I do agree with you that this Minister is showing leadership. If the NDC Govt. has more people with common sense like him this strike would have been over. Where is Omane Boamah, the minister of Communications. He is a doctor and why is he not saying anything or has not said anything. Guess what he agrees with his colleagues. So all you people calling for sacking the doctors maybe Omane Boamah and Mustapha (Sports Minister) should be the first to go. They have not come to the aid of the people and the government. Why have they not gone in to help heal people?

Could you remember that the P/NDC party with the endorsement of former EC boss used fake indelible ink for elections in 1992 and 1996, which was part of the rigging mechanism for stealing verdicts until a proper indelible ink was secured for the country in 2000 by Craig Murray?
Contrary to what the discredited former EC Chairman said, this is another example of how elections are rigged far away from polling stations. NDC is again preparing to rig the elections through the old bloated voters' register, and Asiedu Nketia and his party is fighting to keep the loophole intact, despite the fact that the Supreme Court recommended a new voters' register and all the political parties support it except, of course, the NDC party.

THE VERY PEOPLE (GHANA'S LEADERS) WHOSE JOBS ARE TO SEAL GHANA'S REVENUE LEAKAGES ARE THE VERY OFFICIALS CAUSING THE LEAKAGES IN THE FIRST PLACE.
GHANA'S RULING CLASS, RIGHT FROM THE EXECUTIVE DOWN TO THE DEPUTY MINISTER AND EVEN DCEs DO NOT PAY TAXES AND DUTIES ON THEIR IMPORTS.
THEY ALL ENJOY HOUSING, ELECTRICITY, WATER, PETROL SUPPLY AND MANY OTHERS FOR FREE AT THE EXPENSE OF GHANA'S LONG-SUFFERING TAXPAYERS.
WHEN YOU CONDITION HUMANS TO GETTING EVERYTHING FOR FREE, YOU CONDITION THEM TO ASK FOR MORE AND BE LAZY.
THSI IS WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH GHANA'S SO MANY YEARS OF SUBVENTING POTENTIAL SELF-SUSTAINING PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS.
AND THAT EXACTLY IS WHAT'S HAPPENING AMONG THE LAZY RULING CLASS IN GHANA.
THIS MUST STOP, AND STOP NOW!
EVEN THE MIGHTY "UNCLE SAM" OF THE UNITED STATES HAS STOPPED SUCH ARCHAIC ECONOMICALLY BACKWARD PRACTICES.
POOR GHANA'S TAX LAWS SHOULD NOT BE DESIGNED TO GIVE TAX CONCESSIONS TO ANYBODY, REGARDLESS OF POSITION.
IN OTHER WORDS, GHANA'S TAX LAWS SHOULD BE NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS, EVEN IF THAT PERSON HAPPENS TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA, BECAUSE EVERY PENNY COUNTS FOR GOODNESS SAKE.
THE NUMEROUS EXEMPTIONS GRANTED TO ARTICLE NONSENSE OFFICE HOLDERS IN GHANA ARE THE PRIMARY CAUSE(S) OF GHANA'S ECONOMIC LEAKAGES.
THIS MUST STOP.

The minister's message is not clear to me. Why don't you go and negotiate? Did you say by 20th you will terminate the appointment of the doctors on strike? your inaction is rather putting them on strike. You seem funny to me. Do you now realize your bully termination statements are the reason for the doctors calling for a condition of service? On what grounds and basis do you terminate the appointment of a person whom you have defiantly denied a condition of service. Your failure to provide a condition of service is a break of the labour Act. I think you must be lucky to be sentenced to 50yrs jail. Politicians sometimes make funny statements.

With such a hostile environment created for the doctors from the propaganda machinery of gov't on full blast, right from the President, to the footsoldier communicators, no doctor will even feel safe going to any consulting room.
A hostile environment has been created and it is next to impossible to see the doctors in the consulting room and coupled with the threats from gov't and insults that doctors lacks sense from President John Mahama, he has created a very toxic environment and he is the only one who can diffuse it by presenting proper codified conditions of service document to the doctors before they set foot in the consulting room.
Ato Sarpong's immediate Boss is Edward Omane Boamah who is a trained medical doctor. Where is he and why is he not in the consulting room? Where is the CEO of COCOBOD Stephen Opuni?
They could save President John Mahama some of the 2015 budget money he intends to import the Cuban doctors.

There is no way there can be any negotiations with such a toxic environment. The doctors don't feel safe at all and it will be very hard for any doctor to go into the consulting room. It is not going to happen. The only way is for President John Mahama to deliver the codified conditions of service document himself, apologize for all the insults from himself and all the NDC communicators as well as self-styled labour experts, and explain to the understanding of his party and the country, why the doctors deserve those conditions of service and the fact that it is very, very legal, so some misguided elements do not enter the consulting rooms to butcher doctors wanting to be heroes.
The Mahama gov't said the doctors have put a gun to their heads wanting them to negotiate under duress, but the toxic and lethal environment created for the doctors by President John Mahama himself from the propaganda, insults, threats is like a intercontinental ballistic missile has been primed to go off on the doctors. There is no way the doctors can negotiate or call off any strike at this point, and in such a toxic, lethal and unhealthy environment. The lives of the doctors are on the line at this very moment. They are just not safe.
President John Mahama at this point needs to do the heavy lift, it's all on the gov't. The initial approach adopted by his gov't could only go that far and it is now biting very hard. You don't do that, when this matter was brought to the attention of his gov't a whole 9 months before this situation.

The thing with austerity is it cannot be selective, it cannot be selective at all. Indeed, austerity hates selectiveness, it is an anathema.
So if there is no money, with this foundational precept of austerity hating selectivity, President John Mahama's job is cut out for him and has become very easy to get the money to at least meet the doctors at the 3/4 mark, so when his gov't leaves in 2016, for a competent team which understands how to grow the economy, they will do the top-up of the 1/4 remaining. It is a very simple issue and as to why it is so difficult beats any rational person.

This is the only person among the whole bunch of the NDC who has spoken sense. This is how you negotiate. By those soothing words you could get the Doctors back to work without spending a dime. There is no issue that cannot be negotiated when it come to industrial relations. Unfortunately even the president who is supposed to know better is talking like an ordinary foot soldier. You cannot imprison the doctors if they say they will not work. Just talk to them, appeal to their emotions and conscience and assure them of you attention to their cause and they will see sense and go back to work, However if you start by: we will sack you, we will bring Cuban doctors etc, you are just making the matter worse. Are you not going to pay the Cuban doctors? Are you not going to give them condition of service, are you not going to pay for their flight to Ghana or they are going to walk . Please let us cut this rubbish and get real. I am not surprised in any way because a president who could not negotiate with 23 young boys t get them to take his word to the bank cannot be expected to negotiate successfully with highly intelligent bunch of guys like doctor.
