The economic is not growing enough and the right climate has not been created for the private sector to achieve their maximum potentials to absorb the battalion of graduates churned out every year. It is about time for universities in Ghana promote for Self-employment as a viable career option and start offering entrepreneurship programmes in all disciplines of study. So that when the graduates do not find jobs they can create their own by starting new businesses.

Ghana has no job market and Prof. Adei should know this fact; preaching theories does no one any good. There has never been a time in Ghana when employers, private and or public, had to go outside to recruit qualified employees neither has unemployment stayed below 5 percent in Ghana. What then is Prof Adei talking about? At no time in the history of Ghana's education systems did institutions graduate students ready for the job market; instructors and academic syllabus are steered towards advancing to the next set of higher education no not even at the universities.
Let us stop the pretense for a change. The prestigious UG law school has graduated a whole bunch of Ghana's practicing lawyers and members of the elite class in society and yet Ghana cannot defend itself at any international level court and why is that if graduates have ever been a fit for the job market? Our school system and reward system never gave a damn about skilled workers but students with uncanny CPPF or chew, pour, pass and forget abilities. Prof. Adei knows very well that our universities never attempted to admit students with trade and technical skills no not even graduates from technical and vocation technical schools but those graduating students with memory prowess and or political connections. There are very few employers in Ghana who will dare hire a technical or trade school graduates to become superviser of university graduates of any kind even when the task at hand is more of a fit for the technical or trades. In more recent times when government has advocated converting technical schools into full fledged universities the opposition came from no other quarters but existing non performing univetsities. This is Ghana and talking fancy or the occasional acts of tooting the horn to show off classroom earned credentials is a norm but facts do not lie either.
