Well said but I am praying that they would not leave the work halfway. Already, there schools like Sunyani SHS that are without beds and students are sleeping on the floor. The numerous schools established by CPP government have been abandoned by all the successive gov's without the slightest maintenance; is this a wise way to build a nation? Education wise, I see no sensible government after Nkrumah's time.

"The drug barons are currently targeting Ghana making us a vulnerable nation hence we must toughen our national security at all our Airports. If Ms Ametefeh has been allegedly doing such manoeuvres since 2009 goodness knows how many of such people have used this method just because of their status in society as security around such people have been relaxed. No one can be trusted when it comes to such issues any more as our security is at stake. We should not even allow the VVIP section security to be relaxed so that unscrupulous people take advantage of such freedom afforded to them in the wake of this saga".

We want the President to name one by one where these schools are located so that the press will visit those places and bring pictures to prove their completion stages. Sometime ago they said they had constructed a teaching hospital in the north but when Vice Presidential candidate for NPP Mohamadu Barwumiah visited the place he brought a picture of a yard completely covered with weeds with fence wall around it; and this is what they called constructed teaching hospital. They also said they had constructed a university in the Volta region, but pictures that came out showed only some few tiny structures which they called university, the rest of the area according the chiefs in those areas were bushes overtaken by reptiles. They said they had supplied computers to some higher institutions before election 2013 and it turned out that most of the schools mentioned did not even exist. Too numerous to mention. Let Mahama name where these schools are and we need to see the pictures. Enough of lies and promises. Time will tell.

The purported 73SHS's are nowhere to be found, Ghanaians don't know which districts, which regions, which cities these purported SHS's are being constructed for it to be independently verified by well meaning and right thinking Ghanaians. Clearly, the gears on propaganda has been shifted into 4th position, with Ghana speeding very fast on the path into the doldrums, with nothing to show for all the loans, taxes and sovereign bonds.
This is not a gov't that is serious about development and they need to be massively fired at the ballot box in 2016.

London’s Heathrow Grabs Africa’s
Narcotic Cleopatra
November 24, 2014
It was a fairytale life for the 32 year
old. A high flying life with deep political
connections across a sub-region of over
260 million people – frequent flights in
not only the first class sections of some
of the World’s leading airlines, but
Bombadier Private Jets reportedly
belonging to one of West Africa’s
richest men and the brother of the
current Ghanaian President and
Chairman of the Regional Political
Union. Sleeping in the choicest hotels
around the world came only as an aside.
But this life at 15,000ft, for someone
born and bred in a country with per
capita just over a $1,000, came crushing
down on the Morning of November 10
when Border Security at London’s
Heathrow crashed the operation of the
lady who has been described and
nicknamed by some within the
Intelligence Community as “Africa’s
drug Cleopatra”, having used her
extensive political and social networks to
courier an estimated $75 million of
cocaine directly in just the past three
years.
It all ended for the modern “cleopatra”,
originally born Ruby Adu-Gyamfi when
a trip planned to be like the many she
has undertaken to over 28 countries in 5
continents turned out to be the opposite
as a result of collaborative work
between intelligence agencies in four
continents but interestingly without the
knowledge of any of her native Ghana
or Africa’s security units due to a
strong suspicion of complicity at the
highest level of Ghana’s political system.
With the world’s best intelligence and
security agencies behind her track, it
was supposed to only be a matter of
small time before this drug baroness was
nailed. However, numerous aliases, dozens
of passports bearing different names
and pictures – including those from
Austria, Canada, Brazil and Belarus and
several Ghanaian and Nigerian
passports – including a Ghanaian
diplomatic passport, allowed her rare
privileges both within the country and
outside. As though this was not enough,
cosmetic surgeries, aided by plastic
surgeons, and the sheer brazenness of
her operations plus the well documented
help of officialdom in her native Ghana
had succeeded in aiding her to escape
arrest for over 24 months.
When security officials finally closed in
on her, not even the power of the
Ghanaian Presidency or the brandishing
of a diplomatic passport could save her.
In her possession was as much as 12
kilograms of cocaine valued
conservatively at $5 million. So
unbothered was her operation that
unlike many others who conceal their
consignment in several ingenious ways,
‘Cleopatra’ carried her full consignment
in her hand luggage, having used the
VVIP Presidential lounge at Ghana’s
Kotoka International Airport, according
to local reports and signals picked from
Scotland Yard, one of the agencies that
worked on her capture.
Intelligence officers indicate that Ruby
managed to get her consignment safely
into the first class section of the
particular British Airways flight using
her connections in the Ghanaian
establishment, who managed to even get
a security official to safely courier her
consignment into the plane. Sources
close to the operation that nailed her
say that Ruby was spotted by other
first class passengers trying to fit 2kg
of her consignment into her hand bag.
These passengers alerted the British
Airways staff while the plane was
approaching London with the staff in
turn radioing Heathrow to be on alert.
On arrival at Heathrow, border security
officials, who had ordered only the first
class passengers to disembark, quickly
asked her to step aside to be searched.
This request is said to have infuriated
Ruby, who questioned the security
officials, pulling out her Ghanaian
diplomatic passport in the process. This
diplomatic passport with the name Ruby
Mahama did little to convince Border
Security who proceeded to carry out the
search.
So excited were the global intelligence
agency when she was finally captured
that three top officials of the Drug
Enforcement Administration (DEA) of
the United States quickly jetted off to
London, within 4 hours of her arrest, to
interrogate her on various matters of
concern to American officials in their
unending war on narcotics.
Norman Shanks, an Aviation Security
expert who spoke to Airport
International was puzzled that the
major achievement chalked by Heathrow
in capturing this long sought after Drug
Empress did not make it into headlines
of the mainstream British and
International Press, but was also of the
view that it did not make it into the
major headlines because the top
international agencies that worked on it
wanted to keep a lid on her arrest for
various reasons.
“This for me seems to be the biggest
victory in many months for the global
drug war. Arresting this lady was
important to stop a large part of the
volumes of narcotics we have seen
pouring into Europe and North America
in the past few years. Again, this was
one of the most difficult operations in
recent years because with her very close
connections and helpers in the Ghana
government, it was almost impossible to
expect any local help to close in on her.
All the work therefore was completely
done by agents of foreign agencies and
mostly from foreign bases and in such a
situation, you can only depend on luck”,
Shanks said, from his Coventry base.
Before her arrest, Ruby, who also goes
by the name “Angel” had been spotted,
according to intelligence sources in
Nigeria, during the inauguration of a
multimillion dollar Stadium in a country
where over 70% of the population still to
find, let alone live on a dollar a day. Her
mission there, according to the reports,
was to help entertain the top political
elite across West Africa, including the
Presidents of the three big West
African Nations – Nigeria, Ghana and
Cote d’ivoire, who descended on Akwa
Ibom, one of the many states in Nigeria
whose Governor put up the Stadium as a
legacy project.
For now, Ruby Angel or Cleopatra as she
was appropriately christened will no
longer be travelling with Presidents or
entertaining them. She will not also
enjoy the luxury of her villas in Accra’s
most expensive suburbs including her
main mansion at Trassaco Valley, which
is the city’s Beverley Hills with multi-
million mansions belonging to Ghana’s
political class and business elite as well as
some of Nigeria’s richest. Her properties
in Cantonments and East Legon, which
are also extremely expensive suburbs in
Ghana’s capital with land going for as
much as a million dollars, will certainly
also miss her.

Some schools in Tamale have no tables and chairs for their pupils
It now comes to light in the wake of the cocaine saga, revealing information popping is out about the brother of the President’s brother Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners. It appears the Mahama families are living well and money is not a problem. I am just probing and analysing into the information captured on ghanaweb.com 27/11/2014 in which Ibrahim Mahama reported that he has been a businessman for many years, working very hard like many others to earn a decent living for family and myself. Illicit drugs are a no go area for me he concluded.
It has also transpired that the brother of the President has such wealth including his own private plane has which has no red mark on its door.
I see that these days some businessmen in Ghana do their own private planes. This is great news!
Perhaps I am not figuring what is actually happening in Ghana with the economic progress and economic success, which has pushed some people like Ibrahim Mahama, owns his own jet though? It is not a crime but a displaced priority amidst poverty. My big question is, why then is our President wasting the taxpayers’ money jetting the globe in search of loans from the developed countries to sort our domestic affairs when there are already richer stakeholders luring around within Ghana. At least the interest such loans would free or at most very minimal.
May be his thoughts are rational!
In any case we have a case here, the brother of the President owns his own private jet and appears to be one of the very rich businessmen in Ghana on a decent salary as the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers.
On the other hand too, we have children in the same country children who are being rented out for domestic purpose by the middle class because no provision in our system to address their basic needs. For example “ child benefit” for all children and their families to alleviate the pains and suffering these go through.
Everyone knows we are a rich in natural resources yet so many of our own people are unemployed and live in poverty. Some of our politicians have no clues about the determinants of health, which would have helped them in appreciating the agonies this group encounter every day in their attempts in escaping poverty. Our country is one of the most densely populated countries in West Africa. The wealthy men still out chasing younger women with a mission to further worsen the situation. As we read in our media daily some politicians have turned the political scene into a money making machine using dubious ways and tactics in duping state asset thus making Ghana poorer and poorer thus becoming heavily indebted at the expense of the vulnerable and disadvantaged people. I will like to think that our politicians truly want to make a difference for our motherland.
Three regions in the North are particularly very deprived and suffering leaving many concerned NGOs to genuinely chip in in an attempt to alleviate pains and suffering of these group of people. Children and pregnant mothers are dying because no provision has been made for them even in the current Budget Statement are still unable to afford healthcare. It is not the fault of some of our politicians as some of them have the basic requirements needed for such post. The voters say they like a someone they never check the qualifications of a politicians. The only thing they check if whether politicians are rich enough and but to find out the wider aspects of a particular individual for example whether they have made a difference in their own community because if he has then he would apply the same principles in when in a higher office.
Presently, a significant percentage of people die in Ghana caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. Water aid organisation have noted that 3 million people have no clean water and their only choice is to collect dirty water from unsafe sources in this 21st century in Ghana.
The 2015 Budget Statement read some few weeks ago was a fire fighting and sinkhole one with no provision made within it to address issues of concerns address in the article.
Let’s reflect on the plight of these group of people caught up in these scenarios mentioned earlier. I am referring to the disadvantaged young children, young adult and their families due to disabilities / lack of education. These groups are still ending up on our high streets as professional beggars or hawkers and opportunistic petty thieves. Some also suffer mental health issues. I would like to think that the Minister of Finance considered them in his Budget, as they are not his identified 800 orphans. Was any provision made any provision in his Budget Statement to address these issues?
When you go up and down our rural areas children are being educated under the trees with no risk assessment or assessment of the quality of teaching, teachers are not paid so busy transacting their petty business instead of teaching the pupils. Yet those some out there who can easily afford to help communities if they take up their quota of social responsibility but are not.
Close to your heart to Ibrahim Mahama’s own town where children are being educated in classrooms without tables and chairs.
As a Northerner one would like to think that this gentleman would be working on towards his social responsibility contributions is making a difference there. He said he has been a businessman for many years, working very hard like many others to earn a decent living for family and myself. So the obvious would be taking up his social responsibilities to help in alleviating the sufferings already discussed.
There so much poverty in the North and with his expertise in engineering one would thought a rich Northerner may like to emulate the English gentleman Richard Branson is providing a railway service in the U.K by also attempting a similar service from Accra to the North. Would this be a brilliant initiative perhaps? Thus such initiative would have helped in reducing the inequalities some people in the North face daily due to lack of effective communication. It would also help in creating jobs and reduced the number of young energetic hopefuls who end slaving themselves in the south. This would be seen as giving something back into ones own community. May be Accra means everything to some Northerners these days whiles may chose to forget their roots.
Any genuine successful hard working businessman would be measured against what they have achieved in giving something back to their community. The trend still continues as young people from the North are risking their lives rushing to the South in search of new opportunities. It is everyone’s responsibility ensure that the there is regeneration in the North and children and young people have some hope to achieve their full potential in life.
The plight of this disadvantaged group in the North needs to be acknowledged by the Minister of Finance and factor this in the Budget so that we see drastic reductions of the exodus, as currently it remains unchallenged.
I would like to think that Ghana is not going down hill in developmental terms. Why were we in too much of a hurry to become an independent country in the first place? Kwame Nkrumah was selfish but only was one of a kind. He never owned his own private plane or did he?
Currently we are seeing some politicians who are not fit for purpose yet accepting higher position and then later on reflection publicly say they regret accepting their position. Why? Some don’t even have the qualification, which give politicians that sounded trend of thoughts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE). This is a degree programme is rooted in the view that to understand social phenomena one must approach them from several complementary disciplinary directions and analytical frameworks. The study of philosophy is considered important because it both equips students with meta- tools such as the ability to reason rigorously and logically and facilitates ethical reflection. The study of Policitcs is considered necessary because it acquaints students with the institutions that govern society and help solve collective action problems. Last but not least is studying Economics which is seen as vital in the modern world because political decisions often concern economic matters, and government decisions are often influenced by economic events. So why are some of our policiticians not got this basics.
Many of our politicians are Mr and Mrs nice guys not fit for purpose therefore not astute to the wider aspects of being a politician other than the obvious to make a Million dollars . Because of this short coming many are not challenging enough to reject a sinkhole budget statement. Ghana do not need a Mr or Mrs Nice guys any more and should not be voted into office. Brillaint leadership qualities is what is needed to take the country forward.
Poverty in Ghana is not acceptable in this 21st century any longer and must be challenged by all political parties. Our Parliament must have the Gantt chart to seriously tackle the inequalities the country is facing on a 5 year programme to ensure that every child and pregant woman receive the best health in their community. The budget statement did not address this area at all? Either we have a second Budget Statement or not future Budget Statement must tackle and address all these concerns. The Minister of Finance either delibrately missed early years development or is not aware of the problems they are facing. The needs of the early years is equally as essential as those in SHS and further education.
It grieves ones heart when we see afluent indivudals who claim they are hard working individuals but fails to think of the wider world around them therefore not making any efforts towards their social responibilities. In life we are all entitle to 3 scores and 10 anything else is a bonus . So should we not be working towards scoring points for our next world where accountability is not amassing wealth and living comfortably but playing a role in acccepting our individual social responsibility and improving the lives of the younger generations. Yes indeed ! This is our only way of securing a free ticket for a more secured comfortable retirement home upwards to heaven. Ghana is full of greedy lots who would use dubious means to be acknowledge in society as rich men and women. Forgetting theat when we die we eveything behind as “nyemanye ma” ie useless waste..
