In 1979 my daughter aged 15 had a brain cancer. She was admitted to Bartholomew Hospital in London. When her GCSE exam was due she told us Dad, Mum I want to sit the exam We could not believe what we heard. When we had failed to convince her not to do so and risk her life, we went to see her doctor. The doctor told us that our daughter had already told him and he was waiting for us to visit her so he could tell us and what arrangement was being made. On the day of the exam she taken to exam hall by an ambulance and a nurse stood by in case she needed medical attention. After the exam she was taken back to the hospital by ambulance. We waited at the hospital for her to be brought back.
When she saw us she was smiling though she was in pain. She told us that she was so relieved that it is all over and something terrible would have happened to her if she had missed the exam.
She took 5 subjects, got A in three, B in one and C in one
Unfortunately few months after the results were released she died.
