It makes a lot of social and economic sense to apportion some part of the oil money to western region for development. However, 10% of the oil money makes no sense at all. Even 1% will do a lot of good. The chiefs should understand that the oil is for the whole country. When there was no oil, children from western region also had Cocoa Marketing Board Scholarships and other assets of the nation. That was fair given the fact that much of the cocoa money and others were coming from other regions including Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Eastern. Now, to claim 10% of the oil money for royalties, may be a stretch because Ghana itself has only about 12.5% of the oil income that comes to the nation. Think first before you make irrational demands

The chiefs are asking for 10% of the oil revenue to gov't to be given to the Western region for development projects. This is not an unreasonable demand given that the oil fields and other primary produce are to be found in Western region.

The sea is a national property and unlike land is totally invested in the state. No local community owns any part of the sea. They should stop bustling our ears with such demands. In any case, I don't believe any govt worth its salt would neglect them in terms of development. Already they are enjoying much development accruing from the discovery of the oil.

I will like to use this opportunity to advise all the NDC members and it sympathizers to buckle up to face Nana Akanfuo Buhari Binaddo in 2016 to retire him from Ghana politics entirely. Every NDC members must keep it in mind that , 2016 is a critical year for all of us to work hard to prove ourselves again to Ghana and the entire world that , the 2012 elections is 120% free and fairly , but the Akan's Npp proceeded to Supreme Court with a BOGUS pink sheets to OVER TURN our hard earn VOTE. Why not give 10% of revenue coming from timber not be given to the chiefs of the various areas where timber is found?

How pro-active can these chiefs be as they relish what could have been? Is it not a shame, a travesty of justice that Obuasi, Prestea, Tarkwa, Abosso, Akwatia still maintain their shanty town/ghost town status and wallow in unimaginable poverty when billions of dollars worth of precious minerals have been mined from these places and shipped overseas to enrich the economies of other countries? That's the pinnacle of excessive foolishness and dumb ass economic management and policies. We cannot and must not re-live this traumatic past. Anyone pervious to reason and common sense will not be mad at these western chiefs who are nothing but pure-bred patriots. Does anyone have the slightest idea how much Tsatsu Tsikata and others like him have made just mismanaging our oil wealth? How about Mr Mould, the current chief executive of GNPC? When are we going to awaken from slumber? It's daybreak, Ghana! The european countries built their beautiful cities and their robust economies from the wealth of Africa. What's is gravy for the goose should be heaven for the gander. We can also re-build our towns and villages to ultra modern city status. When are we going to say enough is enough or are we destined to be hewers of wood? If you answer no then pay heed to these wise chiefs from the west.

What counts is PROPER MANAGEMENT of the nation's resources to benefit the WHOLE COUNTRY. Finally what has the government been using the oil money for, it is about time the citizens of Ghana demand their share of national cake. Why should a nation like our have to house law makers and government appointed at the expense of the nation and tax payer. We provide free transportation, free accommodation, free petrol, and free everything and they still steal from us. The people must stand-up and fight for our beloved country because politician are take advantage of the voters
