Any way, the officers at that barrier in the middle of nowhere are still collecting bribes from drivers? And the MTTU team that set up a temporary checkpoint along the Ejisu to Kumasi road are always doing their own thing. Wake up IGP!

Along with commending the good officers, we have to see more of the corrupt officers being sacked and or jailed, to believe the police service is actually turning round for the better.

Keep it guys. This is how to make a change.
We should do our part in fighting corruption. Without it - we are as a nation, definitely stagnant.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan should enroll in some policy and media management courses to learn when and when not to confer unto his employees medals or commendations.
Ghana's police force on any given day is demoralized because the paycheck of the rank and file officers do not reflect the very critical role they play in keeping law and order in society even while they are tempted and accused of bribery and corruption, an ailment that affect every soul in the Ghanaian society. However, publicly rewarding officers for rejecting attempts of bribery reinforces the erroneous perception. Why else would it be necessary to reward/commend the officers if their act was a norm within the police force?

The Takoradi Poly Students who were sacked for applying with fake certificates must be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction. Just sacking them is not enough.
Nowadays businesses and government organisations have stopped demanding Secondary School Certificate or Basic Education Certificate.
Each of these certificates are important. For example for many tertiary graduates the only certificate that can tell whether one can speak good English or whether one has adequate knowledge of Mathematics is the Secondary School Certificate.
Similarly the only certificate that can tell whether a tertiary graduate has basic knowledge of Ghanaian history, culture, agriculture and the basic geography of West Africa is the Basic Education Certificate.

It is only in Africa that police refusal to accept bribes is rewarded. Isn't that what they are expected to be doing as normal duties?

I dont see the justification of bravery or an award being given here. The Police service by convention dont have to take bribes and thats that. no 2 ways about it. Also bribery is a sin which we all know as its clearly written in the Bible and other forms of religious books. There are sooo many unsung heroes that needs to be awarded. It seems bribery and corruption has been engraved and embedded in our DNA that it was a shock tothe police chief - - -Bonboclots thieving bastards....
