To be fair to the US Embassy in Ghana, I think most applicants either do not properly prepare their applications or are truly not ready for the trip before applying for the visa. We hear more of those who were rejected than the several who are given the visas on application. I applied for an American visa in 2012 being the very first time.when I went for the interview, the queues were really long either waiting outside in the yard or in the building. As I waited, I saw a few people before me bounced. Some of them by their demeanour and how they answered the very few questions indicated that I would have bounced them if I were the interviewer. When it came to my turn, I was asked about two questions concerning issues I had stated in the form. After two questions I was told to come for my visa after one week. In one week I had my 5-year visa even though I indicated I was going to the US on holiday for two weeks. I still have the visa I had used only once. My assessment is that the decision is made based on the information provided on the application form. The rest is a matter of matching the individual with the application.

At the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC, one may choose to download a visa application form or pick one up from the Consular Section but, the visa application fee must still be paid as well as the visa issuance fee. The Embassy collects this BEFORE one's application is considered. The only difference between Osu & Van Ness is that very seldom are visas to Ghana refused.

have over thousand dollars for Ticket & more to move around in the States, why worry about visa fees in cedis? what about GH-missions abroad, check them first.
