Overcrowding of our prisons goes on regardless of call for commonsense sentencing. In some democratic jurisdictions which balances justice with human rights and of course public protection, this chap will receive 2 years community sentence probation order with 200 hours community pay back. And restorative justice with the victim After all the items robbed are all recovered. The probation order will provide opportunity for a correction officer to take him through victim awareness programmes, offence focused therapy and assist him learn trade skills for employment as elements of rehabilitation and reintegration. Think about it. Who feeds him in prison for 5 years?
