It is the GES that has lowered the standard of education by only interested in promoting fresh teachers who have no experience in the field to Principal Superitendents without going through any promotion course as has been the case in the past.
How can you promote teachers coming fresh from college without much knowledge in the field to the top most level which others have to struggle for years to reach?
it is not teaching of English in the lower primary that is lowering the standard of education,it is absolutely a lie,how come the standard in the past was high than today, the answer is simple the so called upgrading of teachers at the expense of teaching, the so called degree is not helping the standard of education but rather breeding corruption in the system.

Quality education is all about formulation and implementation of good and deserving policies. The number of years a teacher should be trained has nothing at all to do with standard of education, rather, it highly depends on policies governing the sector. Why would everybody in Ghana want to throw his view negatively??????
Man of God(Bishop), I will be much enthused if I realize you do find laudable complements to these my below questions.
1. How and why would you expect higher standard of education in this "critical thinkers-lacking" country where authorities impose on Headmaster to promote every "Tom, Dick and Harry (all pupils) in a class without repeating a pupil to strengthen his /her intellectual ability.......
2 How can a newly posted teacher do his best whiles starving and struggling to earn a day's meal at his new station........
3 How will a pupil be shaped and sharpened whiles you do away with canning and other sorts of punishments as a way making impact on children's learning ability.......
4 How would "poor" policies and directives from the top hierarchy of the sector(GES) promote and elevate the standard of education in our country... ...
Trainees can spend even seven years in training like medical doctors do nothing better will come out of it if still those "shallow minded " officials remain in authority.

God bless you, man of God. Let me add that it should be a bachelor degree instead of the diploma. What we see now is that as soon as they come out and are posted, these new teachers had to struggle again to pursue a degree program. This makes it impossible for them to give off their best, and since that also bring financial burdens, they start extra classes.
Tell the govt to also pay them well.

It think the Bishop is right.but Bishop u can also please advise the the director general of education to stop private schools from training teachers.I said this because if you go to the mainstream the system and grade they use to admit students are clearly based on good merit.am aware your church has such school am talking about/of and the mode of your admission is well known.the mainstream's uses the minimum grade of d7 yet your school admitted three of my relatives and others I know with a grade E8 in mathematics ..,science and f9. I think I must also hold you accountable if you say anywhere that the standard of education is falling in Ghana. Bishop did you also take notice of the number of pupil teachers in the classroom. Because of politics ges has. becomes grounds for settlement. Plz daddy tell the boss we will continue to decline in education if we dnt change that private policy.
