There is no need to value assets or pay off any liabilities. GNPC will assume the liabilities and take over the assets
Both are governments entities that can be combined.
Do you value or pay off liabilities when govt.ministries are eliminated and combined efficiency?
This process should take hours not days.

This is definitely a decision taken by an inexperienced leader. If we really want to win easily in 2016 Ministers such as the one for Energy and his team should be sacked. This is incompetency to the highest order.

In fact, the takeover has caught everyone by surprise. It has been done in a haste. It looked the Ministry had been coerced into that trip. It beggars believe that such an important decision could be taken without consultation and agreement between all the players involved, least of all the overseeing Board. In any case, the creation of such a gigantic entity has potential problems. There may come a time when it has to split up again. Thus, wasting time and money for the takeover!

Can someone please explain to me more clearly why Dr Botchwey is whining, as I am somewhat confused about a few points in the report. In the earlier paragraphs of this report Dr Botchwey was quoted as saying he heard about the deal on radio just as everyone else did. Then in the last paragraph he was quoted as saying he was informed at a meeting on Dec 9 that the transfer had been completed. How can the two statements be reconciled; Why did the Honorable Board Chairman not express any surprise and point out the anomaly at that meeting but rather advised that a letter be submitted for further discussion. Why did he subsequently reject the letter that made reference to the notification of the transfer on Dec. 9? Someone to please clear the air as I am truly confused.
