  What are some of the much touted innovations created by the students? Looks like the fair was all about speeches. I wonder who teaches these reporters how to do professional reporting?

  Ajit, you absolutely right about bad reporting of Ghanaian Journalist. The problem is that unlike their foreign counterpart who have an idea of the topic or subject they are going to cover about, Ghanaian Journalists are assigned by preference with the intention that when you return from your assignment, you have to bring an envelop to your departmental head.
  
  I know Professor Kuma very well that after completing his Doctorate Degree in USA, many companies in US were seeking his services but turn them down to come and help his native Ghana. If the Government of Ghana is to invest in the area of Mining Technology under Prof. Kuma, I bet you with more dedication from the students, Ghana will produce highly qualified Mining Technologist in the shortest possible time. There are lot of qualified Ghanaian Professionals abound but partisanship is not making it possible for some to return home.

  The economy is hitting many families hard and many have run out of ideas.

  The university's curriculum is needs to change drastically. Ghana is well endowed with all sorts of minerals yet there are no mining companies owned and operated professionally by Ghanaians. The type of innovation the Ghanaian taxpayer expects from these students is how they can partner colleagues in other disciplines (business admin, law, engineering), banks, venture capital entities and other mining-related stakeholders in order to create many bankable mining companies along the mining value chains. This is what today's innovation is all about. If the average Ghanaian without any training in mining engineering can venture into galamseys, why can't our professional engineers from Tarkwa to do even better?

  The type of innovation Ghanaian taxpayers expect fro these akapompo students is how they can team up with students from other disciplines such as Business Administration, Banks and other mining related-stakeholders to create Ghanaian owned mining companies along the mining value chain.
  
  This is the kind of innovation we need in today's world. Build mining businesses so that you can create jobs for our youth and contribute meaningfully toward the socio-economic growth of the country.
