The answer to your question is that, some CPP members wanted Nkrumah dead because Nkrumah had started arresting and imprisoning some Cpp members and others had started running away from Ghana including "Afro" Gbedemah who used to be the Finance Minister.

After Nkrumah's overthrow some of them were heard publicly bragging about how they did that. The UP is a well known terrorist organization and no matter how strong they try to push that image on other groups it will not wash. Was it the CPP too that was doing the primitive killings of supporters of Nkrumah in Kumasi and Accra in those days?

Who masterminded the plan to ensure that Busia campaigned across Ghana under the guise of Center for Civic Education while the CPP was banned from engaging in politics? Was it not Afrifa as head of the NLC? And who was the true leader of the NLCD if not Afrifa? Kotoka was used as head of the NLC because Busia, and his UP, the CIA and America., for they were aware that the Ghana military in 1966 was dominated by persons from the Volta Region. Thus, to ensure the the coup received the support of the the military personnel from the Volta Region, a decision was made to make Kotoka the head of the NLC, making it seem as if Kotoka planned and carried out the coup. The same goes for the Police Department. Thus Harley and Deku were added to the NLC. Only Afrifa knew exactly that the UP and Busia were the hooligans acting with the CIA to achieve their goal of derailing Nkrumah and the CPP by coup since they could not win at the ballot box. The UP was conveniently changed by Busia to PP, the same machine that eventually transformed itself into the NPP. Aside from Afrifa who was the poit person for Afrifa, the rest of the NLC members had no idea that UP was behind the plan for the coup; they thought America was just fed up with Nkrumah and wanted him out. The CIA deceived the military and police into believing that Nkrumah was was about to undermine their departments, thus giving Kotoka, Deku, and Harley a reason to buy into the coup plan.Isn;t strange that Kotoka was the only member of the NLC to be killed in a failed coup attempt, while Ankrah also was undermined by Busia and Afrifa by using Nzeribe the crook as their bait? Thus, after getting rid of Ankrah and Kotoka, Afrifa took over the NLC and immediately went to work to pass decrees that would ensure that Busia would run for President without much opposition, since one of the decrees barred most CPP members from running for political office. So, any doubt as to which party Afrifa belonged? The UP , with coaching from the CIA, always blamed CPP for acts of violence carried out by the UP against Nkrumah. That's what

The possible forgiven interests on the loans acquired by the President's brother, Ibrahim Mahama, to purchase his luxury private Jet alone could have sufficed to keep this lady living decently for the rest of her life.

President John Agyekum Kufuor, too, could have seized the opportunity to consolidate his reconciliation efforts by offering the lady similar compensation. The funds used in procuring the Medallions President Kufuor purchased to decorate himself and other few Ghanaians could have also been put to the better use of providing that compensation to the lady and others in her situation.

This shows how shortsighted our contemporary leaders have been regarding victims of our own Nation's buffoonery.

That is such a puerile claim I would not ordinarily associate with someone of your general elucidation. However, you are so intractably steeped in hatred for Nkrumah that you cannot simply accept the truth that the Opposition was behind the many assassination attempts on Nkrumah, including the Kulungugu Bombing.

If you were any true patriot and a descent believer in Christ as you once purported to be, you would be among the first to acknowledge the impropriety of the tactics the Opposition adopted to rid of Nkrumah.

As much as all of us Ghanaians appreciate Democracy most, and abhor dictatorships, we must not put things in the right perspective and concede that had the Opposition stayed with its own democratic, non-violent principles, Nkrumah would not have any recourse to adopt a dictatorship. And if the Opposition had been wiser and better at presenting their case to the Electorate, they would have eventually won a General Election to kick Nkrumah off his post.

Any entrenchment of Nkrumah in his Post was indirectly helped by the brutal, savage acts by the Opposition. He earned lots of sympathy votes along with his ride on popularism at the time.

So, for once, show some honesty in your calculations and admit that the UP Opposition erred in its brutally violent rampage to ouster Nkrumah.

Not even once have we heard any staunch UP/NLM-NPP member express the slightest sympathy for this suffering victim of their vicious crime against Ghanaians.

All you always do is rain insipid insults and derogative attacks on those who do so. That is very much shameful. It does not in any way portray courage and wisdom at all!!

Imagine the amount of goodwill any pro-UP Government could have derived from across the entire Citizenry, had it offered to assist this Bomb victim in some way to ameliorate her life!! Answer: If those caught were exonerated, does it follow that the UP was responsible? Upon what basis do you accuse the UP if Nkrumah's own investigations did not implicate any of its main members?

BTW, you must also add that when those CPP architects were exonerated, Nkrumah dismissed the Chief Justice and ordered a retrial by judges he himself selected. And of course they returned a guilty verdict which he approved!

And why must Crabbe prove his innocence in a criminal trial? In such a trial, the burden of proof is upon the prosecution, and it is beyond a reasonable doubt!

However, I made the case that it was the Opposition that masterminded the Bombing and therefore it did not matter even if some of Nkrumah's own Party members had been implicated in the said crime. Besides, while it does not necessarily follow that if the CPP folks were exonerated it automatically meant the Opposition had to be blamed for the crime, there were plenty of evidence to point the Bombing to the Opposition who had for almost a decade persistently attempted to assassinate the late President.

Every descent person with any modicum of honesty in him or her must be able to give credit where due, even to his or her enemies. It baffles you to recognize that I have expressed my admiration for certain attributes in some of the UP leaders as well as in Nkrumah, and criticized both sides where I deem appropriate. That, to you looks incoherent. It is not in my power to judge anyone of them as an evil person. But I find it necessary to call out what I believe they all did wrong or right. In your tightly restrained mental valve, nothing flows through that isn't in favor of your typical UP sanctimonious stance, despite the glaring public awareness of that Party's violent ways.

Nkrumah was showered with praises and touted as a leader that was intent on helping his Citizens succeed in all aspects of living. That's not unusual in Ghanaian Culture. Our Chiefs who hardly do anything to improve on the People's lives even have had glorious heroic appellations doled upon them, and we live with that. None of such pampering support by fellow Ghanaians ever suggest the leaders enjoying it were believed to be God and capable of providing Utopia to the People.

However, it is understandable how the general euphoria People felt for having finally attained Independence from the brutal discriminatory imperialists made them to accord excess praises for the leaders who stayed the struggle to earn them that Freedom.

You are simply jealous that such a Public recognition was not extended to the UP leaders but went to Nkrumah, instead. Hence, your endless assault on the man's entire human presence on this Earth.

The funny thing about your attitude is that none of your political idols, past or current, is infallible, or has shown to be more helpful to Ghanaians than Nkrumah ever was.

So, cut that condescending name calling out and begin to show real constructive and honest assessment of how things were then in Nkrumah's era and now.

It is not just when it comes to CPP and NDC that I strongly object to many of the arguments you and Dr. SAS and others ram down our throats with your eloquence.

I have been waiting for a long time to hear for just once a concession from either of you that the UP/NLM did some horrible things that provoked Nkrumah to over-react. Not once. And, yet, we have someone like Dr. SAS coming to impugn our intelligence and arrogantly claim some silhouette of a superiority in Logic over the rest of us. How condescending!

A good lot of Ghanaians have endured such impudence, raw uncouthness, and dehumanizing insults from your side for way too long.

It is far beyond a reasonable temporal space that you guys accepted your part of the errors we all, as Ghanaians, made in the past. You always present yourselves as some infallible angels who were denied any role in building the Nation by Nkrumah. You keep exaggerating the nature of his dictatorship both in its duration and intensity, while singing praises to other dictators of his peerage who were no more benign than he was. You never concede the fact that the villainous activities by the Opposition to detract Nkrumah contributed to the Economic difficulties Ghana eventually got stuck in, even as your political idols colluded with the imperialists to strangle the Economy to help your cause.

These are some of the few reasons why I come down hard on your position regarding CPP or NDC. In fact, I have rarely held any brief for NDC. I might only demand that you use the same rod to measure its members as you would NPP folks or CPP folks, etc. So, be fair! One thing I have noticed to be almost a tradition among us Ghanaians is our inability to separate our sentiments from facts to enable us find pragmatic solutions to our common problems.

Whenever an issue arises, we quickly surround it with vengeful emotions, or tribal, or ethnic, or radical extremist partisan sentiments. Then, we fail to pursue the real roots of issues and reach way far back to blame all on Nkrumah, even if those roots only recently sprouted.

I could not believe, for example, how our current "Dumsor, Dumsor" albatross was recently blamed on Nkrumah by one of your folks, Sarpong! It is such kind of totally vacuous claims against the late President that riles me. It is like we always want to dodge the real roots of the problems and dump all our own insidious shortfalls on him.

How then could Ghana pull herself out of the hole we find ourselves in? We do not hear the likes of Dr. SAS offering plausible alternative solutions to our problems. Rather, they would rain brimstone and fire on Nkrumah and his contemporary followers for the problems we face.

That strongly suggests a certain irresponsibility or laziness in brainstorming for the needed solutions on the part of such fellas as Dr. SAS and Dr. Amoako Baah.

Mr. Sarpong you are only looking at one Macro economic indicator. I can understand you are a UP supporter and as a result have no qualms with twisting the truth where Nkrumah and the CPP is concern to make your case or in the least make Nkrumah look bad.

But the way I look at it is, where Ghana was after over 100 years of whiteman's rule and the progress Nkrumah made from 1957 to 1966. One does not need a PhD in logic to know that in spite of the natural human frailties of which Nkrumah is not immune, Ghana did indeed start off in the right direction.

That is not to say mistakes weren't made, but they could have been corrected along the way. Even advanced countries always go back to review their policies and programs for the purpose of revising and improving them.

The truth is the multiple military coups did more damage to Ghana than the mistakes of Nkrumah. It will be nice if UP people will put blame where they belong.

I have always said that the reason of removing Nkrumah because of economic reason was not tenable. I rather supports the coup because Nkrumah had made himself President for life and made the country a one party state.

Yes, the blame was made by Nkrumah when he made himself President for life and declared Ghana as a one party state, that is what caused his downfall.

Anyway, it was not only the GDP, inflation was rising, interest rate was going up, shortage of essential commodities, people were lining up to buy things due to shortages, something that never happened during colonial rule, high taxes and others.

Colonial rulers never made any serious effort to build a nation for Ghanaians, and therefore has no reasons to spike inflation, interest rate nor cause commodity shortages.

The colonial rulers primary interest was taking our mineral resources away to Europe. How many roads did they construct, how many schools did they build. Over one hundred years of their rule Ghana never had a full-fledge university. Even the university college of Ghana (legon) did not have programs considered to be most relevant for national development such as Administration, Medicine, Engineering etc.

Why won't there be inflation if so much infrastructural development is taking, such as new schools, Tema Township development, Tema Harbour, Akosombo hydro electric project. All of these pour money into the economy so naturally there will be inflation. It was only a matter of time that they would have been addressed or remedied. When the colonial ruler build the railway line, they only did so along the resource rich areas of western Ghana... from Takoradi to Kumasi. Just so that they can deplete our minerals.

Ghanaians were so ignorant that is why they bought into this notion of making a coup because of inflation.

It is my belief that the Nkrumaist authorities must have hidden the victim for their own propaganda purposes and to justify Nkrumah's eventual metamorphosis into an arrant dictator.

Under such circumstances, who do we blame for this heinous neglect of a totally innocent person? Now when it suited the NDC inheritors of the Nkrumaist ideology, they now feature this sad story for whatever political point they can glean out of it.
