc., by EXCLUDING a whole swat of our citizens from coming home to help—because they hold some paper nationality from where they live and work. If Ghana could employ most of us, we wouldn’t leave the country.
Taking a "paper citizenship" through naturalization is done only to enable that person secure a better employment, housing, pensions and other benefits that a nation bestows on her citizens. Look at the remittances sent to Ghana every year from abroad? How the hell do they think we make that money? Do they think that several people without papers (residential and working),thus ILLEGAL, could work that good and send home that kind of money?
Buddy, Let them do whatever the heck they want with the country and governance and some of us will return only UPON RETIREMENT. It's all about SKIN-PAIN and aggregation of stupidity, that let them enshrine that article into the constitution. I’m damn kool here and so are many others!!
