Ever since I was a kid, academic rejects go into teaching. Tel me - which bright student that passed with distinction would choose a post-sec education over sixth form. Anyone with great grades at O Level or SHS level goes to the university. Those with less desirable grades enter training colleges. Even some with 9-in-chains and worse. Teachers in Ghana are fundamentally losers.
Finland selects the best students into teacher training and the less bright ones go into medicine and other careers. Plus teachers are very well paid in Finland. Can Ghana and Africa do the same? Hell NO!

Most people who chose the training colleges did so because of money to pay for their education which was not the case in the training colleges and there was also very few six form schools to absorb the students who got O' levels,no training college will admit people with 9 in chains as you want people to believe,I don't call a person a liar but I will call you today a liar and a too known guy trying to destroy people's image because you may be living in Norway, shame on you.

Then, does your analysis implies that;Government should mandate all bright student from SHS graduates into teaching field for a couple of years before entering university?

If you ever attended a secondary school in Ghana, then you would understand what I am telling you. Myslef and all the bright classmates went straight to sixth form and into the universities for various professions. Guess where the less academically desirable classmates went - post-sec training colleges to teach and most are stuck in villages now. The last time I met one in Kumasi, I really felt sorry for him and his cohorts.

Thank you Mr Professor, but blame your school too which is part of the mushrooming of degrees into the teaching system at the expense of teaching.
We think by forcing teachers to acquire degrees and diplomas is better for education in Ghana without thinking of what the average teacher can do with those degrees,we make teachers to spend time to get degrees that have nothing to do with what they are doing in the classroom.
In the past teachers who came from universities start from Superitendent of Education but today we have teachers from these colleges starting from Principal Superintedents which in the past was not cheap to acquire and these young teachers are in the classrooms not knowing their left from right only wait to get paid while standard of education is going down.
We are producing pass and forget teachers,in otherwise, pass and fail teachers.

And again if failed students go into teaching, u wouldn't have been able to read what I have written.
