Any Tunisian or Burkinabee-syle revolution in this country will have to start from the parliament as it happened in Burkina Faso. Our parliamentarians are so hopeless that the Executive can easily manipulate them to deplete our coffers. If someone hadn't blown the whistle about the GNPC's $700mln dubious loan, the booty could have been shared and squandered without our notice. And our Parliament should have been at the forefront calling for the CEO to resign.

Obviously, Ghanaians are still not hearing the whole story, and we may never know exactly what the money was going to be used for. We believe that GNPC would have hurriedly approached the parliament for approval, if the recent massaged justification given by the CEO was really true and the company had nothing to hide.
This whole thing smells like a stinking rot, and the so-called representatives of the people, hired and over paid to examine and authorize expenditure, must live up to expectation and do their work properly. They have a duty to make sure that the dubious loan is either cancelled or used for the intended purpose, and not allow the money to go down the drain into the pockets of stomach politicians and their cronies as usual.

Governing in Ghana under NDC is all about deceit and 'opium of the people'. They enjoy everything under the sun but, they ask us to wait for our basic needs of life in heaven. Everything they promise is a mirage and we will never find comfort under them.

Chief, I agree with you that a new ministry is not required to deal with the energy crisis. Instead, the President should have sacked the minister for Energy who has failed and is incompetent. All what is required is effective and efficient Energy Minister with one deputy who will be responsible for power generation and distribution. How can there be separate ministries for Energy and Power? Is power not part of Energy? Waste of scarce resources.

The President should have sacked the MD of ECG long time ago also for incompetence. Until Mahama takes on incompetent ministers and heads of public institutions, his presidency will fail abysmally.

Sensible people will go to work and produce for development. You can refuse to buy the petrol or import some and sell at GHS2 per gallon. You can use the monies you have stolen between 2000 and 2008 to order NPP fuel

JJ stole from Ghana to form this NDC party. He ruled for 8yrs that the constitution allowed him. He left Ghana broke that Kufour had to take Ghana through HIPC.
Kufour,however, with his NPP did a noble thing for the people. Under the NPP's 8yr rule, the establishment of a health insuarance for all the was formed and called NHIS. The school feeding program was also established to allow kids in Ghana at least one good and nutritious food while at school, infact some soccer stadiums were built and some old ones refurbished. The NPP embark on road construction to connect all Ghana. The Accra to Kumasi road construction was started by the NPP, and after 6yrs since NPP left power this Accra to Kumasi road is not completed.
The NDC inherited Oil find by the NPP on Ghana's coast. Yhis oil is in commercial quantity and yet all of this has not yeilded any break through
for the Ghanaian, rather we are saddled with loans taken by this NDC government with nothing to show for.
The people should support the NPP by saying NO to this petrolium taxes. The debt the NDC is leaving for Ghana is immense. let us say enough to the NDC.

The opposition is too desperate to come to power. In the process there is only criticism, demo, etc. without effective contribution. That will work against them. NPP must look at their candidates at the regions they fail to win and strengthen these through community projects and assistance. These communities will then have an evident alternative - NPP. NPP must be seeing increase in their numbers at areas they did not win. Personally I feel the confusions are least understood by someone in the village since confidence and trust in all politcians have waned.

The policy makers use their 4 wheel drives that consume a lot of petrol. The poor ones in the villages that vote for them do not have roads, portable water and health centers. Stop these street nonsense. Poor people vote for you, you cannot solve their problems and you are adding insult to injury by inviting them to the street instead of working. Will that build a country?
