Either Amoateng is stupid or naive to pull what he did. Since he was being deported back to Ghana, the Ghana Embassy could have issued him a temporary travel document if he did not have one. But he chose somehow to obtain a passport fraudulently. People like you seem to think he did nothing wrong. No wonder the country is going down the drain.

I think what happened was that Amoateng made a contact with somebody to get him a passport instead of the embassy because before you are deported the authorities make contact with the embassy to issue the individual passport ...

I think what happened was that Amoateng made a contact with somebody to get him a passport instead of the embassy because before you are deported the authorities make contact with the embassy to issue the individual passport but sometimes the embassy either does not do it or it takes too long to get it which will keep that individual in jail for more months so I believe for him not to say in jail again eager to return home arranged with some family members to get him the passport.
As for knowing if it was fake or not it is possible he didn't know,remember the US authorities accepted the passport before taking him to the airport without also detecting it was fake.

For someone who is about to be deported, he will not be released to be in a position to obtain a forged passport. Any parcels delivered by visitors to the prison will be inspected by the prison authorities. People who are deported don't stay in line with other passengers,they are taken to the office to be processed,hence the involvement of the Senior Officer.

In the first place, after serving 10 years, his original passport would have expired by the time he was released in 2014. So how come he was travelling on a passport dated in 2009.

If the US immigration had acquired a travel document (usually a Travel Document) for him, it would have dated 2014 because the Ghana Embassy would not back-date travel documents.

In simple terms, the US immigration might have applied a TC (tagged as a criminal) for him, but Amoateng decided to travel on a untagged, fake passport just to dodge the criminal label.

Meanwhile, I do not think the case is trivial one. It is a criminal case and must be treated as one. If we label every case in Ghana as trivial, we would never minimize crime, corruption etc.

The critical point is the convict will be taken straight from prison to the plane escorted by state officials. Evidence need to come from the US officials to explain how the convict managed to get the he fake passport.

You seem to be exonerating your corrupt and dysfunctional country, while placing the blame on the US. Amoateng probably had the fake passport in his possession when he was picked up to be deported, therefore, he was not issued a temporary travel document as is often the norm. It wasn't the responsibility of the US authorities to verify the authenticity of the passport. Because Amoateng self-deported, US authorities did not have to accompany him back to Ghana. The government is right to prosecute him for this act, because no one, including Amoateng, is above the law.

As a matter of fact, he knew he was in prison in 2009, so how come he was holding a passport issued in that year - knowing very well that there is NO WAY the prison authority would allow a passport to be issued for him in that year.

Bro, put politics aside and let us face matters as they are. We have to use our brains to reason and not be blinded by politics.

When the dishonorable MP Amoateng was seized and eventually convicted of drug dealing in the US courts he had a Ghanaian passport on his person. Who took possession of his traveling documents? Was it the law enforcement agencies in the USA or was he allowed to keep his passport/travel documents while going through the courts in the US? If the traveling passport on him at the time of his arrest was held by the USA law enforcement agency they would have given it back to him at the time of his deportation and arrival in Ghana. If he gave up his passport to family or NPP card carrying members in the USA while awaiting trial then he, Mr. Amoateng and partners, are the source of the fake passport. From where I sit this case is about a disgraceful drug dealing former MP of the NPP kind who is using the conniving and dangerous criminal minds in the NPP to skirt a rather corrupt and inferior legal system we have in Ghana. The fake passport came to Mr. Amoateng in one of two ways:
1. His family and or sympathizers in the NPP-USA family sought and gave him a passport that had been issued to a fake Ghanaian of the NPP stripe under Kufour's administration when Nana Akufo-Addo was at the helm and drug money funded and financed NPP activities.
2. It was a passport obtained in Ghana by the family of Amoateng or his support system in the Brong-Ahafo region who would dare corrupt our system hoping to sit back and laugh at the nation, its passport issuance system and enjoy how they could outsmart the NDC administration.
In either case the judge in this case must not pretend that a Ghana government institution or representative gave him a new traveling passport after his release from prison. The judge could not also conclude US authorities allowed him to travel with a fake passport via a deportation arrangement. The judge and prosecution must seek a list of all passengers on that flight to Ghana and there is bound to be a diabolical Ghanaian on the flight who handed the passport over to Amoateng in the hopes of obfuscating the shameful arrival of a disgraced NPP MP.

Where were you, Ibrahim, when Amoateng kept denying that he had anything to do with drug dealing when he was arrested in the USA? The fool only finally admitted his guilt when the evidence before the court so overwhemly against him.
