Prof Ocquaye knows this is one of the systemic failures hanging around our necks. What he didnt do was to wait until he and his NPP had been booted out of power before he said it. Government business is other peoples money so it is misused BY HEART. No accountability. Can anybody tell me how many Ghanaian politicians (from the presidency) have been held accountable after their terms of office before. They only gather some sycophants around to make outrageous recommendations as their end of service benefits. and they get it. How can a former boss of SSNIT receive his pension pay and take away A BUNGALOW BUILT WITH OUR MONEY as part of end of service benefit. Jake took a cue from this and also did the same thing. The systemic failures are deliberate and something mush happen. But Osman, I agree with you that we should vote wisely but certainly not for NPP. Because they are WORSE THIEVES AND NATION LOOTERS than NDC

It does not affect them. At the end of every 4-year term they will collect their fat End of Service Benefits (ESB) which has nothing to do with SSNIT. This is about life and not politics. Some poeple have not worked before yet they find themselves in politices and amass wealth. We have toiled, rain or shine and in the long run we are going to suffer for the sake of bad management. Where is our God or the gods of the land. I am appealing to the powers that be to rethink and reverse the decision. After working for several years I cannot be an armed robber or take to the streets, may the Lord forbid. Those who crave for power and got it should do the right thing for it was human beings who put them there. God will punish them if things do not go right. We should think twice and vote wisely.

There are a couple of weapons the poor workers could use to hit the Government hard. And when I say 'the Government', I mean including the Parliament.
First, the People must demand that the Ex-Gratia for the Executive and other Government Officials, including the MPs, that Kufuour rammed down our throats be nullified, or scaled down to than 37%.
The second thing is that we should demand that all Officials, again, including the MPs, who failed to declare their Assets prior to taking up their Official Duties must be forced out of Office immediately, and if they might have acquired any wealth within their terms of Office that would not be ordinarily possible under the limits of their remunerations, those assets must be confiscated to the State.
We seem to be living in a Country where the Laws apply differently to the Officials and the rest of the Population, to the Nation's detriment.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Those who blame the present government for this are being dishonest. Previous governments have abused the Charter for the formation of SSNIT by branching into forbidden areas and granting loans to questionable entities and individuals who couldn't pay back. Former President Kuffour, for example, defaulted on his loan to establish a Brick and Tile Factory. He didn't set up the factory and only God knows what happened to the loan.
The present government is only doing what has become very necessary to make the scheme solvent. Even in the US, you have to work longer than some years ago in order to fully enjoy your pension benefits.
For the workers to have confidence in what the government is doing, the government should publish the detailed activities of SSNIT including revenues to and loans from SSNIT over, for example, the last 30 years so that the workers know what's happening. Even though I guarantee that workers will be horrified, it would've marked the beginning of a new era when they can give suggestions as to what can be done to improve the situation because after all, it's their money.

The govt and the Legislature especially, are culpable or culprits to the problem. The question is, why should the legislative arm of gov't(the representatives of the people)condone and connive with gov't to reduce the pension of workers from about 50 - percent to about 37percent.
So how do the gov't; a culprit or contributing factor to the present SSNIT low pension earnings, intervene
?.In my personal opinion, the demand by the TUC leadership or whatever, should be positive and straight to the point !
That : Gov't /Legislature,should resolve to repeal(revoke/abrogate) the
37percent to the former percentage 50 percent of best 3 years. Again,SSNIT investment portfolio should be scrutinized to be streamlined for the better. And what is the Fiscal Policy of the gov't ? Anyway.
