The infra structure of a sound university alone suggests that instead of proliferation of universities the current ones should be better resourced. NAFTI should be absorbed by UG which already has a performing arts school. Students at NAFTI can take advantage of UG facilities such as history, geography, physics (light and sound) electronics etc.

NAFTI can't have an autonomous administration when it becomes part of UG. It might be a School under probably the College of Humanities or College of Education as is the current structure, with its head being a dean. If it is departmentalised, then it will have dept heads. Colleges are headed by provosts who answer to the VC. If it is to become part of the Sch of Performing Arts, then it will be a Department under the school.

This is not about NDC! Past govts have neglected NAFTI and that is the reason for current dilemma. The ONLY educational institution in the country not under Ministry of Education! Past govts never saw it wise to correct this!

School of Performing Arts runs film programmes at the undergrad and masters levels. So NAFTI being made part of the School under UG will be a good idea since NAFTI's current affiliation with UG for the award of degrees is through the Sch of Perf Arts. NAFTI can become a 4th dept in the school in addition to Theatre Arts, Dance Studies and Music and form a stronger creative training unit.

NAFTI in its case has to grow to become Africa's premier media university as it has the potential to.
Proliferation of graduates is also a good thing. There will be fewer and fewer jobs to absorb them and many will naturally become entrepreneurs and there will be a proliferation of MSMEs which will grow the national economy quicker.
The money from foreign students too cannot be ignored. Ghana is almost the Mecca of education in West Africa. That position will be strengthened.
