O please give us a break who doesn't know majority of our customs officials are corrupt? If you have ever shipped stuff to Ghana those of you living in abroad that use shippment services would attest to what i am saying, by the time your shipment leaves the tema harbour alot of your items would have been stolen, you wonder why most customs personnel like to be stationed at the harbour so that they can steal, government agencies in Ghana are all corrupt really without exception! Yet you see all these people claiming to be rightous packing our churches on sundays and others on fridays packing our mosques but they steal and cheat their fellow human beings on a daily basis. There is nothinh new about this case, it is a well known fact in Ghana that they are corrupt.

Corruption in Ghana especially among custom officials is too much. Sometimes when you talk about Africa to some friends from other continents the first thing they ask which part of Africa do you come from when you tell them Ghana their quick response is kalabule country, corrupt nation I become soo surprise how these guys get all these information. It is a shame to me when I hear them passing such a comment even though I can't rule out that there is no corruption in US it is about 0.5% and those of ho do that hide it but the situation in Ghana is different please please who can help bring this bad behavior to the end is it govt, church leaders , or who let us all try to do something about because it is a disgrace to us in the whole world wide

What survey? Are the people who give the bribes from pluto? Lets stop this finger pointing. it wont help our fight against corruption. Let everybody see himself or herself as corrupt first off all then half the problem will be solved. This business of tagging people as corrupt is backward and these so called think tanks should change their modus operandi. If an importer is given a bill to pay, it is the same importer who leads the customs officer to reduce it and thereby bringing corruption. This practice is done by pastors, bankers, civil servants. Stop the name calling

You don't bribe customs, they can afford to waste your time by delaying your good on the roads or transit, why because they got time on their side just like the police but customs is worse.

Hello All,
Some of you raised issues about vested interests of the Alliance because of speaking against malpractices of the uniformed authorities.
This shows the extent that we as citizens are failing in our duty of holding officials accountable: we are willing to deny malpractices and protect institutions, instead of holding them accountable and insisting that the bad apples be punished.
If you have been on some of our dialogue sessions, you will notice that police and customs officials tend to make blanket statements that deny any wrongdoing and shift blame to truckers and traders. You rarely hear about uniformed personnel mentioning corrupt officials and when they do, they are either retired or anonymous. Why?
We should be more outspoken as a people towards our officials. Forget partisanship, this is beyond politics.
Our work is not aimed towards individuals, but rather for the interest of the business community of West Africa. Look up our news at www.borderlesswa.com and feel free to send us constructive comments instead of mindless accusations.
