You do not appreciate what you have till you lose it. Even this Chinese lady has seen how rich our culture is but some born and bred Ghanaians see it as useless since it is not backed by anything from the West.

This suggestion is similar to when White South Africans forced the Black South Africans to learn Afrikaans and not English during apartheid era. It is a crazy idea and will set us back 2000 years. Twi is that primitive .

Madam ambassador, wbat can of culture are talking About. Culture is way of life and must be dynamic to bring development. We. Could not use our culture to develop our country. We couldn't use our culture to tap our resources. One unique thing of our culture is, we don't respect children, we are greedy, corrupt, we waist too much time on unproductive issue, mention any. So be specific which of them must we continue to embrace. Our culture didn't bring so many of the things we use in our country, someone culture have brought to us over 90% of what we use. Please be specific

Somehow and some where in Ghana there are people glad the Chinese ambassador to Ghana is offering help in the form of more Chinese imported goods and not manufacturing base equipment.
We cannot consume finished imported consumer goods out of our economic stagnation or the deficit spending that has been ongoing for the last 35+years. There are two things Ghana need now to start an industrial revolution and more imports is not one of them; we need an uninterrupted supply of electricity and manufacturing base equipment. It is only when we can process some of the raw materials here at home as finished goods that we can export the excess for higher foreign exchange above and beyond what we consume at home. It's been over 40+years and Ghana continues to have aluminum processed outside Ghana to be imported while we provide the bauxite and other raw materials on the cheap to the world market. Wake up Ghana we cannot continue to be an all consuming nation of everything to sustain us without the desire and ability to produce majority of those things here at home. Let's put an end to the dependence on imports especially those cheap imports from China which are of poor quality and shorter life cycle because we will get to a point in Ghana where we will run out of appropriate dump sites for all the discarded Chinese products. If we must buy we should buy quality and durable products with longer life span to help save money and the environment.

My friend, first of all you should rid yourself and your mind of imperialist distortions.
Before I proceed, let me ask you, who is it who buys what you refer to as poor quality cheap imports from China into Ghana? Is it not Ghanaian traders and businessmen who on their own volition, go to China and buy these goods to sell in Ghana? And dont you think that if Ghanaians in Ghana did not like these goods, they would not be buying them? If you want somebody to blame, do you also not think that it is rather the Ghanaian traders and businessmen who you should rather accuse for dumping cheap goods into Ghana?
I think that you should also find out from them why they choose to buy and import, cheap goods instead of more durable and expensive goods. You know something, common-sense does not come cheap. The market operates on a demand and supply basis. Nobody in his right mind would attempt to sell anything that he or she cannot sell in the market-place.
When Kwame Nkrumah of blessed memory made the first strides in introducing the habit of producing our own goods in the late 50s and early 60s, clowns like you were instructed by the historical enemies of the Blackman to undermine the effort and to get rid of him.
China continued along that same path that Kwame Nkrumah pursued and today they are the absolute masters of world trade. Even the once mighty USA is today pleading and begging China to limit the importation and flooding of Chinese goods into the US market. The biggest US firms have relocated to China to produce there because of the more sensible and therefore, profitable economic climate there.
Unfortunately, Ghana has missed the boat, thanks to to the shenanigans of the UP/NPP who collaborated with the enemies of Africa, to undermine the efforts of Kwame Nkrumah.
Half a century after our independence, one cannot count more than 5 Ghanaians who can be said to be successful businessmen and who are engage in proper and visible business ventures that we can all vouch for. Of course in saying so, I am not including the crooks and criminals who have amassed substantial wealth only by pretending to be politicians and colluding with themselves to rob the state.
Referring to the possibility of an industrial revolution in Ghana when stealing from the state is the best way that money can be made here, can only be seen as a sour and tasteless joke.
