We don't want another election petition in 2016 - Ablakwa warns NPP

Deputy Education Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has advised the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be quick in resolving their internal wrangling since the ruling NDC would not want to beat a “cheap opposition” in 2016.

“We want to avoid another election petition case where they could possibly go to the court and claim that their polling agents were busily fighting among themselves and so they could not monitor the election.

“They could say the Ashanti agents were fighting the Akyems so they could not pay attention to the counting,” the former deputy Information Minister stated on Radio Gold’s 'Alhaji and Alhaji' Saturday.

The NPP is in a state of confusion as seven regional branches have called for the resignation of their national chairman Paul Afoko and general secretary Kwabena Agyepong following the killing of its Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama.

Mr Mahama died after he was acid attacked by some unknown assailants.

The two national executives have been accused of masterminding the crime.
