Long over due approach!
Good idea to fast-track solar energy in Ghanaian! homes and streets.
We've long argued that the power requirements of homes in Ghana are very, very low, compared to other countries. Therefore, there is no point tying every household to the national power grid at this stage in the development of power infrastructure.
However, we do not believe that should be the work of the "Energy Commission" - buying, installing, funding and financing the scheme.
Further, every step should be fully transparent so we do not get people stealing government funds to enrich themselves and their communities to the disadvantage of others.

IT'S EVEN SO MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE WHEN YOU BUY THEM IN LARGE QUANTITIES. It costs about only Gh.2K ... Not a bad idea. The private sector is already making a killing in this business.

Also stop the communist way of implenting solar technology just make it tax free and I am sure the bussiness people will get it going.
The problem with these shallow minded ministers and MP's are that they think the Government can and must fix all the problems but that is not true even in the USA

Perhaps the reporter just quoted figures of his head. The cost of solar system with the capacity to produce energy for a home in Ghana is obviously more than GHS6000. Even a one-bedroom self-contained home, with very minimum energy requirements, would require a system worth in excess of GHS6000. Get your facts right.
