Lack of knowledge. All the thermal energy in Ghana accounts for 40% of our energy needs. Even if we have all the gas in the world, that will not solve the problem unless the hydro plants are also working at full capacity which is not the case. Anyway, is it the business of Chief of Staff to comment on energy matters?

When will you people get over your lost of the 2012 elections? If the problems of thermal which u claim is only 40% are not solved how can you solve that of Hydro which depends on nature?

The point I want to make is that, he is putting himself into more trouble. Because the gas will start flowing and then we will still be having blackouts because the hydro is not running at full capacity due to low water levels. What the Chief of staff should have said is that, the situation will improve. It is not going to be a thing of the past until all power generating plants are properly maintained and running at full capacity

Nana, you are absolutely right. The natural gas from the Jubilee oil field is not sufficient to address Ghana's energy (power and LPG) requirements. Ghana will still need natural gas from Nigeria until more gas come on stream from production of newly discovered oil fields. The Chief of Staff is therefore giving false hope that dumsor will be a thing of the past. That is exactly what President Mahama said sometime ago and dumsor worsened instead.
The deputy minister for energy was also reported to have said that dumsor will end within a month. I do not know what is wrong these politicians or whether they take Ghanaians for fools. What is certain is that the more they give these false assurances that never materialise the people lose confident in them. The NDC government as a whole has either a communication problem or unable to tell the truth.

What the President says after his visit to Bui not so long ago was that very soon Ghana was going to have surplus power to sell to our neighbours and the 'dumsor-dumsor' was going to be a thing of the past. The situation only got worse thereafter.
