The NDC and Rawlings must respect the verdict of our judges in the various courts of justice in Ghana. Woyome went to court and the court ruled that he must be paid. What is now the problem of Rawlings and the NDC???

We should note that if the same system of assessing and judging corrupt individuals under the J.J. era existed today, all these many corrupt Politicians would be facing firing squad with no exceptions.

We have all regretted the mercilessness in imposing the fatal penalties for those Generals accused of corruption. But we have as well taken undue advantage of the masses' abhorrence for that system of extremely harsh justice to perpetrate or allow even worse Corruption today.

We live in an era of almost no effective legal deterrence among our elites and Officials. There is "no cat in the house, so the mice have a field day to be rambunctious, destructive and blatantly obnoxious", as an old adage goes.

We seem to have withdrawn way far to the other extreme as to take the bite out of our Justice System. So, those who have the connections, the money and the clout simply thumb their noses to our call for real Justice, our cries for an end to corruption, and for honesty and ethics in their service to the Nation.

The re-emergence of corruption with such vengeance as we see today seems to be rightly infuriating J. J. because it renders all the killings of the Generals, and any other harsh measures his AFRC team employed to curb Kalabule in those days, completely useless.

I have always called for us to use those sordid, bitter, and dangerous experiences of those AFRC days as a burning torch to remind us of what could happen to us, if we fell into any similar abyss of abjectly insensitive corruption. I have always wanted us to regard our loved ones victimized in the mess of our extremely brutal form of Justice in those days as sacred sacrificial souls to redeem our Nation, even if some of us still think any of those victims deserved their harsh treatment.

This is because those happenings in our History served as a turning point that I would rather not wish to see the Nation return to ever again.

J. J. and his team might as well be seen as part of the whole redemption opportunity we must fully take best and progressive advantage of, even if some of us think they meted out injustice to the victims of their era.

Until all of us in Ghana associate the sufferings of the victims of our Political past with our Nation's renewed chance to do better, we would continue to plunge Ghana in bigger and bigger mess with impunity.

So, let J. J. be angry at his own NDC Officials. He deserves to be. The continued dabbling in Corruption of these folks renders the all-important, even if not welcomed, intervention of his team to change the course of our Politics a sheer waste.

Berko, the problem is more than that. It is that, Ghanaians lack the analytical ability to understand what exactly went wrong and the fact that we find ourselves deep in corruption with much more fervor and relish than it was during Acheampong's time.

Originally, Ghanaians are very undisciplined, uncultured, stubborn, selfish and lazy people who would dupe others at every turn of the way if no one was watching, and the only thing they fear is the military. They would behave ONLY if soldiers are unleashed on them day and night. It means democracy isn't good for us until such a time that we begin to be conscious of what we want in the long term. The military understands this and could have used it successfully to advance our cause until we begin to understand the objectives of the country for the long term.

Now, when Rawlings came on scene, he came with the understanding that sacrificing those military leaders would put fear in others who would think of getting in their shoes: forestalling bad behavior. What we should have done is help them in their fight against corruption, UNTIL we know what it meant for the posterity. But not only did we fail to help, we called for democracy when we knew that in democracy there's no compulsion in anything. Anyone could invoke freedoms etc. to do what they like.
The first challenge to Rawlings came from his own friends who, knowing he was no longer the feared "dictator" that he was, began to disrespect him. It was there and then that corruption set in. In event, it didn't take long before the spiral set in again with force.

In revolution, people die and though it is bad, no one could help it, but executing so many people for a cause and later turning around to subvert such a cause in an unabashed huge fashion makes mockery of our intelligence.

We say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, this is true of the objectives of those military leaders. We don't love Ghana more than they do. Looking back, I know most of them regret what happened, but this is because we are so stupid to allow those situations to relapse.

In fact I was so relieved on Ghana's present tribal politics predicament that I heaved a sigh of joy. JJ is the only person who can unite Ghanaians-Akans and Ewes.
