Chief, I agree with you that a new ministry is not required to deal with the energy crisis. Instead, the President should have sacked the minister for Energy who has failed and is incompetent. All what is required is effective and efficient Energy Minister with one deputy who will be responsible for power generation and distribution. How can there be separate ministries for Energy and Power? Is power not part of Energy? Waste of scarce resources.
The President should have sacked the MD of ECG long time ago also for incompetence. Until Mahama takes on incompetent ministers and heads of public institutions, his presidency will fail abysmally.

You bloody well don't understand. It is good to have freedom but that shouldn't be used to disseminate the untruth.
Journalism in Ghana is a mockery when those of the pen fraternity can't do a little investigative work before going to press. But Mahama must take the blames for the mediocrity since he has been a non-president. Real presidents are assertive and take control so fiercely no one should have the least chance to fool.

is GBA saying that journalists are above invitation? We must practice responsible journalism. the Lady whose photo was wrongly published as a the cocaine lady is living with the trauma. no one is talking about her. all we are concerned about is a simple invitation to get to the bottom of an issue? lets be serious.
I agree with the GBA that the BNI should have allowed the media men access to their counsels but it was in order for them to be invited. if you publish a story that a cocaine suspect holds a diplomatic passport, it is the responsibility of the security agencies to find out how the lady got the diplomatic passport.
if journalists want to be left alone, they must be responsible and double check facts, instead of doing this lazy work.

Mahama is the president of the land and should know better about the functions of the BNI. for him to do PR for the BNI invite is just unfortunate. Let the police handle those and confine BNI to their role. Don't use them for NDC purposes to silence the media over political affiliated stories. Has the BNI invited the editor of the Hajj on the numerous stories of drug trafficking alleged against political opponents of NDC??

Mr. GBA Prez, I understand you hail from Ada, the place where the young lady whose photograph Citi Fm intentionally and mischievously put out as that of the cocaine lady. You don't think that the innocent lady who has been traumatized by the unprofessional conduct of your above-the- law journalists also has a right? Or will you be seeking redress and compensation for her? Don't you think you are compromising your credibility? It is about time you began thinking as a lawyer. GBA must stop trying to make itself relevant because its membership is reflective of the tribal and or political party schism we have normalized. GBA failed Ghana when its members sat around for the 1992 constitution to be ratified by parliament. A constitution that has no moral principles cannot ensure a just society as such is seizes to have foresight and ideals. Most of GBA members are of the NPP stripe and just as they saw no dangers to Ghana with acts of sabotage, terrorism and treasonous acts of their parental origins of the CPP era so it is they cannot find wisdom in interrogating a radio/TV personality without legal representation. NPP driven agenda by GBA may be fine in an ideal nation where citizens are moral and principled but not in a tribal and political party driven society where wrongs are not made right in the courts and the safety security and health of citizens is the task of the president.

The use of the security apparatus of the State, to serve the interests of the governing, and to seek to dampen, cower and restrain the principles underlying any democracy, and the citizen's right to good governance has never been successful.
Indeed, numerous examples abound across the seven(7)continents of the World to show that, gov't's that chose that path of intimidation, coercion, cajoling and outright violence in all of such cases, never survived to tell their story on the successes of such exercises.
It would not be happening in Ghana.
Dovetailing to the issue of Mahama's justification of BNI's action on the cocaine saga, it must be condemned in no uncertain terms.
It was an irresponsibility on the part of BNI at the coercion of the State, to seek to cower the media and also effectively, kill the story and discredit the media, concerning the NDC drug baron with connections to the first family.
Increasingly, the security apparatus are being employed in a manner akin to the military jingoism of the PNDC era, where citizens were brutally assaulted by the security forces in Tema during a demolition exercise, where reporters representing various media houses have been brutally assaulted by the security forces in Takoradi, Accra and Tema, where the security forces have brutally assaulted citizens in Kumasi, demonstrating against the bad road network on the Barekese road.
Just about a day or so ago, news in the media had it that, students of Wa Islamic school were brutally assaulted by the security forces. Students of the Mampong Nurses Training college have also been brutally assaulted by the security forces all at the behest of the Mahama NDC gov't.
This is a route that portends evil for the country when the gov't of the day, assumes rather erroneously that, force, intimidation and violence is the legitimate recourse to governance, and societies have never survived the pushback.
In this matter of the busted NDC drug baron, the laws provide for any individual whose person has been maligned and suffered an injury to seek redress in the courts, and it is the right thing to do in a democracy underpinned by the rule of law.
The action of the BNI was objectionable, irresponsible, reckless and totally uncalled for. The media the fourth realm of the Estate is a critical development partner and the nature and scope of their mandate comes with the good, the bad and the ugly.
The Mahama NDC gov't should learn to appreciate and accept the various scenarios that plays out in the development paradox, and seek to build upon those changing scenarios and the curveball thrown their way to ensure good governance, effective leadership, accountability, transparency and development of the country, because any attempt to use the other route which is increasingly becoming a mainstay of our democracy, is a sure recipe for disaster and chaos.

I think the GBA should be real, put on the reasoning caps and do proper reasoning and stop writing big-big words.
