To be honest with ourselves, can someone sincerely in his correct, balanced and right frame of mind tell me if this Mahama government and his finance minister make any sense at all? Is it wrong for a Ghanaian to tell these people they are simply not performing? This sycophancy must stop. Its better to put them on their toes than for us to throw our arms into the air.

Some aspects of terkper is good when it comes to putting in the financial controls which stops the blatant looting of funds. However once the funds have been allocated to the various ministries the auditor/accountant /attorney general becomes the gate keepers and the effectiveness of these offices is weak to say the least. Another thing which terkper is being criticised for but with hind sight turned out to be a good thing is the hedging. That would have fixed petrol prices at a time when prices were very high. By not continuing with the practice, we are able to take advantage of the extremely low market prices. But terkper is the only bright light I see in that government. The vast majority lack the experience, integrity, skills and most of all the will to work for the country.

Members of the NDC,no matter which position they hold, hate to be told the truth.
Is Prof,Kusi lying about the economy? The answer is a big no.From the Presidency to the District level,Government has and is overspending its budget allocation every year.Every Ministry and all Local Governments are in debt.Developement projects are not being undertaling,if it does,we have to take a loan or wait for a grant from a donor Country.
Is this what, this AlHaj news paper calls a prudent economy management?
I really wonder why,Ghanaians in particular, will rather put their welbeing above the Nation they are supposed to serve.
Lets all face facts, the hardships and the mismanagement of the economy,is this the reason why Ghanaians voted for the NDC?
At times we must be honest enough, and do what will benefit our dear Nation, after all, Party come Party goes,Ghana will still be there. Why don`t we all be a bit selfless, and put the Nation above our ownselfish interest, and stop all these lies about the economy doing good?We don`t even have electricity for our industries, and this paper wants to tell us everything is alright, all in the name of politics.
At the end of the day,non of us is going to live more 100years,so why all this greed, why don`t build this Country for the next generation.Stop the corruption, stop the lies and the stealing of Nation`s coffers.

I am not happy with this article, the writer is a bootlicker. It appears as if one cannot comment objectively on issues in this country. I believe the institute and Imani Ghana can't both be wrong and the Finance Minster is always right. the Cedi has suffered worse depreciation under Tekpehs watch, unbridled borrowing, fiscal indiscipline taking us to the IMF, industry suffering, the list goes on. What is wrong if a Think Tank says it as it is. In any case, does the government have any Think Tank? Let us have fresh ideas and Give us a break with these dining hall appointments and fix the country's mounting problems.

The finance minister like any other finance director plays an important role in any organisation or country but those driving the success of the organisation are the CEO/President and operational management /ministers.
In the case of ghana, prudent measures by a finance minister will have no impact if ministers like the energy, transport, trade, education and the other key ministries are not pulling their weight. A bad finance minister would obviously frustrate the efforts of good ministers but clearly that is not the case in Ghana.

In NDC logic, anybody or group or institution that criticise NDC stealing are NPP supporters. So how can NPP be wrong when they said Afari Djan rigged the 2012 elections? If everbody, except Ewes are NPP who voted for NDC because Ewes are just about 10 percent of Ghana's population

Dr. Duffuor is in support and also part of Prof. Kusi's dubious destructive agenda. They want to score political point for falling out of favour from the government. Dr. Duffour is part of the plot in retaliation against the government. It is all about politics. IMANI don't receive financial support from this government like NPP was doing for them so they are peeved that they want NPP back to power at all cost. It will backfire in Jesus' name, Amen. They would rather, help the government if not for their stomach alone.

Think-Tanks are just that; what they are supposed to be. They are tanks with muddled assembly of diverse thoughts. When a Think-Tank even comes out with a consensus on an issue, it does not still, necessarily, make that consensus the very best for a Nation to live by.
We should understand that many of such Institutions have definitive political agenda that they deliberately hide behind lofty names. But even so, we must not always jump to conclusions in personalizing anything they come out with, unless it specifically zones on an individual.
So, we should not always be incensed with what such bodies churn out. If whatever any of them claims is expository that needs to be paid closer attention, we should only take that as a lead to discovery of facts and not, necessarily, the source of the facts itself.
Hence, this brouhaha over Dr. Kusi's digression from what the Finance Ministry has asserted should not be a big deal. In fact, it should not be given any higher ranking than it really deserves, and must not be thought of as designed to destroy anyone in the Government in particular .
In this case, Dr. Terkper must not be seen as a target for IFS' disagreement with the policies in force at the Ministry. It is the policies that have been scrutinized, not Dr. Terkper. IFS has every right to question any policy it thinks is incongruous with the agenda to grow the Economy. That should not be personalized the way this Al-hajj Newspaper is making it out to be.
It is important for the Public to note that the allegation of vengeance is only an insinuation by the Paper. The Paper failed to tell the Public what the row was, specifically, that Dr. Kusi had with Dr. Terkper. It is presumptuous that a whole National Newspaper, without evidential facts, would allege the reason why an Institution opposes the current policies of the Finance Ministry is because the head of the former has a personal vendetta to strike at the Minister. Let Al-Hajj tell us what the row was about, or recant its allegation against IFS and Dr. Kusi.
This kind of reportage by Al-Hajj is dangerous, and must be examined for proper action by the Media Commission. If the Al-Hajj has any concrete evidence that Dr. Kusi is simply seeking some vendetta against Dr. Terkper, let the paper tell the Public what the vendetta is really about. Anything short of that is blatantly treacherous and defamatory.
Then, also, with regard to the Oil hedging, even if the Parliament had wanted the hedging to stop, but the Minister knew in his heart and roomy brain that the policy was best suited to Ghana's Economic situation, he should have insisted on keeping it, or Publicly disown the Parliamentary policy and inform the Public that the Parliament would be responsible for any negative repercussions from it.
The Public would be best served to see any records of a Parliamentary debate leading to the dropping of the Hedging.
The failure of the Minister to clearly show his position on the issue makes him part of the acquiescent crowd, and hence, liable for any blame of loss to the Nation. In that sense, Dr. Kusi is right. Period!
We have to acknowledge that Dr. Kusi blamed a set of policies, not individuals. It is the Newspaper that is personalizing the issue, and the Public must reject those scandalous allegations and reportage by the Paper.
The fact remains that the Nation lost that $2.7 Billion. Someone made a mistake. And who should we point at in this circumstance, at least, to begin seeking answers? Someone has to be held accountable. And so far as our finances are concerned, the first entity to take the brunt of Public discontent is the Minister of Finance. How vengeful is that on personal terms?
Long Live Ghana!!!

My limited level of classroom education but a whole lot of applicable thinking processing and evaluative skills tells me Ghana continues to lag behind other nation because of the ongoing long standing belief that highly educated classroom folks have wisdom; they do not. If after 50+ years of independence and 40+ years after the overthrow of our first president in 1966 we do have less than 50 percent commercial and residential properties with indoor plumbing facilities while every land of viable commercial value is owned by foreigners then our belief system is flawed.
All the PhD level holders who have served in one capacity or another in governments past and present are abject failures with no exception. It is more so damning of those who acquired their classroom degrees from universities and colleges outside Ghana who should know better but have made Ghana worse off than those who had it all in Ghana. Do people forget that if our constitution is flawed they are to convince their governments and co-legislators to amend it? Are these folks unaware that they had the right to institute best practices and procedures and employee culture upon taking the reins?
It get so tiring when politically motivated idiots selfishly become critics of government actions when there is no shred of evidence to support an idea that some good past practice and procedures are being ignored by current administrators that has lead to losses or inefficiencies. Why was Ghana an official beggar nation on the global scene if every administrator in the Kufour era did such a wonderful job above and beyond the call of duty? Why has Ghana been in this funk since 1966 and seen nations like South Korea and other non-aligned nations surge in development while we wallow in misery? Dr. Duffour and other can hide behind thinly veiled politically motivated partisan attacks from lousy Ghanaian think tanks all he want but in the end he will have to reconcile Ghana@50 abuses, the sale of Ghana Telecom, Ghana Airways, and all the other silliness that shaped Kufours tribal powers of distorted invisibility.
