The police were wrong in not arresting Chris Tucker but the judge cannot be blamed for that. Next time, ABODAM will not do his thing so close to the police. He should show some respect.

It is true that Kwaw Kese deliberately broke the laws of the land but refusing him bail whilst those involved in the Ayelegate (cocaine)case were granted bail today is unbelievable. Kwame Boafo Akufo is right that the judge is abusing his judicial powers and that is unconstitutional. No one should be deprived of his/her liberty for more than necessary whilst on trial. His case needs to be examined and the judge asked to explain why bail has been refused continuously. It's unfair, injustice and unconstitutional. His lawyers should complain.

The law in Ghana is so whimsical, prejudicial and malleable that it would not make any difference if it were not there at all. The application of bigoted western law has failed in Ghana. It seems as if it is very often used as punishment rather than as a mechanism to correct the wrongs of society.
Chris Brown the American showbiz artiste performs a show in Ghana in front of a huge audience including hundreds of minors, several policemen on duty and live television and he openly smokes dope (marijuana, abonsam tawa, wee) and taunts the authorities to arrest him. Of course nothing happens to him and he gets away with it and is paid GHC1 million for offending the sensibilities of the few decent-minded Ghanaians left in the country. Not even those who brought him to this country are held responsible for his very offensive and criminal behaviour.
Quite often, we hear of our cowardly policemen arresting small-time smokers in the poor neighborhoods for the same offense and locking them up until they pay a small unofficial fine into the back-pockets of the arresting officers. When the arrested culprits refuse to pay the 'private fines', they are promptly processed for court at which point they are usually given exaggerated sentences like 5 to 10 years for possession of or smoking a roll or two of marijuana.
Every blessed day our policemen mount road-blocks in the evening ostensibly to deter crime but we all know that every single tro-tro and taxi that plies any route where these road-blocks are mounted are bullied by the police to pay ritual fines whether they have violated any aspect of the road laws or not. And of course again, nobody raises a finger against these policemen. It is widely opined that out of these 'collections', they are to submit a specific amount to their very top-most senior officers
or lose the 'opportunity' to man road-blocks forthwith.
These are just but a few of the most glaring instances of the breakdown in law and order that we live with every day.
On the subject of the arrest and trial of this Abodam guy, I really find it difficult to understand why both the judge and the police are treating the guy as if they have a personal dislike or a personal interest in the case. Why dont they just simply fine or jail the guy and get it done with?
In any case the fuss that our legal system makes against marijuana is far outdated. Lets be honest with ourselves, I think politicians for instance, are more dangerous and a menace to decent society than wee-smokers. Smoking weed is as unhealthy as drinking alcohol so why are marijuana smokers singled out for
exaggerated punishment?

Yes I think it is for abodam's own good. when he eventually come out he will see how refreshing it is to be given an opportunity for meditation and reformation especially during this time of the year when we all expect love and peace to come down to earth and to die for all our sins. So i personally think that abodam's mentors should use this time to counsel him to turn over a new leaf. of course not that type of leaf he smokes. I mean well for abodam.

So if any of such people misbehave they are given stiffer punishment.
Thus this magistrate has the balls to take the right decisions. May God bless him a million fold.

Yes, Kwaw broke the law by smoking in public. But who said disrespect for the law should mean a denial of bail for the crime that he's charged with? Granting the man bail does not exonerate his conduct, not will that keep him from being tried. The reasoning you gave in describing the diffference between the drug suspects versus Kwa Kesse does not hold water. Those drug suspects are accused of more serious crimes than is Kwaw Kesse. Being a suspect does not minimize one's conduct in a serious crime such as conspiring with another accused to commit a serious act. The refusal to grant Kwaw Kesse is senseless and is devoid of any rational legal justification.

Is coke trafficking better than smoking one joint?.A court in Accra has granted coke mafia syndicate bail but Kumasi Police and Court are making sure Kwaw Kese dies in jail just because of a joint. The Ashanti Regional Police Commander,Kofi Boakye is capricious,he should have given Abodam bail when he was taken to the police Station.Kwaw Kese will not run away from Ghana because of one joint so Kofi Boakye has a diabolic hatred against the Hip Star, Abodam. The judge cannot say that if Kwaw Kese is given a bail he will run away.If this is the case then why can't the court fine him?Looking at the case closely,I can say Kofi Boakye and the judge have intentionally refused to grant bail or fine Kwaw Kese just to show off. When Kofi Boakye was arrested in connection with the M/V Benjamin cocain saga,he was bailed despite the magnitute of the cocain and gravity of his case.Stealing of the 37 parcels of cocain or say missing of the historic impounded cocain from the police is still fresh in our memories.Yet Kofi Boakye was bailed and went to court as a free man.The question is,why did Kofi Boakye send Adodam to court without bail?Thank you.

Regardless of how badly folks in Ghana feel about smoking weed in public, the offense should not keep Kwaw in jail without bail while folks who are charged with very serious offenses such as drug dealing and political embezzlement are granted bail by the courts. if Ghana is to progress, it will take more than yapping about political corruption and putting up of massive homes. Ghana's system of justice must also be a progressive one, one that has laws that are fair. Currently, the law dealing with Kwaw Kesse is a joke under any system of justice. The law is crude. Bail under the these circumstances should not be denied. the contnued denial of bail to Kwaw kesse for his offense of smoking weed in a public place is a complete travesty of justice, something that should shame the legal community and parliament in Ghana more than any one else. A country that has its citizens proclaiming loudly to be civilized, yet the country has a legal system that speaks otherwise.

And if an Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to businessman Alhaji Dawood and five others suspected to have aided Nayele Ametefeh to transport 12 kg of cocaine to the UK, then why is this particular judge refusing to grant him a bail. If those who stole so much money of government are allowed on bail and walking free on the streets, why is this particular judge refusing this guy a bail. I just don't get it. Is the judge afraid that this guy will run away when granted a bail? Or, is the judge looking forward for more investigation to be done on whether he was smoking the "Wee"? Why is this guy being held by the authority? It does not make any sense at all. Something is wrong somewhere. Is it with the judicial system in Ghana? Or someone has gone to bribe the judge to hold the guy for some specific reasons? Anything can happen in Ghana. A country where you can steal a goat and be jailed for ten years. A country where you can steal huge amount (GHC 51 million) and be caught red-handed and yet you will be walking free on the streets. A country where politicians steal huge money plainly and nothing is done. Some of these thieves end up as so called presidential staff. Surely something is wrong somewhere. Enough is enough. Please, allow Kwaw Kesse to go home to his family. Base on all that is going on in Ghana, this is a silly case. This particular judge should use his common sense to allow this guy to go home. I wonder why leaders are not arrested by steeling our national had eurn money but rather arrested someone who used his own had eurn money to buy wee, judiciary should enforce the law on the seller's as it is enterprating in the advanced countries like the UK, Germany, US of A and the other nations if we said we want to advance in ghana and stop hypocrayting.
Look, if he didn't, he should send his people to do so. That is justice in Ghana
You could be right but the judge is also right within the confines of the law. What I see is that the judge wants to pump a little sense into the head of ABODAM. The little prison remand is reforming him, according to what I ...

How much did they pay? Is this about respect or the equality before the law?
ABODAM WAS CAUGHT SMOKING WEED. YES EVEN THOSE DEALING IN COCAINE HAVE BEEN GRANTED BAIL. IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY CONNECTED TO THE HIGHEST OFFICE OF THE LAND.
Kwaw should send his people to see the judge. This is GHana.
yes this really tells you Ghana is sick country suspects aiding some one to smuggle cocaine to heathrow has been granted bail.what about him
It is true that Kwaw Kese deliberately broke the laws of the land but refusing him bail whilst those involved in the Ayelegate (cocaine)case were granted bail today is unbelievable. Kwame Boafo Akufo is right that the judge ...

You are purely educated full and a disgrace to the legal fratenity. Do you want to say that you don.t know conditions in narcotic drug offences?
Hold your breath my brother. That's their double standard. They are for it when it suits them. It's their party in government that pass the law on narcotic. With their own joe ghartey as attorney general.
The GHS600,000 Nana Addo used to bribe delegates was contributed by drug barons.
And with Nana as a leading marijuana smoker, drug taking is seen as a human right in NPP.
Anane fiadzoe is a kwasia panin
They refused to bail a wee smoker but accepted to bail cocain deallers.it is a shame to ghanaian judges.Freedom in Ghana without justice.God is watching.
Ghrist Brown in GHANA
I thought these ppl claim cases bothered on drugs do not attract bail and that's the basis for which Kwaw is being denied bail. How come them ppl accused of aiding the Nayele drug trafficker were granted bail? A man smoked a ...

Don't be silly. Those people are just suspected to aid the woman. Kaw Kese was arrested red handed smoking wee in public. That's disrespect to rule of law.
Yes, Kwaw broke the law by smoking in public. But who said disrespect for the law should mean a denial of bail for the crime that he's charged with? Granting the man bail does not exonerate his conduct, not will that keep him ...

My layman's thinking tells me the judge is trying be a disciplinarian and not what he's supposed to do as a judge.
His fatherly responsibility and behaviour is getting in the way of his judicial duties.
Kwaw Kesse is more better than Obinim who want to the prägnant woman,Mr Juge what ur going to do with Obinim?
i feel sorry for this kwaw kesse
Cris Brown what did he smoke when he csme to ghana or its lalipop. Free Kwaw Kese and stop that 'shameful act' as Bafour Akofu said
THE LAW IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS. THIS TYPE OF NPP HYPOCRISY IS ABSURD.
Ghana needs to line up many Judges in the system to be slaughtered like animals. If you are a cocaine smuggler you can have a bailout but if you smoke a weed you cannot have bailout that is Ghana for fools. What a law?
If an Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to businessman Alhaji Dawood and five others suspected to have aided Nayele Ametefeh to transport 12kg of cocaine to the UK, then one sees no reason why Kwaw Kesse should not be gran ...
