As I see it, the new Power Minister is just passing the buck, instead of laying out his plan for solving this embarrassing dumsor dumsor.
He was mandated by the President to end our energy crisis asap, rather he goes to the power producers to meet a specific deadline.
I would have liked to see Dr. Kwabena Donkor's plan of using the various energy mix - from renewable sources to clean coal - to solve the energy crisis the nation is currently

Ivor Greenstreet said directly to President John Mahama and Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur that: “You don’t care”.
“Nobody is feeling your better Ghana”, Greenstreet shouted when he delivered his party’s solidarity message to the NDC at the congress at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Ashanti regional Captial, Kumasi – stronghold of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In the full glare of the President, Vice President, former President Jerry Rawlings, and thousands of leaders and supporters of the NDC, a defiant Greenstreet said: “…Currently nobody, I mean nobody is feeling your better Ghana.”
“Continuous ‘dumsor dumsor,’ corruption from top to bottom, left right inside out, and all the challenges you are facing [are] suffocating the Ghanaian people.”
He added: “We would have thought that perhaps you may have used an occasion like this to discuss policies, programmes and solutions to all the difficulties we are facing as a nation, but no, you chose today to share your Christmas gifts with each other.”
“Ghanaians are not happy at all. This ‘bronya’ is dry. Too too dry,” he told the President, adding: “The most painful thing of all is that you don’t care.”
“NDC continue, we are watching you, Ghana is watching you, do what you want to do, we also know what we’ll come and do…make sure you’ll elect executives who will be able to steer your parties affairs when you are in opposition. Boys abr3.”
The wheelchair-bound Politicians has been called names and criticised by leaders and supporters of the NDC after his bluntness. While Majority Leader Alban Bagbin has said he believed Greenstreet was possessed by some demons, which caused him to be “so emotional”, presidential staffer Sam George wrote on his Facebook wall that: “Ivor Greenstreet apparently needs elevation to see the Better Ghana.”
However, Nkrumah said Greenstreet’s message was crafted by the CPP to capture the mood and mind of the entire country.

Dumsor is an issue of lack of capacity. If I were him, I will hit the road to look for investors to come to build more power plants.
He should not forget however that no investor will come to put millions of dollars into a power plant with the kind of tariff we have in place.
He needs to work on Ghanaians and synthesize them on paying the right tariff.
Mr President you should have picked somebody who is already in the power system and understands the problems and who has the capacity and access to power investors.

The boy says, "I can't. I sold them."
The father asks, "How much did you sell them for?"
The son says "1,000 c

The father says, "It's terrible to overcharge your friends like that. That's way more than those two things cost. I'm going to take you to church and make you confess."
They go to the church and the father makes the little boy sit in the confession booth and he closes the door.

Now you can see what a useless person Mahama has hired to solve this little problem. They just go and get their useless Degrees and do not come with any vision than this nonsense.
Six months from now is not far and this visionless individual will come again with another excuse like his employer (Mahama) who is worse than shit. Many solutions are there to bring this 'dumsor' under complete control if the government will seal the hole of looting which is right at its doorstep and use our money wisely. Along our coastal belt dwellers will be good for wind power whilst most part of the country especially the northern sector will be good for solar power which will take non-commercial consumers from the national grid and save it for city dwellers and commercial users.

Doc a lot of rot goes on because the blackman is not challeged beyond the ordinarily it is a time to As you have indicated benchmark and set target for these personnell.Sometimes living far off I feel hugely ashamed when these Goverment communicators run down practically every poor Ghanaian who dare bring to the fore what masses are going through sometimes they are lenient enough to go the blame game tangent or outright untenable excuses. So my question when I read some of their embarassing statement is are there extra ordinary people on this planet earth?my answer is no because those we see especially the whites who we adore and come begging for funds on daily basis are ordinarily people like us who are succeeding and doing the extraordinarily things because they see things differently .but our leaders and their cohorts believe they must live on the largesse of the poor and the vulnerable in the society rather than providing leadeship and pragmatic solution By bringing on bosrd competent persons who has the track record to deliver no....Toddlers who believe the only way to succeed is to praise sing insult and be sycophantic and fanatical to their bosses Nd they are all over radio stations in Ghana insulting the intelligence of Ghanaians.Where else but in Ghana that Goverment officials are paid to spend hours on end not providing any intelligent discourse but propaganda propaganda. the confidence level of this Goverment is all time low and even my grandma in the village seem not to trust officia ldom any longer.Yes Goverment is not a father christmas yet it bevoes on any serious minded goverment to provide the social and economic infrastructure and a robust leadership with vision to turn a hopeless situation to succesful end.
If the electorate were bold enough to withdraw all privelages as Doc youre saying it will challenge them to think and do serious thinking for I know Ghanaians dont lack the high level human capital to do the impossible.Which kid will take a Dad serioius if you eat fried rice and ask us to fast?

The Power Minister has started abdicating his responsibility already and engaging in fanciful rhetoric, and it is becoming embarrassing. It is an embarrassment.
The Power Minister has completely abdicated his responsibility and is effectively, calling on the power generators to fix the dumsor, dumsor crisis....lolol after John Mahama promised in 2012 that "chooboi, choooboi, during our second term in office dumsor, dumsor will be a thing of the past".
Inded, what we are witnessing in this dumsor, dumsor saga which the Mahama NDC gov't promised even on the floor of Parliament via one of it's surrogates ie Haruna Iddrisu that " adum dum a dum dum no b3 gya3" is the buck is being passed around from John Mahama to the Energy Ministry and now to the newly created Power Ministry, whose minister is now seen passing the buck subsequently back, to the power producers.
Chooboi, chooboi(apologies to John Mahama) is dumsor, dumsor a thing of the past as promised by John Mahama in the second term of the Mahama NDC gov't?
From what the new Power minister is saying, one can infer on a very logical deduction that, his position on the six-month ultimatum is for the VRA and TICO to go out there, raise the money and address the dumsor, dumsor crisis at all cost.
Fair enough.
The next question that comes to mind and needs to be answered is how the finances of these two power producers are structured and therein lies the fanciful rhetoric, the blowing of hot air and a complete waste of taxpayer resources in the creation of the new ministry.
It would be recalled that, on the issue of the availability of crude to power the twin-cycle plants, VRA and the other power producers have always complained of the lack of crude and the unavailability of funds to purchase the crude? So the question is where is the money to buy the crude? Who collects that money from the power that is generated and distributed by ECG? Why is there no money to buy the crude to power the generators for the production of power???
Clearly the Mahama NDC gov't lacks the capability and the capacity as well as the competence to address the dumsor, dumsor crisis in an intelligent and visionary manner, and the hot air being blown by the new Power Minister, the creation of which in itself smacks of lack of reasoning buttressed by ad hocism, propaganda and lack of focus, clearly defines the conundrum in which the country finds itself with respect to the dumsor, dumsor crisis and generally, the regressed state of the country, a chaotic, incompetent-riddled, corrupt-prone, propagandist approach to governance with no traction and meaningful results.

Coal, even the gas koraaa, you can't sort it out, na coal. Who is even looking at coal?
Didn't the Power Minister say he had solar panels in his house generating electricity? He's on the right path starting with his house and he should have a policy from his office to streamline the process in the whole country within targeted and specific measurable timelines.
another thing he could be looking at is, they should split the energy generation in the country into two. The north feeding off of Bui and solar generation and the south feeding off of Akosombo, and the gas and thermal installations with grid synchronization to feed off of each other in terms of generated capacity, during peak hours, whilst looking at further boosting reserve capacity for industry over the long term.

Shakespeare's quote states it best. "Words fly up and thoughts remain below". You tend to forget that when Rawlings appointed Tsatsu Tsikata to renegotiate the contract between the Ghana Government and Kaiser Aluminum company, he did not realize that engineers should have represented the Ghana Government with Tsatsu only serving as an advisor. In any manufacturing or engineering establishment, there are times when one needs spare parts, This spare parts can only be purchased from the original manufactures of the items used to construct the original facility. How much funds does the government budgeted to maintain the Dam and facilities needed to supply power? Well thought out plans are always better than directing someone to do something at the barrel of the gun.

If we need 5000 megawatts in 6 months that means 3000 megawatts is the target. Now who is going to fund the project? If we have the human capacity and resources then let's define a strategy.GNPC must give the public the data of our natural gas reserve.I know we have untapped volume of natural gas that can be used to generate thermal power.Ivory Coast is using natural gas as source of energy and we can do the same.I don't think we can stop dumsur in 6 months but perhaps reduce the impact. The VRA must give information concerning their project. If you ask me to consider the best method then I will say let's use what we have. It's clear that the use of natural gas will save Ghana lot of money. If we construct 4 more thermal plants like Aboadze's Thermal Power Station, dumsur will disappear.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

Its about time Ghanaians think very carefully; NDC gonvernment has been in power for over 24years they never think of making sure the energy needs of the country is met. Now that its almost a year for general election in 2016 they're talking tough talk about energy. Shame on all of you. God punish all of you for the great harm done to mother Ghana. NDC has forgotten that the development of any economic systems has a number of prerequisites without which growth or improved rate of growth can never be achieved. So now where is the energy minister. aka letter sorter. NDC thinks they can ask any stupid guy who have lived in America to be a minister. NDC Government is sick.
