The message from the GES is confusing. What is compulsory morning devotion and at the same time saying this is where announcements should happen. I think there are two things that they want to declare compulsory: School Assembly and Morning Devotion. In my days School Assembly was once a week. Morning devotion should then have a set time where different religions go to their places of worship. Give clear directions not garbled doublespeak

It's about time this arrogant GES Director be educated on separation of Church and state. Bible Knowledge should not be taught in schools, it belongs in the church.

Announcements? Why do announcements have to be given at a religious ceremony? YOu can call them and give the announcement, no prayers needed.
Ghana is not a religious state like Iran. The constitution guarantees every citizen the freedom to worship and as they please and also gives them the freedom from any worship they are not interested in.
A state official represents everybody and cannot mandate a specific religion in a government school.
Now private school is a different matter. In that one authority is private and can mandate any religion they choose, it will be up to students and parents to decide if they want to attend.
But trying explaining any of this written in plain sight of our constitution to the blockheaded Ghanaians. Ghana is a piece of shit. I get angry when I see such stupidity from so called educated people. So what should the illiterates do.

Much wisdom in that foolish talk? With pple like u as docile recipients of such crass and uncivilised suggestions, what else do we expect?
The uncivilised moron dared quote the Constitution in support of some what he said. He failed completely to read that no one can be coerced to follow any religion in Ghana, Ghana being a secular state, not a theocratic state!
I went to a secondary school where there was no morning devotion. However, before lessons begun, a topic dealing with morality or a topical social issue was discussed in each class by a teacher with the students participating. The teachers were revolved and that way, students became acquainted with teachers who were not teaching them. The teachers first debated the topic in their common room.
Then every Friday, a prominent citizen was invited to give us talk/speech on an inspiring topic.
There are therefore ways to good and sound impact moral values in young people without hinging it on superstitious religious beliefs and injunctions who nobody treats with seriousness, thereby producing a nation of morally bankrupt and criminally-minded educated people.
Tai Solarin, for example, has amply demonstrated this with his Mayflower School, a school the elite of Nigeria vied with each other to get their wards in.
The Montessori school system is another.

With the information technology era I suggest communication by ICT would help than the gathering for morning devotion to give announcements someone attended school in the developed world with no physical gathering for announcement but communication by internet . the proliferation of churches one would suggest has not changed adversely the behaviour of the citizenry. The introduction of ICT in the syllabus of the educational system may be defeated if we can't start practicing such . that is why some foundation schools have introduce school results by viewing by the school intranet.

We don't live in a society where there's only one religion that's commonly shared by everyone. It would be virtually impossible to remain neutral & the teachers would inevitably end up corrupting the minds of the students with their own biases. There are many Christian churches with their own beliefs. If parents want their child to learn about God, do so in the church and at home, not in public schools. This is a dumb idea.

Has our leaders in government, since 1966, not participate in morning devotion at K-12 schools? Ghanaians are religiously faithful and obedient to their God's as a snake is to man or Adam and Eve. It may sound harsh but there is no politician who does not belong to an organized church in Ghana, give tidings freely to church and yet cannot resist the greed that consumes to us all. If morning devotions could be solution to our ills parliament could write up amendment to the constitution asking for prayers than the useless deliberations in parliament that has been determined to be worth their salaries and retirement packages. God knows the hearts of men and knows the incompatibility of a system built on and around riches at all cost; we choose to ignore all warnings because we cannot have faith in what we do not see and earn immediate benefits when it is easier on the eyes to see money and riches mostly attained by foul means.

Did i hear mr Kor say morning devotion should be compulsory for all students or Morning "non-religious" assembly? Ghana is a circular state and so there should not be compulsion in religion my dear Director. freedom of dressing as well is allowed by our constitution. Even in religious schools people are granted those rights under the constitution, the only way religious school can enforce the religious restriction on worship and dressing is to not admit persons who will not obey those rules (which the individuals have rights to under the constitution)
Mr Kor please dont be blinded by religioud biase
