Akyems are more than half of the population of the Eastern Region. It is the wealth from Akyem that has been used to develop Ghana. 100 years of diamond mining at Akwatia, several years of cocoa and palm oil production, over 100 years of alluvial gold mining.

However the way resources are distributed in this country is why some people can pass such comments about Akyems.

If Ghana decides to go to war against the Fulani herdsmen, it has to be done by Ghana's military, after war has been declared by the government of Ghana.

This isssue is not just coming up, it has been in existence for long time spanding from Agogo in Ashanti-Akim area to Kwahu. The people who are behind the Fulanis in doing such acts are to bow their heads in shame for depriving law abiding citizens with their livelihood. This is the time the Ministry of Agriculture should come in if it got the interest of our farmers at heart and summon the law enforcement officers to go and get rid of these Fulanis out of the area.

In developed nations ranchers can't even go to government lands where there is no crops to let their cattle glaze it freely. They have to pay fees for using such lands. Kwahus should mount the courage to fight these Fulanis blood with blood. I am a Kwahu citizen and will defend my piece of land if these fools trespass on it. I know some individuals in the past and present administrations have interest in these business hence their silence in dealing with the menace from the Fulanis. GO OKWAHU - WE SUPPORT YOUR ACTIONS AND COURAGE. e&oe.

Minuah, it has a lot to do with politics; just remember that our 1992 Consttution disbars Chiefs in our country from participating in politics. What is more political than declaring war?

Now it is Fulanis simply invading lands of native Ghanaians and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. Where in our laws does it say foreigners can walk into the country and stay wherever they want. These are SQUATTERS, short and simple, and our leaders are proud of this! Someone needs to explain to our leaders what national sovereignty is all about and how to protect it as a government. if for whatever reason we are unable to drive them away then lets find out how the Americans & Argentine ranching system works and try to replicate similar ones here by confining them in an enclosures or kraals as l hear fodder banks have been established in the afram plains to cater for them but their wide geographic spread accross the country cannot make this effective. we cannot tolerate a situation where their cattle are allowed to feed on and destroys the investments and incomes of helpless farmers, dehumanised, maimed and kill our people whiles they go and enjoy theirs wealth unimpeded...

They all sit unconcerned, spoon-fed by the State while poor farmer in Kwahu North live in fear and panic.

I fully support the Chiefs, and would fight till the last tooth.

Unfortunately I live miles away from the Motherland, but I'm prepared to donate money for their course. Either the Fulani people live in peace with the Kwahus or they (the Fulanis) should leave either freely or forcefully.

Start suing the owners of cattle that destroy property, and that too will bring added pressure to bear on them. The government, through the years, has demonstrated a lack of interest in hearing the pleas of farmers and property owners in these affected areas. Time to act without the government.
