In just two years, John Dramani Mahama and the NDC have brought Ghana to its knees economically. Now, after stealing all of Ghana's money, these stupid and low life miscreants from the NDC are plotting more of the same misery on Ghanaians in 2016? Ghanaians would be the biggest fools on this planet if they vote for NDC in 2016. And, when will the corrupt Electoral Commissioner be changed? Dr. Afari-Djan has no credibility whatsoever!

Please this matter derseves serious attention and not political talk. Those manning the boots were not employed on party basis. Some have worked under different political administration over the years. Hmmmmm, how can the government fight corruption with this level of unpatriotism and get rich quick mentality. The method must be revised to an authomated system, by that tickets will be purchase for a fixed period, ie a month and all one need to to slide it on a machine and the gate authomatically opens. Lots of things are still operated manually in Ghana hence the cheating. NDC or NPP cannot be blame for most of the corruption cases.

O Lord I pray for Mother Ghana, that you reduce the number of FOOLISH VOTERS in 2016. Father the small number that will be left, wash their faces with sea sand so that they would be able to see the predicament they have put Ghana in through their foolish action, and change for the better. I pray that you let them vote this USELESS and CLUELESS GOVERNMENT out. Let those who these FOOLISH VOTERS envy because they are prospering as a result of which they vote foolishly so that they will be equal with them prosper even more. Father let those who are sympathetic to these USELESS VOTERS stop giving them money when they come begging, so that they will realize 'Ghana is hard', and vote wisely this time round. Amen

The Ghana Auditing Services should also check the Value Added Tax ( VAT ) department of the Internal Revenue Service.
These guys will come to businesses, tell the managers to pay them certain amounts, about a half of VAT charges belonging to the government in order to be left off the hook. Then they will pocket the money.
The one year I spent on Link Road, Abossey Okai near and opposite the Kaneshie market, what I saw was the staff at the Link Road branch of the Internal Revenue Service's VAT department changing cars like changing shirts, both men and women.
All the businesses around this area know what I am talking about and its been done in all of their branches around Ghana.

Why don't Ghanaians rise up against their crooked idiotic rulers who allow such blatant thieving to go on in all sectors of the economy? Our cities are filthy and stinky (for example, compare ultra-clean Kigali in Rwanda to ultra-filthy Accra!). NOTHING seems to work in Ghana! The crooked FOOLS and THIEVES who rule us keep robbing us blind and, of course, sections of the populace have also joined the looting spree. When are the masses going to RISE UP?

These corrupt practices have been going on at various places all over the country for many many years. It does not matter which party is in power, it still goes on because, most of the people doing it are civil servants and not party appointees.
It happens at lorry parks in the various Municipalities. It was happening at Ghana Airways. For example, 70 tons of excess baggage is officially recorded as 7 tons. The cash for the remaining 63 tons is shared among officials including pilots, etc.
Those issuing tickets to market women usually have their own printed tickets similar to the official ones. With every ten tickets they issue, 1 is for government and 9 goes into their pockets.
Officials are aware of these malpractices and yet they do nothing because most of them also have their shares in the loot. These days of computer technology, why can't the government take steps to modernize these services and eliminate the corruption?

I also think that if the president himself is not corrupt, he should not be afraid to put in place a stiffer punishment for those who steal from our nation. I am not pointing fingers at Mahama but all those who have been president before in Ghana. Previously, there was firing squad for corrupt people caught but today, these are the people fancied by the law court. Simply, the court can't be trusted either and this is a sign of a Nation with broken institutions. I think we should encourage Mahama to deal with this rot in himself and also make sure to give a stiffer punishments to whoever caught for stealing.

As much as I agree with you, the President cannot do everything for us. Concerning the stealing at the toll booths, the Ministries responsible should come together and device means of stopping the loot. With the lorry parks and markets, the ministry of local government and the District Assemblies should deal with that. In Ghana, we put too much emphasizes on the President to do everything for us. When the roof of a village school is leaking, we look up to the President to come and fix it. What are our chiefs and the village communities doing that they cannot take care of a common leaking roof? Where is the spirit of communal labour that used to exist in our communities?
There should be severe punishment for those indulging in looting from government coffers. We hear about stealing and corruption when they occur but never hear of anyone being jailed for such offences.

You need to change to give wise contributions whenever there is a concern of this nature. You must change your attitude to respect elders and leaders. You must change your attitude to present yourself wisely and respectfully so that people will listen to you. Ghanaian must change from those above mentioned attitudes so that we can move forward together as a nation with a common objective.

Do these toll booths have treadles that count how many cars go thru them on each shift? You can man them with non resetables that make them temper proof and will record an event if you try tempering. You can also send in auditors to sit in each booth randomly for a couple of days with the attendants to see how much is taken in when they're manning the place as against what the report when they work on their own. Simply put, run these places like they do in parking garages in the USA and we're guaranteed to rake in at least 95% of the real revenue.

Can we think of other alternative solutions to the toll collection problem, which is apparently widespread across the country? How about year-long stickers for all categories of vehicles: say GHC 300 for normal cars,GHC 500 for 4x4s, GHC 600 for Trotros and Taxis, GHC 1000 for tankers and trucks of similar categories, etc.
Those without stickers should be made to pay double the current rates for their categories per trip - until they get their stickers. Toll attendants would then only check for stickers on vehicles, or issue penalty tolls for non-compliant vehicles.
