For how long can Mahama let this go on when people are sick and dying. The Doctors demands are quite outrageous but it is time the government, pastors and opinion leaders and chiefs come togather and sit down with the Doctors and let common sense reign. With government and Doctors taking intransigent positions, it is the poor and the needy that suffer.
We have to admit that some of the demands of the Doctors like risk allowance can be reasonable. I happened to work with a researcher at Department of Animal Research of the Center for Disease Control at ATL in 1997. Another researcher on Ebola disease was spat in the eye by aan animal that was being used for the research. There was no cure for Ebola and the professor died. In Ghana, some surgical rooms don't even have goggles. Doctors put their lives at risk treating people with Hep B or AIDS. These people need to be insured by their employer. In Developed countries, employers insure their workers. We don't expect Doctors to insure themselves.
Other demands like clothing allowance and 100 gallons of petrol a week is outrageous. Similarly, MPs should be made to buy their own fuel. Let us try to get the playing field a little levelled so there will be less complain and fewer strikes.

Then privatize MP, DCE and Regional ministers' positions too. Privatize and see those who cannot afford and will die. Talk sense. In Developed countries, Gov't takes care of those who cannot afford.

The developed countries do not run hospitals except for Veterans. Have heard of OBAMACARE? People in developed countries have health insurance. The govts. make sure the insurance companies are regulated and the schemes are robust. Travel and see. Come to the US and see if you can just go to a hospital and get treated without an insurance card.

Ketaboy, I live in USA, specifically ATL of GA. Anybody, with or without insurance can go to any emergency at any hospital and the law requires that the person will have to be treated and later see a specialist. Every county hospital in the USA is obliged by law to attend to patients even if that person cannot afford. The bill is transferred to the Federal Government if the one cannot pay. If that person works, the hospital can work an agreement plan with the person for payment. Which part of USA do you live and I will prove you wrong. Stop telling lies to Ghanaians. THE USA TREAT HER CITIZENS EVEN IF THEY HAVE NO INSURANCE. You can verify from Dekalb and Rockdale counties in GA. Even private hospitals like Emory are required to treat people without insurance. Write your real name and prove me wrong.
