The problem is that corruption is now entrenched in our society. We should all look into ourselves and examine the ways however little that we have been contributing to this cancer from the President, to politicians, pastors, business people, workers and the ordinary man in the street and change our ways.Otherwise even if the likes of Daniel and Job become the President and Vice-President of this nation, the situation will remain the same. Let there be a "National Week of doing right" with no corrupt behaviours anywhere, e.g. at the ports, boarders, IRS, Customs, Vat Office, Police service, Universities, the Ministries, Parliament, Metropolitan and District Assemblies, Churches, Banks, Markets etc. and we will all discover that we are actually a very rich nation. As the bible says, righteousness exalt a nation but sin is a reproach to any people. We cannot condone corruption in the fabric of this nation and expect prosperity. The pastors can contribute their quota by rigorously preaching against this cancer and other vices in the society since majority of us including the president go to church so that we are convicted by the Holy Spirit unto repentance. At the moment majority are just preaching deliverance and prosperity which are also good but will not take us to heaven. I urge those of us who call ourselves Christians to be resolute in being the salt and the light wherever we are without compromising in order to challenge the people around us to also live right.

I agree with Justice Emile Short that the language used by GBA was inappropriate but at the same time, it is true that Afari Gyan's credibility was dented and the image of the Electoral Commission tarnished by what was revealed at the SC Presidential Petition hearing. If Afari Gyan could not define over-voting then why is he the Electoral Commissioner?
The GBA erred to have suggested the appointment of a new EC in advance when the existing one retires in 2015. That is against the constitution and it's sad that those who should be defending the constitution sought to undermine it. I hope they have learnt a lesson from this misguided and uncalled action.

Dr. Apaak should ask himself what the government has done with the numerous cases of corruption that have been exposed? The issue is not the exposure of corruption, but the lack of political will on the part of the government to deal with these corrupt officials and persons who are seen as sympathisers of the NDC. Woyome defrauded the nation of Millions, and what has happened to him? He is still walking about 2 years on, making noise. NDC as a government is corrupt to the bone and is not ready to deal with corruption. The President himself has his hands soiled in many corrupt deals including the purchase of the Embrear Aircraft and the many shady deals he does through His Brother/s. He in not interested in dealing with corruption aside paying lip service to the fight against corruption. Just as he keeps promising heaven on earth as Ghana sinks deeper into Hell. If you live in a glass house, you don't throw stones. So Mahama cannot throw stones, period. NDC is a Thieving Party.

The Arch-Bishop is absolutely right in his deliberations. In that, there are so many CORRUPTIVE ACTIVITIES within the corridors of power in this government which almost every Tom, Dick and Harry can easily pinpoint.
Now for anyone to take this Dr. Apaak serious for asking some sectors of the civil society to play their role in the canker, he (Apaak) should sit up and examine many allegations of FRAUD and other Corruptive activities that this government has engaged themselves in since he joined them, instead of shielding his master DULLARD MAHAMA.
To start off, Dr. Apaak should tell us whether what we were told by the government's own former Attorney General (Martin Hamidu) to the fact that when MAHAMA was the Vice-President under the late ATTA MYTHS, he (the President) set up a panel of Special Investigators (and he did name them too) to investigate MAHAMA for certain CORRUPTIVE PRACTICES.
Unfortunately for the Commission, their work couldn't get started because other Criminal Hawks within the NDC Regime watered the proposal down to ZERO!!!
This MAHAMA is also known to have largely benefited from the STX Korean Housing Fiasco whereby Ghana lost some $247 Million on a Project that Ghanaians didn't even get to know where it was supposed to start from.
Apart from the many JUDGEMENT DEBTS SAGA where we all know that GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN DEEPLY INVOLVED by asking the various State Attorneys NOT to make any representations to the Courts so that the cases would be rendered USELESS.
Furthermore, for the simple reason that the Churches had been attacking the Government about this very Corruption Saga, the government has seen fit to TAX the CHURCHES as a way of silencing them. And this makes Ghana to be the only country in the world to TAX an Organisation where the Poor, Needy and the Vulnerable could seek solace from.
So Dr. Apaak, stop shielding your USELESS and DULLARD MAHAMA who is hell bent on putting Ghanaians in a state of penury.
SOME DOCTORS MAKE YOU SSSSSSICK AND OTHERS MAKE YOU WELL!!!!

Certainly, the Churches and Men of God and Civil Society have a role to play in the Fight against Corruption, but to suggest that the Churches equally share in the Fight is a COP OUT and SMACKS of admitted FAILURE.
The Churches and Men of God, for starters, have NEVER stood on Platforms and Campaigned for Political Power. They have also never been formally approached by Government to lead the fight against Corruption. Indeed, any time Men of God have spoken to Corruption Issues, particularly, those involving Political Leaders, all Manner of Insults and Words not expected from Societal Leaders are heaped on them.
How does Dr. Apaak expect the Church and Civil Society to fight the Canker when Government simply lacks the POLITICAL WILL to PROSECUTE those who have been indicted of one Corrupt practice or another?
Government, amazingly, has failed to lead this fight. Even when others go out of their way, Martin Amidu comes to mind, to fight Corruption, he is treated by the very Govt. who would be the ULTIMATE Beneficiary as if the fight is rather against that Govt.
Dr. Apaak, please, what has happened to those who have been INDICTED in several Reports to have compromised their INTEGRITY? Tell Us.
How many FILES on Corruption are gathering DUST simply because Govt. lacks Prosecutorial WILL or INTEREST?
What has happened to SADA, GYEEDA, SUBA, ISOFOTON, NYA, NSS, etc., etc.
Even more SAD is that Government agents always LEAK information provided by individuals who go out of their way to provide information on Corrupt practices to the wrongdoers.
What has happened to those Appointees who DARED to stand up against Corruption in their respective outfits? They were made to feel like they have EBOLA and left to waste away. Some, if NOT ALL, have been permanently SIDE-LINED while those accused are still at post and continue LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK.
Some of us went out of our way and at the peril of our lives fought corruption and INCURRED the DISPLEASURE of the various ACTORS and PLAYERS in the Chain of Corrupt Acts.
The result was that we were VIOLATED and given Labels to suggest that we were not 'TEAM PLAYERS'. Martin Amidu continues to wear this label instead of being celebrated for his GALANTRY.
Martin is out of his Job and the people he exposed are still at post ONLY FEELING STUPID FOR GETTING CAUGHT. Meanwhile, they have changed their MODUS and the canker continues UNABATED and AD NAUSEAM.
We all know of the PLANNED and STRATEGIZED Corruption within Govt. itself as a way of mobilizing funds to prosecute Political Agenda.
We know of PARTY GURUS who continue to Supply JUNK to state institutions at Cut-Throat Prices and that is OK so long they throw a few cedis at the Party.
Please, Sir, and with All Due Respect, Dr. Apaak, if you want to do justice to the 'DR' pre-fix to your name, then please, start THINKING and TALKING like one. Please don't come and TALK DOWN to us as though you were forced to seek Political Power.
This Government knows of individuals, whose inclusion in Govt., in itself, constitutes a DECLARATION to fight Corruption. Have you done the MATH on the SYNERGY to be derived in Celebrating the likes of Martin Amidu instead of making them look like OUTCASTS? As far as I know anybody who attempts to fight the CANKER has ended up as a CLOSET ENEMY of the Govt. and the Party.
In fact, it seems as though to qualify for an appointment one must 'Demonstrate' the PROPENSITY to be Corrupt because those who wield the Power and, ONLY they can successfully land you a Job, expect a Payback through Dubious Contracts and calculated and Institutionalized MALFEASANCE.
What has the State's prosecutors done about the many Corrupt Acts indicated by the Auditor General in his various Reports on State Institutions?
Please, ONLY the State can PROSECUTE and TILL the day that the State decides to do that CORRUPTION is NOT going anywhere and any efforts by the Churches and Civil Society are going to lead to NOTHING AT ALL.

Dr. Apaak, please answer the following question: Has Government moved beyond talk and complaints to exposing, reporting and disowning those their members profiting and benefiting from fraud and acts of corruption against the State to the detriment of the people?
When Govt. starts doing ALL of these things you have enumerated, then will Civil Society and the Clergy see their way forward and Clearly and you will not have to invite us to follow in the fight. We will Jump in to lead it.

Both the Government and the Churches must ask their members where they got their sudden wealth from.
In all upright Countries, the Governments' Internal Revenue Services would instantly investigate anyone who acquires a property beyond his or her known legal means.
In the USA, if one buys a car, for example, with cash beyond a certain price, the transaction is immediately reported to the IRS which may follow up to investigate the buyer's source of income. In that case, if the buyer did have access to some wealth that was not reported for tax purposes, then the buyer would be dealt with as the Laws demand.
By the same way, if the buyer had done something illegal to acquire the Wealth then the appropriate Institutions to handle that are notified for immediate action.
Why can't our Parliament simply enact Laws of that nature? Or, if we do already have them, why can't our Law Enforcement Agencies implement them?
Our Law Enforcement is weak and ineffectual because many of the Agency personnel themselves enjoy the illicit benefits of Corruption that is perpetrated against the Nation and the Citizens.
And the Law Enforcement is also weak because of the rotten morality of its Personnel.
So, while the Government owes us the responsibility to ensure that the Law Enforcement Agencies work as demanded by our Laws, the Churches also bears the responsibility of demanding higher morals from their Congregations to get people refrain from Corruption.

The first line of attack on Corruption has to be the Government. It is the Government that is supposed to enact and enforce appropriate Laws to rid the Society of crime.
What most conspicuously stands out as the Government's failure or unwillingness to take the initiative to curb Corruption is the gross neglect of our Law that demands that Officials declare their assets prior to and after serving at their Posts.
No one among the Judiciary, the Parliament or the Executive has been heard to be asking why that Law has not been working. If that Law alone were to be strictly adhered to, more that half of our Corrupt practices would vanish.
Meanwhile, when any Official acquires any property beyond his or her means, the Public easily become aware of it. Such illicit acquisition even when hidden behind rented entities, or located in remote areas could still be found out by our Law Enforcement Agencies, especially in this day of widespread Web access to information.
Yet, the vice keeps raging on, unabated. So, the Government is the first to blame for ignoring the Laws of our Land.

The destructve genes of his father and co are still running through his veins and friends hence their aggressive efforts to get pokitical power. They were in power for 8 solid years and yet nothing good came out for mother ghana exept corruptions of the highest order and also destroying the image of ghana in illicit drug business.

Ducking into confession with a turkey in his arms, Kwame said,
"Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I stole this turkey to

"Certainly not," said the Priest. "As penance, you must return

"I tried," Kwame sobbed, "but he refused. Oh, Father, what

"If what you say is true, then it is all right for you to keep

Thanking the Priest, Kwame hurried off.
When confession was over, the Priest returned to his residence.
When he walked into the kitchen, he found that someone had stolen

I agree with Dr. Apaak. The churches must do more about corruption and stop the complaints. Let is see the church doing its part of the bargain and their complaints will be taken seriously. But for now is just mere rhetoric..where churches are never interested in the source of wealth of their members who clearly do not live within their means with the surplus of corrupt donations going to the church...i do not believe that merely giving back to the church ill gotten wealth will sanctify crimes we commit against our neigbor, country and humanity. It must be a collective responsibility; and i expect privileged leaders like my Bishop to urge his Minister to take the fight against corruption to a higher level. We must be seen engaged in the process and not the shadow boxing and complains that we hear. The church need to do more!

Your rebuttal is great. However, when the moral society is smother by vociferous political voices, no headway can be made. We all need to work hand in hand. Yet when it suits politicians they brush aside the moral voice and go their own way. Corrupt people find ways to defile and muzzle any one they think can stand in their way. The religious leaders will not close their eyes to this but does the current political landscape give any credence to religious and faith-based leaders? Whereas it is true that some so-called church spring up only to fleece their members, is it not true that politicians lump up all religious bodies into one and slump them altogether? If We must make progress with the fight against corruption, let us see to it that everyone has a voice even when it hurts us as a nation. We either stand together and survive or sink under the strange force of corruption as individuals

Not losing your cool is part of the game. Losing your cool tells there is anger and an angry person does not see clearly. Try to keep your cool Iwan. Speaking your mind does not make you a bad person it is only when you intend to cajole and call names that leads to a culture of silence and corruption breeds on the fertile humus of silence.

When a pastor, a bishop or a priest hits the raw cord of sin, you all run away and find a new church - one that will speak of prosperity. They worship elsewhere; where prosperity is preached without scruples. I hope you will make this survey, louis, and make a difference

Corruption is not the preserve of any political party. Let's not behave like the outstretch and think that someone is responsible for it. Corruption is in the churches, public/civil service and every aspect of human endeavor in Ghana. The churches shd tailor their messages to salvation rateher than prosperity as most o them are doing now. The men of God should be bold to talk about corruption at all levels and stop putting it at the doorsteps of any political party. What we are witnessing now involve NDC, NPP,CPP, PNC and members of any political grouping.
