The dead United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, once headed by Robert Gardiner (1961-75) and Kingsley Amoako (1995-2005), had the same mission: a platform for high-level symposia for rigorous intellectual deliberations and in-depth analysis of issues related to development.
As it turned out, other than the African Development Bank, which has also become just an edifice of theft and corruption because it is managed by Black Africans, the ECA just fizzled into a talk-shop and champagne alliance.
Like any other taxpayer-funded African institution or project, this Meles Zenawi Symposium on Development will also follow the path of the ECA.
Useless trip, meaningless gathering.
Another champagne assembly.

On a visit last to Ghana,I was stopped by a police officer who did not go around by asking money for no reasons.I tried to refuse not to give but I noticed it's a way of life in Ghana and without giving what he wanted I will not be able to carry on my trip.I ended up paying and I was let go. Ghana need to be re-colonized because we can not run The Country. And this got nothing to do with NPP nor NDC it's a way of life, the spirit behind corruption in Ghana is very very strong. It's requires mass demonstration against corruption otherwise Ghana will continue to go down the drain.

The Vice President of Ghana should state his position on gay rights in Ghana . he should also use his head to learn from his counterparts in Rwanda.

Hope the vice president uses this opportunity to learn the very tenets of good governance and accountability from his Rwandan counterparts . Rwanda has lately been seen as the least corrupt nation in the sub-region.Will the vice president advice his boss and his cabinet on these issues when he gets back. When ghana struck oil, a team of 'experts' were sent to both Norway and Nigeria to learn their experiences. It is obvious the Nigerian factor took centerstage and priority.

Well said, Inercycl.
It's obvious that the Norway model could not take hold because corruption was (and still is) at the min., while the Alata model won because corruption was (and still is) at the max.

What about the VP holding a Ghana development symposium in Ghana? Considering all the disruptions going on in the Ghana economy, I feel a frank, rigorous, no-holds-barred development debate is NEEDED!!

Would you vote out the soldiers if they choose not to hold elections, or they hold elections but you have to vote for their guy to save your skin?
