Afriyie Ankrah looted and upon uttering the famous words "open sesame" in the story of Ali Baba and the 40 thieves, he was gleefully welcomed into the grotto of Ghana's economic collapse, described by Prof. Amoako as the den of criminals.
Adu Asare is also in there so it's no surprise he's defending Mahama Ayariga.
Besides the record is clear. The Mahama-led NDC gov't is thieving the resources of the state and the evidence is there to support this position.
The Supreme Court has given it's verdict of a number of such cases, and incidentally, a former Attorney General Martin Alamisi Benz Kaiser Amidu-Citizen Vigilante was forcefully shoved out, when he suffered a bout of consciousness and resolved to stem the tide of wanton thievery by the Mahama-led NDC gov't. It never happened and today, Ghana is in a financial and economic catastrophe and chaos. So what is Adu Asare going on about?

Ghana can only sell power from water sources, gas or light crude but diesel is too high and fars exceeds the cost of current electric bill per kilowatts. Ghanaians have to pay 4 times the cost of electricity they pay now to use from such machines. Korle bu etc were given some for free as backup power but they refused because of the cost per kilowatt from thse toy machines.

Its total waste of money by NPP crooks to steal you money but too bad Ghanaians are dumbed down by politics and cannot think through issues/

NPP surrogate paper and its lies. They can never tell the truth no wonder Ayariga told them his peace of mind.
1. Osagefo barge was not procurred by the Kufor gov´t. It was the GNPC under Tatsu that bought it. It was completed when the NPP came to power but for whatever reasons The NPP gov´t refused to take charge but instead persued Tsikata in court over fraud. This led to the accrument 50 million dolar charge from the Italian company which built it. When attempts to sell it on the open failed (as they did with drill ship) and no other choice they decieded to bring it ghana. Instead of the Ghana gov´t putting it into action sought to give it to private firm to run (as was done to the Aveyima Rice Project). A complicated agreement was signed with a Texas based energy firm to restore and run the Osagefo bagde. It was the Mill´s gov´t which fought hard to Ghana from that stupid agreement which cumulated in court settelment of the company being paid 12 million dollars bieng cost they incurred for the repairs by the International Court of Justice.
My beef with this gov´t is if we have this facillity avaliable (which the NDC proccured) why is itn not being to use at this critical time.
2. The VRA management at that time were not consulted over the procurement of these "toy machines" they arguing that these are for power product within small enclaves and not for the national grid, in effect VRA said these are not the sought of machines they require. These procurement of these machines left a big hole in the financices of the VRA from which they have not recovered till today. Why did the senior staff of VRA requested for the removal of C. Wreko-Brobbey as VRA CEO and on top he wasn´t paid any entitlement?
Our media should try not to twist facts suit their political thinking that was why Rawlings was agresively againts the Mills gov´t for not having gone after these people whom he persives as thieves.

Your input is helpful but this whole saga is just bad and I cannot blame the media for trying to bring it to our attention. For Gods sake, a 6th form poloitical student would have done much better.

In any case, this is not about apologetics but rather a skewed trail of a barge discussed and raised in the 90's with teh US government with contributed funding, delivered and sat there not doing much even when an attempt was made to kick it into life. KT Hammond openly dealt with the issues of the barge. If government couldn't handle one barge, what's the issue about even if it had been paid for? Its not as though Ghana has fully paid for a barge ever in its life. In 2007 it was under lease. Recently the government had to pay up 12 million as penalty.

I have seen these in operation and at best they are fit only for temporary use and whilst they may do for e.g. a small industrial unit, hotel or factory, are simply not fit for purpose for large scale power generation.

Wereko-Brobbey was right in his description of them as "toys". My impression was that during CAN 2008 in Ghana they may have served a brief purpose but for anyone to think that they were a good investment for large scale power generation, or that they could help solve our energy problems in the medium to long term is simply barmy.

The reason behind this crazy act is that the NDC want to wipe out any traces of NPP's efforts and initiatives which ex-Prez. Kuffour so painstakingly put in place in a long anticipation to prevent the on-going power crisis.

The NDC started telling lies to Ghanaians that Kuffour didn't do anything and that the current power crisis could be blamed for the situation when things started getting worse. So had they succeeded shipping out those power generating equipment which were purchased by Kuffour, they would have succeeded in telling more lies since there wouldn't be any proof or traces of any said Kuffour's initiative in this regard. What a shame!

Folks shouldn't forget what I've always pointed out that; NDC's now-Ambassador to the Netherlands, Tony Aidoo once said that: "the NDC won't continue with any projects initiated by the NPP, because for him "people say they [NDC] don't have any ideas towards nation's development" hence the ugly power and economic crisis that Ghanaians are facing.

Meanwhile the "Dum-sor dum-sor" crisis is crippling businesses both large and small, while things continue to fall apart for Ghanaians. It's time to remove the NDC from power before they cause any more damage.

Every project and social intervention programmes consummated by the Kufour administration has been bastardized by this useless Mahama led administration.
The NHIS has given way to cash and carry, the Metro buses are being cut into pieces daily and sold as scrap, The NYEP which was christened GEEDA is in a mess, and now the generators which were adding some megawatts to our energy requirements are being sold to Sierra Leone.
And all these things are happening while the sitting president looks on sheepishly to allow Ghanaians to suffer undue hardships.
Knowing the intention of the government to dispose off the generators, the NDC dispatched Kwaku Boahen, that useless deputy propaganda secretary, to move from one radio station to another with false information that the generators were toys. Toys indeed! If toys how come that it generated power to Ghanaians during JAK's time?
The fact of the matter is that the generators are powered by crude oil, and this useless NDC government hasn't got money to buy the crude oil to power the generators. If they are toys why send toys to sierra Leone? Is the government of Sierra Leone interested in toys?
This Sierra Leone deal of selling the generators would be monitored scrupulously, and all those involved would face the full rigours of the law in future. NDC will suffer more casualties like the late Victor Selormey.
One thing is certain, a lot of NDC appointees under Mahama administration will end up in jail, and would be forced to vomit all the stolen money in their possession. Mahama is virtually selling and looting all our assets with reckless abandon.
NDC is pontificating that they are bringing power Barges as if this is the first time Ghana is using power barges. JAK ordered power barges in 2007 as part of the measures to increase the megawatts.
What is the NDC government going to use to power the Barge, and where are they going to get money to buy crude oil or gas? Every project initiated by the NDC is calculated to have a windfall cut of 30% loot for sharing.
Ghana under Jerry Rawlings NDC government mismanaged the economy and ushered the country to HIPC status in 2000. Under John Mahama NDC, Ghana is once again a HIPC country due to lack of foresight and prudent economic
planning. Oh NDC, is it a curse or sheer stupidity of its leaders that this country is suffering like this?
Immediately on assumption of office in 2009, these bastards in the NDC sold all the Tractors imported under the NPP administration to improve agricultural production in the country to themselves. And now the generators are 'walking' to Sierra Leone because people in the NDC administration lack thinking capacity, and problem solving skills.

Yes as the presiding president of the country its his responsibility to try to resolve this Issues some how for an economic growth.
As Ghanaians we sometimes enjoy pointing Fingers but if you go back into history energy to neighbouring countries started with late Dr. Nkrumah. Most government didn't see the need to change that; and realize the country is growing but played politics with real issues than dealing with it. It takes all of us to make the country not just the president.
