The underlying cause for development gap is the excessive growth rate. We are always trying to provide services for exploding population. Not enough hospitals, housing etc. Looking at the number of houses in Accra and Kumasi and everywhere in Ghana today and comparing them to 1950, they are over 100 times. Yet we complain about lack. It is due to the fact that the population is growing faster than we can afford.

In Ghana and in Africa we are used to having more children. Copying the western system of having just one or two children in a marriage is not adhered to. People with money register one wife but have got several children with other women. Lets take for example the Muslims who are allowed to marry as much as three wives. Each of the wives could have two children with the same man. That means there are six children to that man alone. When you come to the Christians they register to have one wife but at the end of the day other children become known outside the officially registered one. We have to abide by a polygamous marriage to at least two women at a time so that all the children benefit from the wealth of the father after his death. Very soon the number of Muslims would out number the majority Christian because of system. We should all be classed as equals so that the Nation does not give those families any kind of assistance for having more children. The use of Soya milk by most western men has rendered the mem impotent after a short marriage which is making it look like they are controlling their production. We are young nations coming up and we need man power so I don't agree with restriction in giving birth. Just that no one woman should carry more than two pregnancies so that other women would enjoy a family life too. One man two wives at least should be the nom. All children of the man should benefit equally after his death from the inheritance.
