Some parties in power tend to reward people and communities that they like and neglect other communities. This may be based on ethnic groups or votes garnered. Some people are not happy with the state of affairs.

Hopefully the elderly people don't have to bribe their way before they get those cards and the bus operators don't deny them boarding because they did not give them bribe.

if you are to spend this amount on the elderly voluntarily, it is not considered as a loss.As no one has forced you to do that, it is a social responsibility thing you just want to do and what we are all hoping is that you don't collapse the company.it has to be Ran as a business venture, with profit making motive so that it will no more be the tax payers money to be used always to buy new buses.i also for see abuse of this arrangement by the workers. ghana airways, stc and OSA fever is gradually catching up with MMT

How can the government force another supposedly 'independent' government-owned company to execute an initiative without any compensation? The idea is good. I like it. But the money to pay the workers, pay for the bus repairs, pay for the fuel (which is overpriced !!) has to come from somewhere ! The government should fund or at least partially provide some type of relief to MMT...let it be reduced taxes (that's if they pay any) or something.
It's a key contributing factor to the energy sector not thriving. Many companies would want to set-up energy generation plants in Ghana but are concerned about getting paid. Government institutions, police/army/prison barracks, schools, universities, etc have been getting their electricity for free. No money goes to ECG...no money goes to the power generators....It's that simple
