Teak trees were used for telecommunications also for landline telephones along our roads and railways long before Busia came to power. When our railway System was built the British used to import the teak trees for communications along the the railways.
Nkrumah a friend of Indonesia’s Suharto who ushered Indonesia into the modern era through their cooperation started nursing of young plants in Ghana in the Volta and Central Regions. The planting of the teak trees in Ghana was done when Akosombo was being built. The teak plantation programme was part of the Akosombo electrification project. Busia cannot make claims for where he did not sow. Busia made a mess of the huge harvest Nkrumah left behind.
Kwame Nkrumah inaugurated the Akosombo dam on January 22nd 1966 and on 24th February 1966 a month later he was ousted by a disgruntled few from the Mate Mehu traitors with help of the CIA and MI6.
So how could Busia have planted the teak trees which takes a minimum of ten years to grow for electrification when he had no clue of the plans Nkrumah had in place?
How could Busia have done the rural electrification without energy from Akosombo dam? Busia in his own words;” The Akosombo dam is too a large project for a small country like Ghana.”
Today we all know Kwame Nkrumah has been vindicated for building the Akosombo dam. Otherwise it wouldn’t have been only dumsor but we will be sleeping in total darkness.
Some of these unshameful Mate Mehu folks would want to even attribute rural development to Busia. But it is all false. It was Nkrumah who strategically built factories and state farms across length and breadth of Ghana to give People work in their proximity not Busia. It was Nkrumah who built more roads and feeder roads to connect the farming areas to enable transportation of food and cash crops like cocoa, pine apple, tobacco etc for export. It was Nkrumah who built the double track Kotoku to Huni valley railway to shorten the trip to Takoradi and enable goods to transported rapidly. The 20 kilometers rubber plantation along Tarkwa road is one of those projects
Busia couldn't wait to come and enjoy the great infrastructures and fruits of Kwame Nkrumah. Busia arrived 3 weeks after Nkrumah's overthrow to become the adviser of the NLC ( Notorious Liars Council). Busia the then adviser of the NLC was so overwhelmed by the sheer size of projects being undertaken by Nkrumah’s government that with a stroke of pen he cancelled many major projects which have already been paid for. Even the Ghana International Trade Fair which was supposed to take place in March of 1966 was postponed for an entire year because these idiots didn’t know where to begin and what to do. That was how the lazy minded Busia the then adviser of NLC ditched Ghana. Ghana was on the verge of industrialization when these Mate Mehu knaves short circuited our economic and national development. The economic damages done and ramifications has been lasting until today. It was Busia who damaged our free educational system by asking for fees and cancelling training allowances for teacher trainees, nurses and so on.

There is a simple fact. Ghana without Nkrumah would have been just a dot on the world map. Nkrumah made the world listen to the voice of Africa. Ghana is the handwork or baby of Nkrumah thanks to his farsightedness and futuristic Vision but that was short circuited by the NLM/UP/PP/PFP and now NPP who feed on the travesty of truth. MINOR CASE,
Why don't you quote from Busia's own work to disprove what Nana Ansah, G.K. Berko, and others are saying? What are you waiting for? You have said nothing substantial so far!
Besides, both men have said all that I needed to say already (my comments to Nana Anasah was made exactly at the time I read this funny and ahistorical piece).
The information G.K. Berko and Nana Ansah have provided here are already part of Ghana's recorded history and oral literature. It is all there!
Agyapong should have done his research before coming out with anything, this falsehood! What useful thing did that lazy-minded and terroristic Busia do for Ghana aside from killing children and innocent adults? Nothing.
Major General A.K. Ocran's book "Politics of the Sword," one of Busia's own colleagues and friends, will tell you how he classified Busia as one Ghana's worst Ghanaian leaders! I.K. Akyeampong overthrew him for the same reason! You know what? Busia is not worth talking about!
This is how intellectually lazy you UP/NPP folks are, always fighting for equalization when the generosity of history is not even on your side.
Give us any useful references (reliable or verifiable anecdotes from Busia or from any respecatble historian) to back up your shameful distortions.
For your information, you are going to have more quotations (from my Ghanaweb articles) till thy kingdom comes. Get used to it. Albert Einstein, Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Francis Allotey and the greatest thinkers in human history either quoted directly (or plagiarized from others' works?).
Do you know where Achebe got the title "Things Fall Apart" from?
Do you have any idea where Tsitsi Dangaremgba got the title "Nervous Condition" for her book of the same name?
Do you read nonfiction at all? Do you check out the bibliography/references/citations section after reading nonfictions? Quoting others' works in one's writings is the norm in today's world.
Lest I forget, quoting is common in standard journalism too. If you have any issues with quotations, don't worry. Just debate them with your ideas (anecdotes, references, etc). In other words, debate those I quote with your facts if you have any!
My next article (with more quotes and references and inclusion of others' works) is comming. Warm up!
Get your facts ready for debate!

I was a great fan of the late Prof Busia and played a major role in his campaign for power. I must say that I was NOT raised in the rural areas of Ghana and therefore NOT very well versed on the Teak Plantation, being the subject matter of this debate.
However, from reading of this debate, I personally do find it a bit controversial.
Having said that, if it is true that it takes about THIRTEEN YEARS for the Plantation to grow, then it may have started from the Colonial Masters but NOT Nkrumah.
Furthermore, I also agree that the late Prof, as an Enviromentalist did start the project from the Brong Ahafo Region.
I am NOT at all surprised that Nana Ansah would go any extra mile or lengths to defend the late Dictator, Kwame Nkrumah, because his overthrow meant a further building of grandeur by this Nana Ansah at the Tax Payer's expense that came to a HALT.
There were so many Estate Buildings that Nana Ansah illegally acquired during the Dictator's tenure and when he appeared to being closed in he was whisked to the UK.
So Nana Ansah, being one of Nkrumah's manufactured propagandists would argue to shut down anyone who disagrees with his former BOSS.
Now, when we have to evaluate the merits of all the past coups in Ghana, most Ghanaians who lived during the Dictators Regime would agree of his riddance.
Unfortunately, the knaves from his regime, such as Nana Ansah deposited their trust in Murderer Rawlings' regime, being another THIEF.
SO YOU MUST ALSO SHUT UP, NANA ANSAH!!!

It take a pragmatic leader like JJ (the show boy) to extend Electricity to all the Regions in this Country even then, the NPP always and up to date continue to accuse him and the NDC for being responsible for the power outages in the country simply because they extended Electricity to too many rural areas where Electricity is needed for only household use as if they are not part of Ghana.

Rawlings is very right if he credits Dr Nkrumah with starting those teak plantations. I suspect Agyapong is much too young to know.
These plantations were without doubt started at different periods all over the country long before Dr Busia came to power.
Agyapong is simply blinded by party loyalty and possibly too young to know.
The very shocking thing about him is his failure to verify this simple to find info from the forestry dept before coming out so strongly in his refuting what JJ put out.
That is a very bad case of misinformation with the view to DECEIVE the public and embarrass JJ.

If the government doesn't want anybody to talk about the exorbitant cost of the interchange, it should have come clean from the beginning; from the bidding process to the award of the contract.
If you have an open bidding process in which three or more companies bid for a project, and the submitted tender documents opened in front of all representatives of the contractors that took part in the process, and you award the contract to one of the companies based on best technical specifications and reasonable lower cost, the amount you award the contract will be known to even the other contractors and it will not be difficult for the government to release it.
How can we award contract to a company and the work is ongoing without knowing exactly how much we've awarded it, and we're still talking about projected figures and so on? I believe Nana is hitting the nail on the head. There is too much obscurity and lack of transparency in awarding the project, and we're afraid that Ghanaians may not be getting value for their money.

If we were all to acquiesce to the notion that Nkrumah was the first to initiate the said Teak Plantation, then of course the Dictator was also responsible for the COCOA PLANTATION.
The Colonial Masters and our fore-farmers did initiate very many Projects far before UGCC got into the scene for the struggle for our Independence.
Needless to say, Dictator Nkrumah ignored very many advices from his own advisors when it was realised that our Cocoa Trees were getting old; the farmers were getting old; therefore the young people had to be encouraged into the farm for the good of the country.
Nkrumah ignored all those advices but instead was trooping to Egypt about once a month to shake those BIG HEAVY, EGYPT MAAMAS. All because the Ghanaian women were NOT to his taste.
Furthermore, he was raining massive insults on the West, which culminated the massive fall of our Cocoa Prices to the detriment of the Farmers and the country at large.
Is nana Ansah trying to insinuate that
Ghana would had been in darkness without the Akosombo Dam?? How silly!!!
We are all sick and tired of the "Nkrumah made this and that BULLSHIT". At the end of the day the country was declared BANKRUPT IMMEDIATELY AFTER HIS OVERTHROWN.
I hope Nana Ansah returned all those properties he illegally acquired under the Dictator's regime.
His Africanisation Policy was absolutely BULLOCKS!! This is because, prior to that we were all as boarding students were getting value for our Feeding and Learning Fees.
As soon as the silly Africanization Policy was introduced, the Food had to be directed to the Head Masters', Bursars, etc. bungalows before the remaining would reach various schools.
Now, has Murderer Rawlings ever told a single truth in his life?? This yoko-gari son of a prostitute followed his hunger to stage a senseless coup to enrich himself, as well as introducing TRIBALISM of the HIGHEST DEGREE to promote his TROKOSI IDIOTS.
SO WHAT DOES THE MURDERER AND NANA ANSAH WOULD EMBRACE GHANA FOR??? THEY BOTH MILKED THE SACRED COW!!!

Prior to becoming the Prime Minister, he was the head of Center for Civic Education.
As a policy issue, Akorab and his fellow students were probably continuing a project initiated during Nkrumah's time. While many projects under the so-called 7-year Development plan were shelved, there were some that were continued.
There is nothing in the books that suggest that Busia did not contribute to the effort when he became the Prime Minister in 1969.

I wonder who was behind the beautiful teak plantation around my sixth from school Obuasi Sec Tech in the early 1980s. They must have been between 15 - 20 years old at the time, which puts them somewhere in the early 1960s at least!. Interesting.

If Agyepong is disputing the claim of Rawlings that the teak plantings were initiated in the Nkrumah administration, then it's Agyepong's obligation to tell Ghanaians what year Busia initiated the plantings, along with available documents that might support his position. It's a damn disgrace that the UP/PP/NPP has vowed to never recognize any accomplishments made by Nkrumah and his party. This stems from UP/PP/NPP utter jealousy of the CP and Nkrumah, knowing that their party has no contributions that come anywhere close to those made by the CPP and Nkrumah. Interesting to hear Agyepong refer to Judas Busia as an "environmentalist". I had no idea the word "environmentalist" was a synonym for the word "saboteur". Jealousy is slowly blinding and choking the NPP.

Ghanaian politicians are crap and nonesensical. In the 21st century politicians are fighting over teak trees. This country is sick in the head. We are ruled by idiots and fools. These hungry thieves are so shortsighted and so silly they can't see beyond the til of their noses. We have no electricity, most of our people drink from the same pits with swine, sleep in the kraals with cattle, still ease ourselves at the beach, our streets are littered with filth, we still construct opened drains which are choked beyond comprehension, we still can't solve simple issues like eliminating cholera. We still have malaria as environmental and personal cleanliness continue to be far from out thinking. We can't do anything right as a country. Instead of concerning ourselves with these issues, we have leaders who's brain don't work arguing over foolish issues like who initiated teak production. Where in this world are people still using teak to supply electricity? We have failed because fools have and continue to dominate our politics. Would our silly politicians take a stroll around Tudu, Adabraka, Alajo, Kaneshie, Ashaiman, Sukura, Dansoman and indeed the slums in the night just to see how people sleep? When they have done this and can still eat their luncheon meat and drink their bottles of whiskey, they should continue to speak thrash.
