The scripture does not portray a submissive relationship between John the Baptist (JTB) and Jesus Christ. JTB had his own disciples and Jesus had His. I know this because the disciples of Jesus asked why the disciples of JTB fast and they don't. The same JTB who told us Jesus was the messiah, later when he was in prison sent some of his disciples to go and ask Jesus if He was the Messiah. So may I please ask, what sort of relationship existed between JTB and Jesus that you want the same for Catechists and Pastors? Why didn't JTB himself, his disciples and or followers follow Jesus but he still went on preparing the way for the Messiah when the Messiah was already in town?
