...Until we have changed the way our government operates and the legislative and executive arms earn the income that suits their input, there will be no change in the life of the ordinary Ghanaian; by that I don't mean only poor people, but anybody outside politics who is also not a celebrity.
What do I mean by that? Until parliamentarians and ministers stop getting wages that they don't deserve, they will never see any reason why Ghanaians are complaining. If they see the need for all the benefits that they have allotted to themselves to make life comfortable because to them that is the reality of today's economic condition, why do they think that comfort should be denied others outside politics? People of Ghana, your legislators and the executive arm will never change anything to their disadvantage. It is you and I who will have to change the status quo. I'm bringing this up today and I believe people will take it up from here and talk about it till the constitution is amended. The amendment must see a change in the situation where legislators pass bills on benefits that goes to them without any trouble, but refuse to do the same for others. They must not decide how much they earn; that must be decided by the people, and it must go up in proportion with that of the rest of us. The free this and free that must cease. That does not make them feel what we feel, and therefore does not lead to taking sensible decisions to solve our problems. It will also be less attractive to nobodies who resign their jobs to seek greener pasture there only to enrich themselves.
The second issue is the situation where a parliamentarian is given a ministerial appointment yet, continue to be a legislator. Yes, the constitution allows that, but common sense must tell us that it is not proper, and they can never perform efficiently in both capacities. I'm therefore not surprise that things are not working for us. Somebody must talk about this, I have started it. Let's talk and call for a change. We have the power to turn things around. The politicians will not do it, left to them alone.

Lee Kuan Yew, founder of modern Singapore, dies at 91
NKrumah's ruling strategy worked in Singapore.
As Ghanaians We should be ashamed of ourselves for overthrowing Nkrumah and now finding ourselves in these humiliating conditons. Ghana, a country rich in mineral resources with rich and fertile land mass importing food from outside, and always begging for financial handout because the citizenry is not trained scientifically for self development.
Nkrumah's experimentation with scientific socialism, and his deep interest
in science and engineering, was what could have propelled Ghana to have become
one of the world's richest nations.
Everything Nkrumah did was not right but everything he did was to increase the living
standards of his fellow Ghanaians. He was human.
It is not dictatorship that doesn't work, it is lack of vision, mismanagement and corruption that ruin nations. Nkrumah had vision.
Be aware that China is still a communist country today but has the second largest economy with the highest number of engineers in the world. It is free with good financial management. Lots of Africans are going there to seek greener pastures because of the scarcity of opportunities in their home countries.
SINGAPORE (AP) — Lee Kuan Yew, who founded modern Singapore and was both feared for his authoritarian tactics and admired for turning the city-state into one of the world's richest nations, died Monday, the government said. He was 91.
Singapore a country with few natural resources.
He faced criticism, though, for using tough tactics to consolidate power. He jailed some political rivals without trial for decades and brought defamation lawsuits against journalists and opposition politicians, which had a chilling effect on dissent. Lee insisted that strict limits on free speech and public protest were necessary to maintain stability in a multiethnic and multi-religious country that witnessed race riots in the 1960s. That stability, he added, was needed to enable growth and raise living standards in a country with few natural resources.
"I had to do some nasty things, locking fellows up without trial," Lee said in an interview with The New York Times published in September 2010. "I'm not saying everything I did was right. But everything I did was for an honorable purpose."
Lee, whose People's Action Party has ruled Singapore since 1959, remained a powerful adviser with Cabinet minister status after stepping down as prime minister, and many Singaporeans, particularly older ones, viewed him as a wise, if strict, father figure.

Nobody can hide the light and true destiny of the great nation of Akan. they use all kinds of schemes and tricks to undermine or deny a proper standard to us but we shall never surrender. we shall change and adapt as like the Israelis we are the chosen people of God and he in his great design has made us diverse but unified in spirit. the ashantis like the tribe of Judah are and will remain an integral part of our being to to attack any one part we all end up feeling it sooner or later. they have succeed in turning some of our chiefs and kings against us and work for their evil ungodly agenda but we still see clearly . God has brought us into the 21st century and with that a new system of governance and state of mind based on democracy since it is HE alone who blesses the individuals with the gift of leadership wisdom and justice irrespective of status at birth. he has shown us the blue print of the way forward in the bible and other holy books and the time has come to free ourselves from this man made bondage called Ghana. just as in the Ukraine we must fight so the truth will come out , fear not the battle as they will crumble like the walls of Jericho . cast away our so called fake leaders and politicians who are nothing but cowards and like our enemies fear even their own shadows . yes God has put a million fears in their empty bodies as he who does not fear the Lord , the Lord will ensure all fears of the world will reside in him. They threaten us with superstition , juju and what have you and we say fuck you and go to hell as the divine power is with us . Yes all the tribes of Akan are fingers on the same hands and God has ordained we remain united so our strength and light will be visible throughout the whole world and universe , our time has come . everyday its becoming clearer and clearer to all children of Akan that we must prepare mentally for a battle of freedom . they come with tricks that say we must take a non Akan as our leader because its nice ? do they not think that out of 30 million Akans we can not find sensible down to earth leaders and warriors to lead our own people to our own destiny? a govt of the people and by the people is what the 21st century democracy is all about . let them continue to play with the consensus and other figures that justify their fantasy and enable them to marginalize the participation of the Akan majority in the Affairs of their own land , to marginalize us thus preventing us to afford a better standard for our people . The had of God has given them pestilence after pestilence but they refuse to let our people go , soon they will be swept away like chaff in the hurricane of fury . Long live the republic of Akan and don't you forget it as now the Fanti speakers, Twi speakers, Ashantis and other tribes of Akan are now one .

Dr. P.K. Nduom, I beg to differ. Ghana's core problem is not disunity or even tribalism as politicians would like as to believe. Politicians play the tribal card both left and right only to throw dust into eyes of the masses for their own selfish ambition. Trust me, some of us are smarter than that. The problems are as follows:
1. Failure of instituting proper systems for checks and balances across board.
2. Failure to punish and prosecute people of crime and corruption.
3. Failure to address the corrupt Judiciary across the nation.
3. Failure to address issues of national interest ie. Education, healthcare, electricity, clean water, roads and highways with clarity and vision.

Say this to the NDC; they're the nation's number ONE worse offenders of tribalism; they hate Akan tribes people so much nobody can explain. Their kind of hate drove them to harass, molest and kill prominent Akan tribes people, chased some out of Ghana, while others got lost through mysterious ways up to this period in time, never to be found again by their families. These lost-but-never-forgotten people include top Akan business people and chiefs.
It's a story nobody wants to tell; some find it difficult to re-live those horrible days in Ghana's history as a young nation. But it's so true! It's not a matter of urging Ghanaians to unite towards nation building; it's about informing our media, who could trigger ethnic violence and also educating Ghanaians to eschew tribal hatred and seek unity and the sense of bonding and peaceful co-existence among the entire populace.
Quite recently, the NDC had sought to bring their tribal division and polarization into the news, but quickly had to abandon it, since some of us began pointing out the facts to Ghanaians. There are two sides of the story of hatred towards the Akan people by mostly Ewes and some other tribes who'd been wooed or won over to unconsciously join the hate crusade. It's not right!
Akan people suffered under Rawlings and his AFRC/P-NDC henchmen who harboured the notion that they could neutralize them by confiscating their businesses among others---to bring other tribes people at par---in order to curtain the perceived Akan dominance in all spheres of Ghana's business. Appiah Menkah owner of Alpino Soap, Tata Brewery's Mr. Siaw, Kofi Owusu of Kowus Motors (Dealers in VW Vehicles eg, Golf, Beetle ect. and others became their main target.
There's the story that soon after Brig. E.K. Kotoka and Brig. A.A. Afrifa had led the 1966 coup, Lt. Moses Yeboah, and Akan shot Kotoka to death allowing Afrifa to become leader of the NLC. Then Lt. Samuel Arthur also killed Capt. Avivor who was in charge of the Ammunition Depot, in order to get access to the armory. Well, I was wondering if Gen. Ankrah wasn't the leader of the NDC?
So the retired Army Gen. A.A. Africa was dragged from his home to be executed by firing squad alongside Acheampong, Akufo & Co. Strangely, Afrifa's charge was that he was part of the army coup plotters who overthrew a democratically elected gov't. The other side of the story was that he, Afrifa had sent a hand-written note to Akufo, urging his NRC II gov't to speed up the trial process and punish the culprits accordingly. That was to retaliate Kotoka's assassination---it was done in disguise.
We can only move on as a nation when people rise up to demand what's right; when Akans become bold to point out these social ills or hatred that's going on quietly in the country. There should be the awareness; people should be speak out and majority of Ghanaians including honest, progressive and peaceful people from Ewe, Western, Northern and Upper Regions will stand up and join forces to fight what's wrong.
It isn't enough to ask people to come together to build Ghana, while some citizens are hiding behind continuing with their hate agenda. It's just won't work; it's like sweeping dirt or filth under the carpet. It's time to get real and fight the true fight for true freedom, justice and equality. Ghana belongs to all Ghanaians not only to those who feel they have the right to hate others, yet turn around and blame others for tribalism. It is just NOT right!

Dr. Nduom is spot on. The NDC/NPP duopoly's rivalry is such that when either of them is in power, the hardliners of the party in the political wilderness, actively sabotage the nation-building effort, in order to make the party in power unpopular, and thus pave the way for them to return to power.
We must have a government of national unity after the 2016 presidential a d parliamentary ellections - in which the most capable individuals from all the political parties in Ghana work together to transform our country into an African equivalent of the egalitarian societies of Scandinavia.
Bravo to the Nduom, for his commonsense advice. It is the only way we will make some progress in Ghana.
The NDC/NPP duopoly has polarised to such an extent that it is holding the country back from progressing. When the NPP's Kwadjo Owusu-Afriyie said they would make Ghana ungovernable, he knew what he was saying - and the result is the endless public-sector strikes, demonstrations galore and public agitation by sundry groups whenever the opportunity to express disenchantment with some difficulty that in reality is only temporary, presents itself.
In the fullness of time, the nation-wrecking activities of the small number of hardliners in the NPP will be exposed - and Ghanaian s will come to understand why we must unite to turn this country around again.
Ruthless politicians like Bernard Antwi-Boasiako and his ilk have a lot to answer for. One day they will meet their Maker - and no doubt pay for all the harm they caused ordinary people in their desperate quest for power. Hmm, Ghana - eyeasem o. Asem ebeba debi anksa!

I am really saddened to hear that Dr Paa Kwasi Nduom declaring that success of Ghana,s development lies in the unified or unity of the country . Perhaps , l am or maybe from the twelve planet and could not actually , or do not understand the kind of unity he is inferring , or talking about , therefore would give him another opportunity to clarify . Until then , if l did read him correctly , and as the headline implied , l would submit that l strongly and fervently disagree with him , but patiently advance and categorically submit that Ghana , our beloved country , has been so United in this fourth republic than any ever , and other republic the country Ghana has ever had and endured . You think not ?! . Let me read you the riot / civil act then ! . Until 1947 , when the political agitation for independence began and the U G C C was , one must bear in mind that such socio / political discourse and dispensation have never been embarked , to say the least , on such magnitude and also at that time and period one should factor in , with a population of about six ( 6 ,000 , 000 ) million , how many of them were literally educated , and even so , as it were , their level of educational standards . What l am trying to suggest is the vast majority who were so called educated were just standard seven leavers , as we used to call it then , and then in the sixties , it was changed to form four , being the level of which and where one's first formal education ended . Now , back on the issue of unity that Dr Nduom is advocating ,l do not know , if he is suggesting Union / National Government , the brain child of colonel / General Kutu Acheampong , which didn't fly . However , the issue is , Dr Nduom,s kind of unity , so l would go to where l started . I have submitted that the kind of unity that we enjoy now is unparalleled , since our socio / political dispensation and economic emancipation / development began . I submit to this view for many reasons but the fundamental are these : ln 1951 , when the first civic / political election was held , then in 1954 , another , and 1956 , the plebiscite , 1957 , Independence attained , 1960 , The Republic , then the one party state . I want to be brief , that is why l just marked down the most significant years in our political dispensation , and in all those years until 1966 , when the first republic was given the heave ho the common theme in the country was political violence and George Owell,s 1984 , Big Brother watching you . The second republic like the third one wasn't given enough oxygen to survive as both lasted just twenty seven months . And , in between these republic's , we have had the military governments , starting with N L C , 1966 ; N R C , 1972 ; S M C , 1 & 2 , 1977 / 1978 ; A F R C , 1979 ; and hopefully the last , P N D C , 1982 . The common theme with these military regimes is horrific victimization being unleashed on the citizenry , and the divisional tendency or maxim of we or them . Fast forward , 1992 / 93 , we are ushered in the now evolving fourth republic , the electorate has voted in the N D C., The N P P., and the N D C, and to me no matter how good or bad a government performs it is best to leave it for the electorate to vote for the party they could improve their lot having compared their previous lot . Now the electorate are still in their experimental mode , having health with N D C , N D C., N P P , N P P, and now N D C , N D C , who knows , maybe come election 2016 , the electorate would vote P P P ? !..
