  The people Oseikrom and its environs are in the state of fear as they have heard that the directives from the Chief Justice to release remand prisoners would set the free the man Yaw Gyamfi of Atwima Koforidua who has raped and defiled almost about 13 females (girls under 16 years, married and unmarried women, who once went into robbery with Fatau and some Fulanis now serving 75yaers at Ankaful maximum prison and who boast of shooting dead a police officer at Mankranso barrier some 5 years ago. The people want to know that if such a deviant person is on remand pending trial at the Law court, why would the CJ who is a gender activist allow such a person to come out to continue his atrocities to women in general

  Some offences like murder, rape are not even bailable. It is not such Criminals on remand that the system will release. We are talking about the plantain, Cassava, chicken thieves and a few who have been involved in some petit crimes but have been on remand for years in some cases.
  With regard to compensation, legal aid can initiate compensation for them because some do not know their rights. If someone was unjustifiably remanded for that long time, it is the responsibility of legal aid to initiate compensation for them, at least for them to start new life. The director for legal aid should not say it will be difficult.
