  I take my hat off for DOC, he majestically editorializing the health problems of this young region at great length. This is the youngest region in Ghana with enormous potential for growth. But there is turbulent need for change in many ways. Unity is the master for change in this our technological fast pace world. The conveyer belt had to bring a sense of propriety to the people in the region for a successful change. Education should lead the way to bring any successful progress. Men (my brothers) have to accept the winsome changing in the region and Ghana at large. No change can take place unless the people relinquish some old cultural values. Whenever, I get the chance to talk to some class-mates for repudiation of the old ways, they fawn at me like a man with misadventure. Nothing is permanent but numbers and letters. Meaning 1234 and abc will always remain the same till the end of time.
  My favorite teacher Mr.(Issah Boyelah)both at the middle school and training college said this "as a man if you don't change then the change will change you and you will become a useless person on earth".
  Mothers have to be educated on child rearing beginning from conception through birth. Secondly, they need to know how to prepare food with some nutritional values during pregnancy and for the child. I am sure all that I had mentioned is practiced in the region but at what success rate?.
  There had been a heavy climate change at this point in time and consequently, the farmers have to change the robustly antiquated way of farming and animals rearing.
  Its a very unfortunate situation when I think how the ecosystem is been destroyed daily for survival. Education by the agricultural officers and a united front of the landlords and chiefs can help to reduce the problem. The other group that can help the situation are the schools and churches in the region.
  This region contributions toward national development is enormous. The few added strength to the national development after independence in 1957, was in academics, politics and sports as well as the labor force market. I can proudly say, the few doctors that came from the region in the early days of independence were super stars in their fields. I am sure my brothers and sisters will hold me captive if I don't mention our early politicians like BK Adama, SK Dombo and my Honorable Big Jotoe Kaloe. These pioneers did their best from the opposition before crossing the carpet to join CPP.
  When it comes to sports, this region had produced many talented men and women to represent Ghana in international sporting competitions. Malik Jabri leads the way in field of soccer.His playing days are over but his contributions still continuous. He is one of the national coaches for the youth.And others like brother Karbo and Dr. Puffah both were kings of the javelin also brought some glory to Ghana. Saana Sanche was a jack of all sporting competition and activities. There was nothing he touched and did not win. He was a super man. We fought for his name on the play ground on the high jump. He was the man of the Ceascer cut and every boy or girl wanted to jump like him. He was my idol. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
  The others included Edris Abdullah Kumbruwah who was a master in the 220 and 400 meters through out his four years in Kanton teacher training college. He never lost any of these races as a Ghana academicals and in the national team. The other individuals who also brought glory to the region in sports are these Wa teacher training college talented four. Gormah and Hilari represented Ghana in many sports(Olympics and Commonwealth games competitions. They were excellent players in the national volley ball team.
  The other two were Adolf Tengan and one Jacob Balanoe Yemme. Their talent won them scholarships to Texas A&M University to participate in NACAA track field. They both obtained their bachelor and master degrees in their fields of study.
  My candid opinion is that the malnutrition occurs amongst the children because the mothers don't know the right things to do for the children when it comes to feeding. Secondly, most men don't care about the children welfare. Some men think the farm work is more important than the child wellbeing. I want to see laws protecting our children and women from these savages call rapes and wife beaters.
