Chief, I agree with you that a new ministry is not required to deal with the energy crisis. Instead, the President should have sacked the minister for Energy who has failed and is incompetent. All what is required is effective and efficient Energy Minister with one deputy who will be responsible for power generation and distribution. How can there be separate ministries for Energy and Power? Is power not part of Energy? Waste of scarce resources.

The President should have sacked the MD of ECG long time ago also for incompetence. Until Mahama takes on incompetent ministers and heads of public institutions, his presidency will fail abysmally.

1. Corruption Sensitivity Training: Educate the executives(attorney general, the judges, public officials, immigration, police officers)about the short, long term effects and impacts of corruption. Corruption Sensitivity Training should be a mandatory part of interview process, class, testing requirement for all ministers and public sector officials. Make them aware of the consequences and have them sign off on this. If judges, police officers, employees are educated and made to understand the explicit and implicit impacts of corruption and how it affects their own salaries, bonuses etc. Things will change!
2. Enforce the Law: Offenders must face jail time, tickets/fines, sell assets to payback what has been stolen, name and shame offenders in media
3. Put ethical persons in positions of power,

If the good people and government of the USA and governments across Western European countries cannot be correct 100 percent of the time apprehending people who want to harm the innocent in those civilized industrialized nations what chance do we have stopping activities of people who are more likely to pay bribes to corrupt officials each step of the process to get where they need to get? Lesson one, Dr. Aning, look around Ghana and you will not find any agency of government that is corrupt-free or bribery free and why not? Short of dismissing all employees at sensitive government agencies and perhaps setting the bar even higher for aspirants for Ghana's parliament is there any overhaul greater that what political parties do when they take over government? Look Dr. Aning employees of state are as good as what mother Ghana can give and right now Ghanaians are as corrupt and contemptible as they come.
Our women could give a darn about hard working men if there is no money to feed their respective lifestyles and men do not give a hoot about honest, loyal and faithful women if not skin bleached and rotten to the core. These are the character traits that drive a bribery and corruption saturated nation of ours. I dare you and others to suggest we dismiss all workers and start the hiring processes all over.

Corruption is a difficult process, but can be fought and reduce when corrupt officials are caught and dealt with. In his celebrated book, Chinua Acebe describes Mallam Kano as Nigeria's saint.
Not a single official has faced the law as a result if the AG's reports to parliament for a decade now. Let's act to reduce corruption by naming and shaming officials as well as confiscating assets of the corrupt.

I have a problem with the president taking rush decision. Decisions that is not based on a findings from an investigation. How do you dissolve the BOD of NACOB because a drug trafficker slipped through. If that is going to be the case then you are going to be dissolving NACOB BOD's by heart. NACOB is a human institution and its impossible to prevent every smuggling attempt because the smugglers are also adapting and changing strategies. What is important is to retrain NACOB ground agents so that they can adapt and not get outfoxed. hmm So if one person slips through, you dissolve the BOD. Is that how you measure the performance of a BOD?

Did you call for a total overhaul at NACOB when Member of Parliament was getting his drugs out of Ghana while serving in Parliament during the Kufuor administration? The UK, USA and Euopean countries have their share of drug trafficking within their countries, and the arrest of a big trafficker usually does not trigger cries for overhauling an agency because that agency made inaccurate statements. The person rresponsible for the false statement should be disciplined. Further, if an investigation shows that serious lapses or compromises occurred at NACOB to permit the lady to leave the country with her drugs, then NACOB officials involved in any consipiracy or those who should were negligent should allbe made to pay a price. Drug traffickers will always find ways to undermine the system, but where NACOB may be at fault, the proper remedy is to seek out those who might have compromised their positions and not terminate their services, but also prosecute them criminally.
