$100 per dose. It is worth it; we would pay for it. The government must find money for it and place orders immediately. We expect to see an indication of this in the budget statement which would be read by the minister.

Countries train their doctors differently and award different degrees. It is time we started conferring Doctor of Medicine degrees to MBChB students who have performed the necessary research projects as some countries do.

The current practice where newly inducted doctors called house officers with no experience whatsoever are left to experiment with (attend to) serious medical cases while residents, specialists and consultants are away must be put to a stop immediately. There must be at least one specialist present 24 hours in three shift rotations to supervise them. Our health system as it is presently is not the best. The situation in the countryside and rural communities is even worse.

Do not doubt the wisdom in these words.

Why must the UN be responsible for the health, safety and hygiene of anyone in West Africa? In each West African nation, we have presidents who are more likely than not to have illegally amassed more than US$5miilion+ in hiding in foreign banks with even more assets hidden not to mentions a host of family and political party loyalists who have also amassed obscene amounts of money at the expense of its citizens. If citizens of those nations along with some of our benefactors in civilized nations who choose free market values and the color of money that comes with economic exploitation over doing the right thing by exposing corrupt leaders why must the world be held hostage each time Africa and Africans cannot prove they were ever ready to be independent? Ebola by any measure can be tamed with the existence of clinics and hospitals fit for humans?

Africa and Africans do make choices each day. Here in Ghana there some in political parties who could care less how many people die just as long as they get the almighty political power they seek. Otherwise why would the mostly good people in Kumasi refuse to honor a hospitalization scheme brought upon Ghana by their hero Kufour and why would hospitals refuse to accept a government issued cards except they do so to tow political line drawn by their puppet masters. So people in Kumasi without money are left to choose between paying for hospital if sick and buying food. In the interim, those political leaders leading the masses with their pockets full of stolen money from us all can pay for their hospitalization and food on a whim.

The foot soldiers and a majority of ignorance have left us all blind and incapable of seeing through the gamesmanship of the NPP and NDC. The two major parties that have forced us all to be each other’s throat have not and are not seriously drawing up plans to ensure there are adequately equipped hospitals in every district. NPP zealots look to ways to gain majority power while the NDC look to ways to hold on to power. What is lost is the seriousness with which the Ebola virus has exposed the incompetence of leaders in most West African nations. Yes Ebola cannot be easily detected until some 21 days of incubation period but it helps to have hospitals, clinics and other health facilities within short distances in each district with fairly decent equipment and PPE's on and so a controllable incidents do not become pandemic.
