Either the reporter needs to have both his ears and brains checked or the Minister who gave the speech needs higher education -- this is a loan and would be paid back, or we are knowingly borrowing as much as we can, become HIPC again, be forgiven and it becomes a donation, otherwise why would anyone in their right mind borrow and use any of it to buy feminine hygiene items? Or I forget, chopped to the bone.

So sad that WB doesn't have a good monitoring system to make sure that this huge amount of money is not directed at or to the real intent under which the deal was struck. Ghanaian politicians are the actual beneficiaries of such deals. It's their private and individual account that are going to swell while our kids will still be going to school under trees with cement blocks substituting as chairs and tables.

Ghana is really a screwed up country where a little bit smarter fools are ruling real fools.

Burkina Faso used people's grass root power to overthrow an entrenched military despotic ruler but Ghanaians are so dumb they are lulled to sleep by a government perceived as "democratic" but which in actual fact is as fascist as they come and has turned our beautiful country into their personal property and leading the country to a very chaotic end.

The Burkinabes didn't need the military to bail them out. It's about time Ghanaians woke up to the fact the we should be our own saviours and kick this useless government out of power.

We don't need the NPP either because they are no better than the NDC.

The NPP will also fleece Ghana just as much as the NDC has done.

This is money earmark for the fairer distribution of education throughout the country and not just Accra to put a complete stop to under the tree form of education, primary schools without tables and chairs as writers have fight for the acknowledgement that no provision has been made to stop the under the tree form of education as children as put at risk .This is no longer an excuse for the Parliament. if writers have not made this public the money would not have been awarded to us. Every town, village should benefit from the money. We are watching the progressing. Educatwe children to grow their own crops and use the harvest in feeding them. Please do not waste this precious meoney in buying 4 by 4 vehicles for yourselves .

The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute and said, "Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give back to the community in some way?" The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?" Embarrassed, the United Way representative mumbled, "Um... No." "Or," the lawyer continued, "that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?" The stricken United Way representative began to stammer out an apology but was interrupted when the lawyer added, "Or that my sister's husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer's voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?" The humiliated United Way representative, completely beaten, said simply, "I had no idea..." However, donating this money without reforming the system of education of the deprived areas is going to lead to the misuse of the money.

Do the children really need laptops, desktops, projectors, new black boards, white boards, tablets, or sanitary pads or books?

Why did this emanate from the Northern Region, instead of northern Volta Region, or the deprived parts of Ashanti Region?

GES should have done a needs assessment.

Alhaji Limuna announced this in a speech read on his behalf in Tamale during the Northern Regional Best Teacher Awards ceremony which was organised by Ghana Education Service.

The event was on the theme: “Unite for Quality Education” and honoured 33 hardworking teachers identified in 2012 in the Region.

He indicated that the government had distributed over 3,000 laptop computers and accessories to teachers in the Region to enhance teaching and learning.

He said more of the Laptop computers and the accessories would be supplied to all colleges of education throughout the country to promote research and quality education.

He also urged labour unions to dialogue with government to resolve their challenges rather than embarking on strike actions.

The Minister congratulated all the award winners and urged them to continue to put up their best to promote quality education in the country.

The awards were in 10 categories, which included the following: Primary school, Junior High School, Senior High School, Basic School Science and Mathematics, Second Cycle Institution Science and Mathematics, Special Education, Non-Teaching Staff, Vocational and Technical Skill, Information Communication and Technology, and Kindergarten.

The winners received refrigerators, television sets, and gas cookers.
