This is a country which does not need to borrow but has decided to go to an organisation which seeks it's own interest rather than it's customers interest. The lessons this minister have learnt from the Greek crisis is obviously the wrong one. The arguments the Greeks are making is the conditions set by the imf does not suit them but for five years have rather worsen their situation and affecting their sovereignty. The imf have asked us to sell some of our valuable state properties to western countries to our detriment. A former British ambassador warned us recently pointing out the fact that coercive measures which resulted in us giving part of VRA operations have resulted in disproportionate profit being made by foreign countries at our expense.
The whole greek issue is about borrowing too much which is leading to more borrowing just to pay off previous debts and making the interest payments unbearable. Has the minister learnt that lesson?????

WHEN THE GOING BECAME TOUGH , NDC WENT TO SENCHI AND WITH THE ADVISE FROM THE LIKES OF AKUA DONKOR, HASSAN AYARIGA, ANITA DE SOSO, BRAINWORK MAN ASIEDU NKETIAH AND OTHERS, NDC TOOK DECISION TO GO TO IMF FOR A PALTRY SUM OF ABOUT $950 MILLION, AFTER BLOWING WELL OVER $27 BILLION WITH NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. NOW, IMF HAS BITTEN US, WE ARE FEELING THE PAIN AND YOU TELLING US EVERYTHING IS OK. I DON'T BLAME TEKPER AND CORRUPT, INEPT NDC!! I BLAME FOOLISH GHANAIAN VOTERS. WHEN PEOPLE WOKE UP AND QUEUED FROM AS EARLY AS 4AM TO CAST THEIR VOTES, I THOUGHT THEY WANTED TO REMOVE THE NDC GREEDY CORRUPT, INEPT BASTARDS FROM POWER, BUT THEY VOTED OTHERWISE . THERESULT OF VOTER STUPIDITY IS WHAT GHANAIANS ARE EXPERIENSING TODAY. THE ECONOMY IS IN TOTAL SHAMBLES. EVEN COCOA PRODUCTION, THE VERY BACKBONE OF OUR ECONOMY HAS SIGNIFICANTLY GONE DOWN. Is Tekper aware of what IMF has done to Spain, Greece and Portugal? Many of us who are not experts in Economics and accounting. If IMF can do that that to Western European countries, what about Ghana? This is a serious and dangerous venture that the government has taken. People will be unemployed for some time. The Cedi is going to fall flat and Ghanaians will continue to tight the belt. But those in government and MPs will continue to enjoy.

Frank, what Tepker should know or draw from Greece's despicable economic meltdown is that unbridled and excessive borrowing by an incompetent and corrupt government, such as the NDC, is a bridge to nowhere. The just ended Talensi by-election gives us a window into how the NDC will behave next year. For them to rush to make token projects in the ridding for an election which will have next to zero impact on their majority position in parliament should tell you that the fools have learnt nothing from how we got into the financial and economic mess we are in, thusly excessive spending in an election year to buy an election. John Mahama is a blockhead, I dare say.

How did a Country like Ghana with all the resources we have, end up with I.M.F in the first place? We've proven to the World that our Independence meant nothing because of our stupid incompetent politicians who don't know how to run a small Country like Ghana and called themselves Honorables.
They are Career Politicians who don't have what it takes to run a business.
They are White Collar Hoaxes with no Brains. All they know is to loot and run the Country down the drain.
This is the reason why we Africans can never be respected. We are back into square one with our Colonial system where our masters can tell us how to live our lives.

Who says we want to renegotiate deal with IMF? Our relationship with the IMF will be terminated. It is only a matter of time. We will terminate it! How did the cedi appreciate under Professor Mills. Mills knew the dastard motives of the IMF that is why immediately upon assumption office, went to limits to bring in Chinese money and begun hedging of oil prices. Common sense, he kept the fluctuating variables in the economy under control that is why the economy grew unprecedented with no restrictions on it. Unfortunately that is not what Terkper is doing. He's now a robot of the IMF carrying out instructions like the critical part of his brain is dead as misery intensifies. The sanctions that the West imposed on Russia has not yielded fruit because Russia has taking seriously and deepened its ties with China. Ghana was the country which campaigned for China to get Veto power in the security Council, how on earth can we behave like this? Don't we know our allies since time immemorial? China told us that they have set up $400 billion of funds to be used for concessionary lending. China considers us a strategic ally in the world and will never abandon us and yet we are here. so Terkper should explain why he's chasing a paltry $150 million from the IMF and intensifying the misery on around us

Seth Terkper is swallowing the constitutionalities imposed by the IMF for its recent loans to Ghana , on the understanding that they are home grown solutions. If they are home grown, then the thinking that has gone into their make up is full of holes.
A growing population need more health facilities and with these more health professionals The government facilities in this sector cannot employ more of such people because of the block imposed by the IMF. A thinking government should ,to meet the needs half way, be encouraging voluntary fundraising with perhaps, tax breaks to help the hospitals engage some of these people. It is not too late to think about this approach.
As for the Universities, my sympathies are not entirely with them about the block on filing their vacancies.
These academics are the brains of our country. Their communities should be doing more to reduce their dependency on government funding. They really must aim to be financially self sufficient and show us all that if put in charge of our national politics, they will do better than the politicians and make us really a prosperous country.
There are many ways in which they can raise funds. Theyshould think about using some of these professionally to do so. It must be a very serious concern of theirs. They can demonstrate this concern by appointing a Pro Vice Chancellor for this specific task.
Universities here in the UK. such as University of Birmingham, is going into Sports in a big way in order to not only to provide opportunities for many to participate, it is also to supplement its income.
Why are our Universities not going into Agriculture, for example in a big way to supplement their funding and to help the country self sufficiency in food and in food security. The extra income generated could also help employ more staff.
Below are what the Asantenene thinks about these conditionalities. He is of course the Chancellor of Kumasi University.
"Last Friday, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, appealed to the government to reconsider its freeze on employment and grant public universities and other higher educational institutions a special dispensation for them to fill vacancies in their academic staff.
