An HR manager in Ghana is paid basic at GHC9,000 exclusive of allowances so what is that all inclusive allowance for a minister? A minister is above a CEO in relative terms. Let’s stop this nonsense and disgraceful publications as if this are illegal or not covered by rules. Translate this US$ and compare it to a minister's pay of Nigeria. Shame.

This Fortiz/Merchant bank deal deal from all indications is putrid, it stinks to the high heavens and nothing can justify such an atrocious deal, when Ghanaian taxpayers, from all indications are not getting any VALUE FOR MONEY in this stinking deal. Omane Boamah, MD should seek to explain why an equity firm which cannot even boast of the asset base to even acquire a non-financial banking license, should be made to take on this onerous task of not even a merger, but a full complete acquisition of Merchant bank, when Ghanaian taxpayers, have been offered far, far better VALUE FOR MONEY propositions from identifiable bodies with a portfolio of assets eclipsing over 100 billion dollars? It is indeed mindboggling the level of impunity and recklessness which has been unleashed on the affairs on governance by this NDC gov't. Ghana indeed deserves better than this recklessness which is permeating all facets of governance in this country. It's awfully pathetic.

...Outrageous Benefits to "Do-Nothing Ministers, MPs and other Officials."

How the hell do you develop a “Third World aka Banana Republic”, while paying these OUTRAGEOUS salaries and benefits? They’re too greedy and DUMB to let go all the silly benefits that Mr. BOBO (White Man) instituted during the colonial era—but, should it continue to drain a poor nation like Ghana?

See, Mr. BOBO used the extra benefits; such as Free (bungalows, cars, garden boys, drivers, cooks, utilities, etc., etc.) as a "RECRUITING TOOL” to get White folks to come down to work on the Dark Continent at that time. But, the last time I checked, Mr. BOBO had been gone for the past 58 years—SO, WHY ARE WE STILL PROVIDING THESE EXTRA BENEFITS TO GROWN-ASS GHANAIANS, who’re not foreigners or immigrants??

The White man didn't know much about our roads, or our foods and couldn't use the cutlass to cut down even pawpaw tree, so they needed drivers, cooks & garden boys to help them out.
So, if NOT sheer greed, then why keep this silly and outdated tradition after the White man is long gone?

One other colonial legacy that our politicians and leaders have been sufficiently STUPID in correcting is the "Retirement Age." Mr. BOBO set it at 60 years then, because "life expectancy” was relatively low at that time and also they wanted to retire the White man to go back to England, Scotland, Ireland or Wales to enjoy the few years left for them by Providence—but the dumb-ass Negro can't think about CHANGING it, thus retiring teachers and others at 60 in the 21st century when we’ve high life expectancy. When will the damn Negro learn? They should increase the retirement age to 70, because people are LIVING LONGER THESE DAYS THAN MR. BOBO'S TIME.

So, the gist of my tirade and anger are about the shortsightedness of our leaders and politicians in tackling national issues, but rather STEALING our meager resources for themselves instead of using those resources to develop the country for all. Many of the benefits MUST be SCRAPPED outright and done with. Ghana, as a POOR nation, can't afford all that foolishness and wastefulness. If a politician doesn’t like it, then heck, QUIT and go somewhere else, Negro!!Bye, Bye!! Auviedersehen!!

Thus, propagating bureaucracy and corruption to favor the colonialists. This is why Boko Haram for example are livid with the corrupt, number changing, ballot stuffing, nature of these western educated govt bureaucrats in naija. Will Boko haram end up in Ghana? Why not?
1. Corruption Sensitivity Training: Educate the executives(attorney general, the judges, public officials, immigration, police officers)about the short, long term effects and impacts of corruption. Corruption Sensitivity Training should be a mandatory part of interview process, class, testing requirement for all ministers and public sector officials. Make them aware of the consequences and have them sign off on this. If judges, police officers, employees are educated and made to understand the explicit and implicit impacts of corruption and how it affects their own salaries, bonuses etc. Things will change!
2. Enforce the Law: Offenders must face jail time, tickets/fines, sell assets to payback what has been stolen, name and shame offenders in media
3. Put ethical persons in positions of power,
4. yearly revenue audits brief
5.NPP: Narcotic & Pharmaceutical Party, NDC: National Dealers of Corruption(Price Inflators of the national budget, safety pin, toothpick, kenkey, oil, mbaa dross)

PUBLIC servants have no business paying themselves like a CEO or HR officer in a PRIVATE sector. public service is where you give back to the country not where you TAKE from it. You're being unrealistic. First of all the concern being raised is about the disproportionately huge salaries and benefits of public servants who are paid from the public purse and do little or nothing. We will not be in this mess if these men and women are bringing sufficient expertise, professionalism and experience to their jobs. As bad as things are right now, I want to tell you without any prejudiced feelings that your so-called professionals are rather a dim-witted bunch who don't deserve even half of what they're being generously renumerated. Aside from the fat salaries and juicy benefits they are also fleecing the nation of every dime, becoming overnight multi millionaires while sending the nation deeper into poverty and closer to the failed nation status. If I was President I'll be ready to pay the most competent guy any amount of money he asks for to transform for example the face of agriculture within a given timeline. We can't afford to pay huge salaries and benefits to incompetent professionals whose best effort is wrecking the national economy. Hope you're not Alhaji Bature.

The recklessness and incompetence of these visionless, greedy and shameless politicians are the reasons why we're wallowing in this this economic quagmire. They cannot lead from behind and pretend everything is alright. Since they're public servants their take home salaries must reflect the general living conditions prevalent in the country. They have to lead by example, slashing their salaries and benefits by at least 50 per cent. Right now they're living while we keep dying for lack of what it takes for us to live as human beings.

Are you really serious with your claim that democracy is full of greed and selfishness? If this is how you see democracy then I'm afraid you've got it all wrong . Those who are greedy and selfish must be ready to face the fury of the people when the law catches up with them.
Yes, there's corruption in every democracy but the difference is that while in some developed countries you're more likely to go than not go to jail when the law catches up with you finally, in Ghana, people take greed and corruption as a necessary component of democracy and see nothing wrong with it. Today, when people complain against it in Mahama's NDC some people will counter with the argument that the Kuffuor NPP administration did it too . There's no leeway for corruption in a true democracy. Your concept of democracy is wrong and you're not alone in this. This is why we keep side-tracking, losing our grip on the merits of democracy and often losing our way.

Who ordered payment of such huge wages to ministers of state in our country.Do they deserve such wages at all,those who sat down and approved of such payments should have considered the economic implications of our country since the ordinary man on the street has been imformed by the same Government that the country is broke and finds it extrimely difficult to meet important payments of contractors who are undertaking building of infrastructure and other exigencies in the country. Both ministers and MPs should reconsider drastic reduction of at least 35 percent and 25percents respectfully of their total emolumemts to meet the current economic presure on our Nation.The country cannot afford to compare the wages of its MPs and Ministers still struggling to keep its nose above sea water to a more advance country which has passed this stage.

I hope Ghanaians remember when a few of us were asking government to define the proportion of the wage bill by the presidency, legislature, judiciary and the public sector along side the population in each group for all of us to see who was really contributing to the so called huge wage bill. I have always advocated that the presidents salary should be tied to the civil servants salary, no allowances allowed in any format and if you are unable to cope you get out into the private sector and create your own wage and employ others who want to join you. Do not tell me all the good brains will go into the private sector because that is just a hype. The jobs will have to be created for them to move to the private sector and if those jobs are created that will also be good for Ghana. When we elect people who we think are responsible to make laws to make our everyday lives better, they only go there and give themselves huge monies such that we cannot even find money to buy crude oil and gas resulting in us sleeping in darkness and collapsing our businesses. Oh mother Ghana, when ooo when? Vote all of them out!!

Wow! If this publication is very true, then it is senseless going in for bailout from the IMF. If the government can afford to pay so much in emoluments and undeserved allowances to under-performing ministers and MPs,then we have a long way to go. This useless government is creating hardship for the next generation. Where in the world can you as a government in power be in a position to pay such gigantic remunerations to ministers and cannot be in position to pay for contractors, teachers, doctors among others? Almost everything in the country has fallen apart. No jobs creating tensions in society leading to rampant armed robbery. Ghanaians have been in darkness close to two years with no solution to this problem. Day in and out we find demonstrations here in and there, yet Ghanaian workers are never happy. Nursing mothers and their newborn babies are sleeping on bare floors in the hospitals. No ambulances to to transport emergencies.To mention but a few. Sometimes I ask myself if these greedy so-called politicians in our country are really humans. Only few people chopping big at the expense of majority of the populace. Ghanaians should wise up, stand up and say "enough is enough" with this mushroom government.
